A 9 Year-Old Tells Presidential Candidate Buttigieg He is Gay. Yes...NINE Years Old!

Over the weekend, Democratic Presidential candidate (and Mayor of South Bend, Indiana) Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg held a town hall.

Peter is gay. During the town hall, a 9 year-old boy asked Mr. Buttigieg how he could work up the courage to tell people that, even at his young age, he is gay.

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg had an emotional moment on Saturday night with a nine-year old boy who asked him for help to come out as gay.

During a Q&A session where questions were drawn from a fishbowl, the boy, later identified as, Zachary Ro, thanked the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana for his bravery and sought help from Buttigieg on "coming out".

"Would you help me tell the world I'm gay, too?" Ro asked the first openly gay presidential candidate, adding, "I want to be brave like you."

Candidate Buttigieg responded:

"Let me tell you a couple things that might be useful. The first thing is that it won't always be easy, but that's okay because you know who you are.," Buttigieg said.

" And that's really important because when you know who you are you have a center of gravity that can hold you together when all kinds of chaos is happening around you."

QUESTION: Since being "Gay" denotes a sex/intercourse preference, how do 9 year-old kids know whether they prefer having it with males or females? Are 9 year-olds having sexual intercourse these days? (I'm old, and could be behind the times.)

This is probably the most staged and self-serving thing i’ve seen in politics.

QUESTION: When you were nine did you know if you liked boys or girls? Were you sure since you didn't have any actual experience to base your "preferences" on? Did you have to experiment or did you just know?

I agree. But I put this thread in the "Society Issues" forum because it's more fascinating to me that a 9 year old says he's gay!

I played with both boys and girls at age 9. Didn't have sex with neither. Just smooched and stuff.

So is Joe Biden going to blame the Russians for this kid not being at his rally too?

Also the denotation that a person is "gay" also implies that that person is a "Homosexual". The idea that a person can like to hang out or prefers to be with another person that is the same birth sex as themselves, is not the same as a person that is "gay".

There are people that will promote this behavior long before telling children not to worry about sex and just to identify as a megazord. Identifying with a social group is a human evolution defense mechanism, but really the many vastly outnumber the number of good behavioral psychologists so who can be expected to know such things. If we are correct in our thought of him being an actor it should really be scary how malleable a portion of the general public really can be.

Are kids who identify as straight automatically heterosexual?

This almost sounds like an SNL skit. A person hosting a "Coming out Party" only to tell every one that they are straight. It always amuses me when a person has to tell me their sexual preference. It's not like I'm hitting on them, or wanting to get hit on, but they get all huffy when I tell them I'm straight. Hey if you're proud of your sexuality that's great, but I don't care about it.

Just like I told HR at my last job, "Keep it in the Supply Closet, I don't care".

Right. This kid has studied Pete Buttigieg. Zachary was there at the Town Hall because he identified with Peter's sexual preference.

analogous of 'doing gods work' imo. No other way you can justify such bull# and also possess a conscious.

Or just the regular ol' rigamarole of wanting attention because they need some kind of catharsis from when they were younger.

But asking a person on national TV about working up the courage to "come out". Doesn't the seem very pandering. Your on national TV.

I'm trying to keep politics out of this, because political preference isn't important. If Buttigieg was a Republican, the little kid would have still asked for advice on how to "come out".
