And BTW. If this virus is so contagious and has a incubation period of up to 14 days we would already have a global pandemic. No way in hell you can stop such a virus.

It all depends on how it spreads as to how fast that happens.

You know ... if we're dealing with zombies, it'll take them a while to shamble across the bottom of the Pacific.

Seriously, you're correct in thinking if this was a truly airborne type disease, we'd all be up to our eyeballs in it. But not everything spreads that quickly. The question here is how quickly this spreads, and how many will be expected to suddenly get sick with it when it does manage to get over here.

Curious to see if any Chinese/Americans i.e. people with parents who are Chinese but they were born and raised in the US, current on all medical shots etc. To see if any have contracted the virus, and see any differences during the whole cycle between China Chinese vs American Chinese. If that makes any sense...

can kinda understand what your getting at regarding populations causing the evolution and spread of different viruses,
but i can point to bugs and viruses that have evolved to live specifically in places like the middle east and Africa, and say from experience they suck,
its not necessarily the people that spread some( in covid-19 yep think it is) viruses, some are already there or evolving along on their own and we get in that way of that
i do agree its more like to be surface spread though ( unless your stuck next to someone coughing out a lung then my advice is back away!(

First off, No, there is nothing wrong with having a discussion. Nothing wrong with having a debate either, you know, where both sides don't agree? A 'discussion' isn't everyone agreeing (and I won't editorialize about what that really is, but it involves circles).

Secondly, I've involved myself at several points, in depth, in this discussion over the many thousands of posts on just the "updates" threads, so you might take a look at some of those. Many of these were dissenting opinions, but they were participation.

And thirdly, you don't get to tell me when to participate and not, so not your call. The moderators can, but not you. All due respect.

Lastly, and to your point about China and manufacturing; I doubt we are going to see any significant downturn from Chinese exports. Having lived in Asia, and spent considerable time in China, I honestly don't think most people understand how truly mammoth Chinese production capacity is, how truly massive the population of China is. It's staggering! China has more people than North America, South America and western Europe...combined! I'd have to check the math, but you might even be able to add Eastern Europe to that and still be in the minority. China is MASSIVE!

Seriously, if 75 "million" people ceased to exist in China, overnight, it would be business as usual tomorrow morning! It's less than 10% of their population. 200 million even! Their population is 5x times that!

ETA - 200 million is less than 25% of China's population (less than 1 in 4). 200 million is 63% of North America's population (nearly 2 out of 3).

Just because someone has a lung infection does not mean
they have Corona Virus.

Agreed. Point-of-fact, I have a family member in Shanghai right now with tuberculosis. Worried about them being presumptively assumed to have Covid19 when encountering any "authorities".

And you see, it's cases just like this which make all the hysteria just over the top!!

How long before someone sneezes and they quarantine a whole city block, start welding doors shut and firing up the crematoriums?????

Depressing story. I'm sure there are many more.

Dying a desperate death: A Wuhan family's coronavirus ordeal

Two days before Xiangyou died, doctors at the 4th Hospital of Wuhan had written in a diagnosis that both brothers were likely infected by the coronavirus which has now killed over 1,350 people in China. CT scans showed their lungs had turned “white” with patterns resembling cracked glass, symptomatic of severe viral infections.

So there was already something going on around Jan. 2. Maybe it was a bio weapon after all that somehow leaked from the lab.

Never been to Asia
I'm far from an expert, this has to have had an effect on China's production and distribution
shortages will be guaranteed,if not for the short term
As China is massive so are there trade arrangements

I'm sorry, but you're going to need to provide a lot more corroborating evidence than just some guy on youtube to make people believe there are "50,000" dead!

And this isn't "fear mongering" and "doom porn" ????????? REALLY???

THIS is the kind of stuff I'm talking about!!
