You need a minimum of 20 posts to create your own threads. Until then the system won't allow you.

My advice is to make an intro thread and say hello to everyone, you'll get 20 posts up in no time.

First, click on the link below;

Introductions forum

Second, at the top of the page on the far right is a plus icon with "new topic" above it.

Click on the plus and it will take you to the new thread page in introductions.

Select a cool title, like "Hey Everyone!" or something awesome and enter it in the small title box (kind of like writing an email).

Say hello in the second larger space, tell us about yourself, where you're from, what interests you, why you came here, etc.

Hit post at the bottom when you're done.

Watch the flags and hellos come flooding in from members, reply, and you'll have your 20 posts in no time.

ALTERNATIVELY:

Find some areas that interest you, read what people have to say and add your 2c to the discussion, just remember to be even-headed and fair.

Before long you'll have 20 posts and be able to start your own threads.

Nope, you can post an avatar right away.

Up on the bar at the top is a little downward facing arrow within a circle, about four from the right.

Click on this and it expands a menu.

Go to upload, and click on it.

It will direct you to another page, on the top left is a cloud icon with "upload" underneath it.

Click on this, it will open a box like any open menu on a computer.

Select the picture you want, and this is the important bit: Click on Upload to start the file, it won't auto-load. The file will show progress, then complete.

You should now have the picture at the top of the page, it should be the only one there at this point.

A box will pop up, on the right is a little window icon, to the left is a person icon. If you hover for a second, it will say something like "click to use as your avatar."

Just click on that icon, and the pic will upload as your avatar.

Alternatively (again), if you want something custom, there's a link below all this that will take you to the avatar creations thread. We do custom stuff there, and the first page has all the instructions including guidelines and a detailed how-to for everything avatars.

Hope this helps.

They seem to be in order so far.

You can read the T&Cs if you like, they are here.

I tend to go by a simpler rule though, and it seems to work for most people:

If you wouldn't say it or show it to your mother, your kids or your nieces and nephews, then you probably shouldn't say it here.

It is a little more in depth, but that's the nuts and bolts of it.

Hey y'all! I'm new here, and have only had a few posts myself. However I now find it impossible to create new posts. As if I've been banned.... Although I can still sign in and reply to existing threads. Is this site broken? Very odd.

You need 20 posts before you can create a thread of your own.

The introductions forum is open for the time being, if you wanted to create a hello thread there.

Reply to everyone who says hello to you, and you'll have 20 posts and be threading away in no time.

Just click on new topic (the plus) and get started.

Good to see you finding your way around, the site can be a bit confusing for anyone on the first few days. The nice thing about ATS though, you can always ask if you have a problem or confusion about anything. The members are always willing to help out or explain something.

Welcome to ATS, I look forward to seeing you around the boards.
