That doesn't make sense. How are these electron sized microsingularities going to have their space-time distorting effects 'projected' to 'outside the car'? And, regardless, they are bending the light of the laser. Why do they not bend the other light, the light that is passing thru the same region and reacting on the camera film? Or the smoke that was blown to allow us to see the laser?

I don't think the smoke let you see the laser. If you have seen the movie of him stepping into the white thingy, you know the laser is at least 40mW or more as he is shining it around and you can see the beam with no smoke or fog.
