Today I heard a Democratic analyst say on a news show that the Democrats need to win over former Trump voters in order to win the Presidency.

I'm having trouble with their strategy. It appears the strategy is Shame/Guilt/Coerce I'm not sure this is a winning strategy. I was wondering if any of you are seeing a different strategy to gain the votes of people who voted for Trump in 2016

This is what I think it is:

Strategy 1 SHAME:

Obama first called conservatives people who cling to their Bibles: which was taken as an insult to all Christians, but he was targeting conservative Christians in particular when speaking at a rally to gain votes - then he repeated this in 2015 at a rally to get votes for Democrats www.washingtonpost.com...
Then Hillary in 2015 called Trump supporters deplorable ists/isms
Democratic Congresspeople have continued in this path of calling Trump voters/supporters racists in particular, over and over and over.
Lastly, prominent Democratic leader called Trump voters: smelly Walmart voters.
This appears to be a strategic get the vote move Make people ashamed of voting for Trump and ashamed of themselves
This was made quite clear as a strategy to attempt to convert Trump voters into Democrats when on social media for the past three years Trump voters/supporters have been labeled as evil people (racist/sexist/etc) over and over and over on all platforms Facebook/Quora/ATS/Twitter/etc. To the point where it has been drilled into the minds of people who voted for Trump that Democrats find them disgusting, evil people.

Strategy 2 GUILT:
Keep repeating the mantra above until Trump supporters break down and realize their guilt and their evil nature because they voted for Trump or support what Trump has done for the nation
Make certain Democratic leaders and Democratic Party supporters hound people who are happy with what Trump has done for the nation, reminding them they are henious and evil people for even thinking positive thoughts about Trump - do this by saying repeatedly - if you voted for Trump you are ... "ist/ism", if you like anything he has done for the nation you are an "ist/ism" because you like Trump - therefore you are guilty of being an "ist/ism"
until they get Trump supporters so full of guilt over "everyone" thinking they are heinous evil people for voting for Trump or liking what Trump has done for the economy, for minorities - that they melt into a puddle of abject guilt

Strategy 3 COERCION:
Have the Democratic Leadership stand silently by while Democratic Party supporters assault Trump voters on average once every three days for the past three years
Even looking the other way when someone tries to drive into a tent full of Republicans trying to register people to vote; and to the point where on average, every three days for the past three years someone has been assaulted for wearing a MAGA hat.

Democratic Party analysts recognize the Democratic Party needs the votes of Republicans and from what I have observed have been using the strategy above to gain their support and votes.

Somehow I don't think guilt, shame, and coercion will turn people into anyone's supporters.

Do you see any other strategy at work? How do you see the Democrats going about letting prior Trump voters and current Trump supporters know that they are welcome in the Democratic Party and should consider voting for them?

One 2020 Presidential candidate told a woman who was against late term abortion if the mother and baby are both healthy, and implied strongly people who think like her don't belong in the Democratic Party. Is telling people they don't belong in your party a reverse psychology move? I'm having trouble with that, but perhaps they are using reverse psychology and I'm too ignorant to see the value in this strategy.

As an aside: I know some of you will say the Republicans are using the same strategy:

"Republicans are doing the exact same thing" - can you name when a Republican Senator/Congressperson who work for the RNS, call everyone who voted for Hillary an epithet that clearly says "I think everyone who voted for or supported Hillary is evil." Can you name a single person with a Hillary/Biden/Sanders/Warren etc. hat or t-shirt on that was assaulted by a conservative who saw them randomly in public and decided to assault them only because they had a Hillary/Biden/Sanders/Warren etc. hat or t-shirt on? It is only this particular strategy that I have seen over and over and over being used by the Democrats and their supporters. (I am NOT talking about when groups get worked up in protests, like ANTIFA, nor am I talking about weirdos who do things like shoot up a baseball game when the targets are all Republican. I am not talking about these outlier, weirdo type events. I AM talking about what is happening at a minimum 2-3 times a week by normally sane people.)

Finally: What strategy do you see the Democratic 2020 candidates using that say to Trump voters/supporters, and people against late-term abortions, you should vote for us? Where am I missing the boat on this one?

They can’t sway Trump supporters for votes. The only thing I’ve seen is their strategy backfire and turn their own supporters into Trump votes because most of the time their dissing their voters parents, children, etc. They think with their approval rating hovering around 20% is gonna make people turn on their own families to support these douches.

