A vote condemning Castro's human rights abuses is too much to ask of House Dems?

A vote chastising one of it's party members for supporting/praising a communist dictator GUILTY of those human rights abuses too much to ask of House Dems?

Yes,...Yes it is.

You are twisting the words around. I'm sure Sanders was praising the good stuff not the bad stuff. But whatever floats your boat.

Bernie said he was against authoritarianism. why can't the democrats get together and admit that
gulags and Isle of Pines type places are a bad thing? they can't bring themselves to criticize anyone left of center, not even a dictator.

You all are very quick to criticize Marx and communism. But laissez faire capitalism is not perfect. Marx had some very good criticism of laissez faire capitalism:

laissez-faire capitalism > socialism but has its own issues. I for one certainly won't deny that.

ironically that's the problem in China now. favored business can go wild (sweatshops, pollution, tainted products) and their government lets it go (until it becomes an embarrassment, at which point heads roll).

imho the real problem is emphasis. Bernie should say 'yes Castro improved reading and medicine but at the cost of an impoverished and brutal police state and that's NOT what we will do here'.

A brutal Police State is exactly what Bernie's followers are working towards
Just ask Bernie's campaign workers.

Gulags Anyone?

having watched the USA left / democrats in action for decades I'm inclined to agree with that.
the younger Hitler Youth types are worse than the older ones.

If Bernie wins...you and I are now officially on a list for the Gulag with these posts.

Does Russian Collusion ring a bell with you??

Russian Agent??

Etc...??

Red scare?? Naah. More like a Sanders scare. The Reds aren't comin' for us, but Sanders is. That he probably can't, is a good thing.

Russians are no longer communist.

As dumb as the russian narrative was, it wasn't because you had to check under your bed for commies.

I'd like to think that's a joke but it's not.

Seagull, I really believe the left will 'come for us' in a few election cycles. they are ideologues and fanatics.
the older ones like Hillary and Pelosi were content with power, booze and luxury vacations. they love to punish their enemies but only to a point. the younger ones are heartless and scary.

If that happens, and its a really big if, the country will tear itself apart. Balkanism will certainly make things interesting...

Sanders, on several occasions, has refrained from fully condemning the Castro regime.

During a “60 Minutes” interview that aired Sunday, Sanders said it was “unfair” to say everything about the Castro regime was bad, noting how Castro launched a “massive literacy program” upon assuming power. The next day, during a town hall event in South Carolina, he stood by his remarks. During Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Sanders again touted Cuba’s progress on education.

So the guy isn't allowed to have an opinion? I don't really see how these press statements reflect his qualities as a leader or his ability to manage a country successfully. It's not like he said "I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."

Yup, the first one being the guy from the Justice Democrats that propped up AOC and brought her from behind the bar, to congress. Part of me will always wonder if she even understands what they tell her to say.

Democrats who cannot say one good thing about Trump and how great American is doing right now will not hesitate to step up and praise Communist leaders. Absolutely hilarious!!

So a crass guy who said crass things is bad, but a guy who admires and embraces an ideology that has killed and enslaved millions is someone worth voting for.

I had forgotten that this is the thread where some politician tried to pass a law to infringe another person's freedom of speech.

Odd to see so called defenders of freedom of speech criticizing those who voted to uphold free speech and giving a pass to those that voted yes to this bill.

Opinions are a prime indicator of a candidate's quality as a country's leader or manager.

If your opinion includes praise for and support of dictators such as Castro, Ortega, Maduro, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, ...or even Hitler...it speaks volumes about the type of leader you would be.

Judging from how Bernie Sanders is continuing to climb in the polls, Americans may be ready to give socialist communism a try.

It's obvious in his ideology.
First and foremost, his admiration of Fidel Castro. That's what the recent hoopla is all about.

It's evident in his hatred of the extremely wealthy, and his plans to redistribute the wealth. (Although it's OK for him to be a millionaire)

Listen to the guy, FFS!

There is no aspect of our lives which he thinks the government shouldn't control. He's a Marxist.

He used to bash millionaires, until he became one.
That "SHOULD" show his supporters how full of crap he is and who will he attack when he finally becomes a billionaire?
And all of his supporters will wonder what happened when he starts to go after them in one way or another.
You know the story...they went after X but I wasn't one of them so I didn't care, then they went after Y but I wasn't one of them either so I didn't care.
Now they are coming after me and nobody is left to help....now I care but it is to late because I stood by and let them take down everyone who would stand with me but I let them be silenced.

Democrats and the media have cried wolf and sounded so many warning bells over the last three years, they are perplexed why no one in America who is level-headed, is taking them seriously about a Corona disaster.
