There's lazy and then there's Bernie lazy. Getting kicked out of a hippie commune for being too lazy is next level lazy.

Thanks for the link. It was an interesting read. The guy has really accomplished nothing to speak of in his 80 plus years on the planet. What are people so excited about? The guy is used to taking while giving nothing in return. A business or economic model for that matter that will not work.

If I am not mistaken, we were kicked out of the garden and man has been trying to re-create that for years. It will never happen until the big guy lets us back in. In the mean time, he gave us the shovel..

I wonder if he will be doing a commercial soon for La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries?

The easiest job in the world is that of a rabble rouser speaker. If you are good all you need is talking points and not an entire written speech. He obviously is good at that and has been since childhood at public speaking. Another shtick of his is that feigned hate and mortification.

Now I know why the Democrats are afraid of him. He will destroy this country much worse than Jimmy Carter did back in the 1970's. Along with it he will take the DNC and country down. This guy has no experience to run a country of 327 million people along with a GDP of $19.39 Trillion. He's from Vermont, a State of 626,000 citizens and a GDP of $27 Billion or 0.17% of the USA economy.

Keep an eye on how the MSM plays this out. It has already begun.

Vermont. "Green Mountain".

I guess the Green Mountain Boys aren't what they used to be.

Cheers

Take a look at Vermont. Top to bottom its a failed state and he was there the entire time.[/url]

One thing that really puzzles me...

How do you reconcile the above with the fact that Vermont has (at least until 2018) some of the most permissive gun laws in the Union? They still have unpermitted Open and concealed carry, I believe, so in that respect still better than most - do any other States also allow Open or Concealed carry without a permit?

That book was written by an eye witness who was there as a Hippie at the Myrtle Hill Farm in the 1970's. Were you there. I know I wasn't.

I found the book "We Are As Gods, BACK TO THE LAND in the 1970's on the Quest for a New America" by Kate Daloz.

There is little in it about Bernie Sanders.

This is the section in it about Sanders, verbatim, but with specific sections emphasized:

" Rahula was just a week old when a visitor stopped by, asking to talk to Loraine. His name was Bernie Sanders. He had recently moved to Vermont and was writing for various progressive newspapers. Within a few months, he would begin the political career that would make him mayor of Burlington and eventually the only self-proclaimed socialist in the US Senate and a crowd-rallying presidential hopeful. Sanders didn’t belong to a commune himself, but many of his friends and many more of his eventual political supporters did.

He had heard through the counterculture grapevine that Loraine’s two daughters had been born under drastically different conditions and he wanted to interview her for an article comparing hospital births and home births. As Loraine nursed Rahula in the Star House, he gently peppered her with questions in his thick Brooklyn accent. Loraine was happy to oblige. She liked Bernie and appreciated his thoughtful interest in her experience. This appreciation would only deepen with time. Over the next several decades, well into his national political career, whenever Loraine ran into him, Bernie always chatted with her warmly and never failed to ask after Rahula.

Craig, however, was less enamored with Bernie’s visit to Myrtle Hill. It wasn’t his viewpoints—Craig would later devote himself heartily to Bernie’s mayoral campaign—it was his penchant for sitting around and talking about ideas when there was so much work to be done.

Myrtle Hill’s raison d’être, as Craig saw it, was in the doing, not in the theorizing. Even though he agreed with almost everything Bernie had to say, he resented feeling like he had to pull others out of Bernie’s orbit if any work was going to get accomplished that day. Endless political discussion was simply not a way they could or should spend their time. The memory of the previous autumn still haunted Craig. He was determined not to let this summer vanish in the same dreamy haze as the first. When Bernie had stayed for Myrtle’s allotted three days, Craig politely requested that he move on."

It clearly says that Sanders wasn't a member of the commune. It also doesn't say that Sanders was lazy, it says that others were not working and instead were gravitating around Sanders.

BOTH articles are untrue and are trying to give the passage in the book a negative spin.

They are both clearly propaganda and the type of smear that has come again and again from Trump's supporters.

“Propaganda and smears”

Like “he called all Mexicans rapists”?
Or “the Russians influenced the election”?

What a joke

Thank you for posting this as it tracks with what I read and wrote. The exception is that you left out the three day rule. Meaning anyone can join for three days and a decision is then made by the Hippies to allow you to stay or they ask you to go. He was asked to go.

Period. He was asked to go.

Boy you are so full of Russian sheep. They gave him the boot after the 3rd day because he was disrupting the flow of work plus he didn't work. He just shot the sheep.

You must be very proud of yourself when you stoop to the depths of sewage. I mean it is what it is. Have you considered starting a ministry?

So, you think by insulting me, that you have won the debate? LOL.

The book clearly stated that he was not a member of a commune.

Nor did the book state that Sanders was lazy. For a leadership politician, talking politics and policy is doing their job.

You spun the information via plausible deniability along with what you posted on posted on Feb, 27 2020 @ 11:55 AM.

We are done here.

Both articles quoted the book as their source. On Feb 26, 2020, I posted a word for word quotation from the book which directly contradicts both articles.

I wasn't 'spinning' anything there.

Get the book and read it for yourself.

I read what I read which was the exact except from the book. It was brought up during the 2016 primary. I also read a newspaper article quoting the author from the 1970's and her meeting Bernie Sanders at the commune. That was good enough for me.

Go ahead and believe what you believe as I stand by what I saw and read.

Go Hippies!

Kicked out of a commune is 1971? Seriously??

Well, that settles that...curses on the man!!

Forgive me if I find this less than important... 40+ years ago?? Sorry if I find that less than earth shaking.

No, I'm not voting for him, but because of today, not something that happened while I was in elementary school--2nd grade, to be precise.

I look at these old men campaigning around the country, eating bad food, shaking hands until they're raw, and having to be ready to spout your talking points at a moment's notice, and I think, hell naw, no way would I put myself through that. They all have way more energy and ambition than I do. And for what? To do even more of it for at least another four years?

More evidence that anyone who would actually want to be President is downright crazy and should never be given the job. We should elect Presidents by random drawing from voter registration lists, the way we do jury members. Might end up with a smaller percentage of both sociopaths and people in the pockets of big industry.

Trump proved that pretty much anyone can be taught how to be President. Let's take it to the next level.

So did I strike a funny bone?

Correct as in that's right comrade, Bernie's been made. Its quite telling that he got the boot from the Hippies.

So why are the big guns here? It tells a lot!

I am honored by your presence.