“Former Trump Voters”

Yeah. Ok.

The only former Trump voters in existence are the ones who have passed away but haven’t been removed from voter rolls yet. They’ll be voting dEm this time around.

It was either Bloomberg or Sanders that said, If you don’t believe in abortion then you have no place in the democrat party.

They are intentionally ostracizing their own party over issues.

And from some of the more recent threads, why align with a party who thinks you’re an idiot?

Their shaming and guilt trips don't work on most Trump supporters. We generally KNOW who we are, and we're not buying all the -isms and -ists and -phobias they are trying to sell. It no longer works. But, we know who they really are.

When someone like Hillary, Obama, Bernie, or any other Dem starts with their sermons and preaching about what Americans want, who Americans are, what America is, what America stands for, most Trump supporters, and indeed, most free-thinkers, turn these morons off.

And, more importantly, we turn off their controlled media lackeys. We have learned so much in the last three years.

Well, if they keep slamming Trump voters as stupid, I do not think that is going to happen. The only way a Trump supporter would be stupid is if they actually voted for a Democrat president right now. The Dems use all kind of deceptive tactics to increase their odds, they think people are blind sheep, that they cannot think because they are on meds that mess up their ability to reason. That is how the dems control their followers, but the Republicans know how to say no to meds that make them feel dopey.

Here's my shot in the dark:

Last time, they had every single big mouth, media player, even government agencies claiming their preselected leader would win- 9 to 1.
It's all we heard, to be fair- very few voting against the chosen one were represented. They wouldn't dare open their mouths at the office- they'd be Ree'd with sticks and stones.
I didn't hear a word in adult ed classes that year...

Yet, here I am once again in a BIG office- and today all I could hear were the cheers of at least 50% of the company talking about bernie. Upper management still sports hillary 2016 stickers in their offices, where they work.

Unfortunately my state was one of the lower population states to side with the socialists. Or, as I like to think of them, the communists. Even our split electoral college failed us, and three of those idiots sided with the three biggest cities- ignoring the people who want more out of life than weed, cheap rent, and just a little bit of freedom.

Can't wait to move further away from society, but I can't see this getting better as children get dumber.

The funny thing about this whole situation is that all they need is a really good candidate and this is the best they got. The Presidential debates are going to be very interesting to say the least.

Seems more like you are telling us, 'what the strategy is' However you are probably right to say that Democrats need to win over Trump supporters with the caveat of the electoral college's approval of course.

Methinks though that Trump is doing a damn good job of pooing in his own nest, and that the penny is starting to drop for many after recent events, Oh dear! that means a serious amount of pro Trump propaganda is required...and now!

Strategy ??
From the DNC ?

A losing DNC approach is not a "strategy", unless the DNC desires a Custer@LittleBigHorn outcome.

There are just no words....Ummm....allow me to better illustrate with a picture instead:

There.
Fixed it for ya !

the stupid thing is that talking head still had it wrong...

Its not trump voters they need its the people that threw their hands in the air and walked away from both parties last election because of the options.

A lot more people didnt vote than did, if they would just cast that vote for whatever third party is on the ballot in their state then maybe we can break the 2 party strangle hold.

I think Democrats just to need to stay on point with healthcare and wealth inequality and it will all work out find. If the Democrats try to be Republican Lite they will lose.

The billionaires and CEOs have gone too far. We have way too many monopolies and cartels. We have no free-markets. We need STRONG government again like we had in FDR to address of the injustices going on. Time to stop the corporation and billionaire socialism. Time to bring back Clinton era tax rates of 39% so we have a budget surplus again.

Democrats must convince voters to allow them (Democrats) to make the following corrections:

1. Get the unemployment rate back up to 8%

2. Get all foreign countries to screw-over the United States again

3. Get the tax rates up to 45% so social programs can be exploited

4. Pass laws that eliminate free speech by Conservatives

This.

Full stop.

EDIT: IDGAF about the DNC and there is (probably) no such thing as time machines but if the Dems really wanted to make Trump a one-term president they would have reigned in their three-year hate-fest and worked instead to flip two or three of the states Trump won.

Their focus on individual voters and "popular votes" is dumb.

I can't speak for Democrats, but personally I am hoping that Trump supporters come to the realization that they are facilitating a Mafia Style take over of the US Capitol through New York City corruption and the mindset of Roy Cohn.
