TBH, I think this is mostly your perception. I have been watching this pretty objectively, and while there are a few people prepping cautiously to avoid what is going on in China now, most are just observing and acting like normal CTs. We know the CCP in China has a long history of lying and brutality.

There are a bunch of videos coming out of WeChat etc. that are at the very least disconcerting and I don't believe people are just faking a bunch or arrests with people in masks to get hits on their WeChat channel. If you are buying the official Party line, tha's fine. Most people are going to question it and the evidence that they still haven't let outsiders near Wuhan should be pretty telling.

You can claim people are hysterical, but I am just not seeing anyone panicking in this thread --- just compiling all the info and trying to sort out fact from fiction. TBH, you are coming across more hysterical than most. There is a reason every country that has this is quarantining and it isn't because "it's just the flu".

I tend to agree. The amount of deaths so far in relation to the amount of people who have contracted it isn't a whole lot higher that a bad flu season. I think it's probably scarier because it's new and we don't know as much about it as we do the flu. What is it exactly that differentiates this from the flu anyway?

Only thing I can see is some reservists (TA) have been called up; there's a heightened sense of security everywhere. If it spreads then there will presumably be lock-down.

Would like to thank the mods for paying attention, clearly the thread is having people/ groups try to manipulate the narrative and direct and off topic the thread by arguing with people and posting fake info and news that’s already been debunked in volume 2 or earlier

There's talk of 'bugging out' here, 'bugging in', 'long term survival', government and economic collapse'...C'mon, you can't deny this!! Right?

It's pure "Fear Mongering"!!! And you want some prooff??? I'll give you some...

99.99% of the "Fear Mongering" is coming from developed countries! It's NOT coming from any other country, but countries who have direct high speed internet access! You're not hearing it from India (they have a lot of people too, you know), or Russia, or anywhere else. Where you're hearing it from is countries who have an axe to grind with CHINA! They WANT it to be bad, they WANT China to be the disease of the world.

You know, you can say whatever you want, but I suggest you step out of the house and take a breath of fresh air, step away from this alleged "crisis", and see that the World is not going to collapse! It just isn't!

It has a mortality rate in excess of 20 times greater than seasonal flu.

I'm fairly certain that nobody actually understands the short and long term implications of this virus. Which is why most of us are here.

The thing that makes it scary to me is the brutality the CCP
is using. If it is similar to the flu why the response in China? I can handle the underreporting of numbers as business as usual from China. The deaths, real or estimated, don't put me out of my comfort zone as a result from an epidemic. It's the brutality that moves the needle for me.

Whether you agree with it or not this virus, will effect you. Economically it will effect the world. Regardless of your opinion towards how others are dealing with it. Some people find solace in posting on forums on ats about current events that are scary and unknown a sense of herd mentality. Your not being very productive in this thread attempting to make people feel bad, nor are you contributing in a positive manner.

I'm no microbiologist - but I understood the 3-day delay was to allow growth. Usually I've seen micro reports which are provisional at 3-days and final at 5-days when I've worked on the wards (when testing for various bugs - pre COVID-19) - so I doubt a backlog would cause a 7-day delay? But happy to be corrected.

That said - I don't know who/where the testing is taking place. I assumed it was in local authority labs - but maybe this is centralised.

They were supposed to announcing the results of the 8-month old and mother today according to the Daily Mail (I know...) but I haven't seen anything. They were in contact with one the medical staff that tested positive.

When we culture bacteria it’s typically 3 days before we can release the susceptibility so that the docs can prescribe the correct antibiotic. First 24 hours to isolate growth, sometimes 48 for slow growers or 72 for anaerobes, fungus, or yeast. Then, quick testing to ensure identification and then another 24-48 hours for susceptibility. Viruses we test via blood or PCR though which are more rapid
But lately everything including bacteria has been going molecular and PCR so in theory should be 6 hours for results.
But the analyzers only have such a capacity to run so many per hour. Along with manpower that could be causing the delay
I’m just guessing as I’m not in an EU lab. Idk their specific protocol or process

We should get to double digits by the end of the month.

Same here, someone asked me earlier ( maybe yesterday ) what I see here and we’ve got more border patrols and security personnel on in and around city, in U.K. doing that would mean calling up the ta to fill the gaps
Tbh I’ve been here some years and atm it’s the same increased risk we see at Christmas time (kinda thing , you know why that is and I’m not going off topic to that issue)
But tbh it’s not overbearing and the guys and girls doing the job are 1st rate imo
Tbh they are there to help if s@ happens and it does put people at ease ( personally I’m fine with armed guards wandering round keeping an eye on things (but I’m not doing anything wrong ) and usually beside them is an ambulance and some paramedics “just in case” which is nice and comforting (now I feel like a sheep . )
