Today I heard a Democratic analyst say on a news show that the Democrats need to win over former Trump voters in order to win the Presidency.
I'm having trouble with their strategy. It appears the strategy is Shame/Guilt/Coerce I'm not sure this is a winning strategy. I was wondering if
any of you are seeing a different strategy to gain the votes of people who voted for Trump in 2016
This is what I think it is:
Strategy 1 SHAME:
Obama first called conservatives people who cling to their Bibles: which was taken as an insult to all Christians, but he was targeting conservative
Christians in particular when speaking at a rally to gain votes - then he repeated this in 2015 at a rally to get votes for Democrats
www.washingtonpost.com...
Then Hillary in 2015 called Trump supporters deplorable ists/isms
Democratic Congresspeople have continued in this path of calling Trump voters/supporters racists in particular, over and over and over.
Lastly, prominent Democratic leader called Trump voters: smelly Walmart voters.
This appears to be a strategic get the vote move Make people ashamed of voting for Trump and ashamed of themselves
This was made quite clear as a strategy to attempt to convert Trump voters into Democrats when on social media for the past three years Trump
voters/supporters have been labeled as evil people (racist/sexist/etc) over and over and over on all platforms Facebook/Quora/ATS/Twitter/etc. To the
point where it has been drilled into the minds of people who voted for Trump that Democrats find them disgusting, evil people.
Strategy 2 GUILT:
Keep repeating the mantra above until Trump supporters break down and realize their guilt and their evil nature because they voted for Trump or
support what Trump has done for the nation
Make certain Democratic leaders and Democratic Party supporters hound people who are happy with what Trump has done for the nation, reminding them
they are henious and evil people for even thinking positive thoughts about Trump - do this by saying repeatedly - if you voted for Trump you are ...
"ist/ism", if you like anything he has done for the nation you are an "ist/ism" because you like Trump - therefore you are guilty of being an
"ist/ism"
until they get Trump supporters so full of guilt over "everyone" thinking they are heinous evil people for voting for Trump or liking what Trump has
done for the economy, for minorities - that they melt into a puddle of abject guilt
Strategy 3 COERCION:
Have the Democratic Leadership stand silently by while Democratic Party supporters assault Trump voters on average once every three days for the past
three years
Even looking the other way when someone tries to drive into a tent full of Republicans trying to register people to vote; and to the point where on
average, every three days for the past three years someone has been assaulted for wearing a MAGA hat.
Democratic Party analysts recognize the Democratic Party needs the votes of Republicans and from what I have observed have been using the strategy
above to gain their support and votes.
Somehow I don't think guilt, shame, and coercion will turn people into anyone's supporters.
Do you see any other strategy at work? How do you see the Democrats going about letting prior Trump voters and current Trump supporters know that
they are welcome in the Democratic Party and should consider voting for them?
One 2020 Presidential candidate told a woman who was against late term abortion if the mother and baby are both healthy, and implied strongly people
who think like her don't belong in the Democratic Party. Is telling people they don't belong in your party a reverse psychology move? I'm having
trouble with that, but perhaps they are using reverse psychology and I'm too ignorant to see the value in this strategy.
As an aside: I know some of you will say the Republicans are using the same strategy:
"Republicans are doing the exact same thing" - can you name when a Republican Senator/Congressperson who work for the RNS, call everyone who
voted for Hillary an epithet that clearly says "I think everyone who voted for or supported Hillary is evil." Can you name a single person with a
Hillary/Biden/Sanders/Warren etc. hat or t-shirt on that was assaulted by a conservative who saw them randomly in public and decided to assault them
only because they had a Hillary/Biden/Sanders/Warren etc. hat or t-shirt on? It is only this particular strategy that I have seen over and over and
over being used by the Democrats and their supporters. (I am NOT talking about when groups get worked up in protests, like ANTIFA, nor am I talking
about weirdos who do things like shoot up a baseball game when the targets are all Republican. I am not talking about these outlier, weirdo type
events. I AM talking about what is happening at a minimum 2-3 times a week by normally sane people.)
Finally: What strategy do you see the Democratic 2020 candidates using that say to Trump voters/supporters, and people against late-term abortions,
you should vote for us? Where am I missing the boat on this one?
