I've heard her speak.
There is a reason she was a bartender.

I know a janitor with a geology degree from Notre Dame.

I've heard Trump speak, too.

And I've read his tweets.

These aren't his words twisted by propagandists, these are direct from the source.

How many people do you know who talk about themselves in the third person and have to tell everyone that they are "like, a really stable genius"?

Clearly, he is a game show host.

Trump is a loudmouth ass.
Totally agree.

He's also an extremely accomplished businessman with decades of experience.

Aoc is a loudmouth idiot.

She knows how to mix a tom Collins.

#1.
The humans that would first be settling Mars would have to follow strict rules just to survive and the initial colony numbers would be so small it wouldn't have an impact on Mars' environment.

#2.
What Martian environment is there for humans to ruin exactly?

BONUS.
In regards to #1 a space colony would most likely be compromised of specific roles to be carried out for the advancement of everyone, not unlike a commune.

I don't see humans taking democracy and capitalism with us to the stars, as it does nothing for the living consciousness of the universe.

To get away from people like AOC.

Earth can go to hell.

I'm going to Mars.

we are poisoning the oceans, we are clearing the forests, we are destroying the habitat of animals, we are polluting the air, and on the side we are fighting senseless wars or let nuclear power plants explode. so of course we have an influence on planet earth. and because we are intelligent beings, we have realized that we have to change something. what this has to do with a possible colonization on mars is not clear to me. we are a curious species and we have learned that it is possible to live on other planets, so we try to achieve that. and at the same time we can adapt our living habits to the needs of our planet. your comment is absurd and it only serves to attack political dissidents.

I have been watching the Netflix show MARS

In that series, there is a lot of presenting highly liberal/leftist views, in a way that I think demeans those who disagree with the liberal agenda

The show itself (when not engaged in propaganda) is very good (I just don't like the non-story 20 minute liberal politics disguised as presenting science). I've taken to FF past the propaganda to watch the actual story which is great.

I read something in the news that got me thinking and asking the question: Why would people who support human extinction as necessary for the survival of the planet, want to go to Mars or any other planet.

I think it is an interesting jumping off point for dialog and to stretch the mind.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York suggested this weekend that it may not be ethical to have children, given the difficulties that climate change will likely cause in the years to come. In a live stream on her Instagram, Ocasio suggested to her 2.5 million followers that the answer was not clear. "There's scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult. And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: Is it OK to still have children?" she asked.

so she does exactly what you do. she asks a question without claiming to know the answer. that's all. you can't compare life on mars with life on earth anyway. this is unexplored territory.

i've seen mars too. pretty good but somehow the characters annoyed me. the special effects were pretty great though. i didn't notice any ideological message. do you have any samples?

Except for the fact that communes never drive innovation or encourage individual excellence (which is how you drive innovation).

If there is no life on Mars I fail to see how humans would ruin it. If there is native life then yah, humans would likely screw it up.

You were doing pretty well until you suggested that humans would cease to be human and become instead ants because ... space.

There are more humans on the Earth than ever before and the numbers are steadily growing. There simply aren't enough resources to continue on the path that we're on. It isn't sustainable. Blaming liberals( Democrats) while ignoring the real problem(s) doesn't solve anything.

The Earth is showing signs:
Deadzones in the ocean(s)
melting glaciers
coastal flooding
species extinction
wildfires
viruses
etc......

I've heard several times on ATS that Liberals want to tax you and take your money... Well, once the environment goes to pot any money will be worthless.

You can't pay an earthquake to stop shaking.
You can't bribe a hurricane to stop spinning.
You can't bargain with the oceans.
Mosquitos won't accept American Express to stop spreading infections

All of this political crap is destroying ATS.

You mean viruses literally evolved because of humans? There were never, ever any viruses before now because we're destroying the planet?

Glaciers never melted before now?

There were never, ever any coastal floods?! Why are there so many ruins under the water then?

If species never went extinct, why aren't there any dinosaurs or megalodons or trilobytes? I think it'd be neat to see one of those giant water scorpions where are they? Did my SUV back murder them through time?

Would be great for all the lefties who hate us so much to start their own colony there so they can do it right!

Does AOC address the level of radiation astronauts will face traveling to Mars? What in the world is going on with this thread?

I don't think I could come up with something more random if I tried. This thread feels like an ancient aliens meme.

Why should humans go to Mars?

We shouldn't, it's a retarded waste of money. Mars' environment is more hostile than the worst place imaginable on Earth. Like, all of Mars. Why would we waste time and money going to a dead lifeless rock that won't stop being a dead barren lifeless rock just because we go there?

People are fairly dumb if they think space has anything that will even come close to living on earth. Every single thing on this planet evolved to live on this planet. Look how much it can # an ecosystem just introducing a species from one side of the world to the other, now imagine what happens when humans show up on a world we're completely unadapted for. Chances are we'd just die. There's a good chance, even if there.is life, it won't be usable like any of the life we're used to because all proteins and DNA would be foreign. Again, look what just foreign earth proteins can do(mad cow and #).

Earth really is the only place we'll ever have things we're adapted to use and be around because it took billions of years of evolution on our planet to get all this.

Space really is a big #ing waste of time. I blame star trek for confusing people and making them think the universe is anything other than a cold hostile place where literally everything outside earth will kill us.
