This book has been used as a leftwing talking point for years, even back to when Obama was elected. The people with TDS will make it out to be whatever they want it to mean.

Plus, you could have at least given the real author their credit for originating this story.

Trump IS America at this point so his fate is our fate. Trump and his cult followers cannot separate their identities from their fantasy view of what America is. Which is everything they are. White, Christian, Conservative Capitalist. Which is why anything that is not those things becomes a threat to America when it's really just a threat to their perceived superiority status in the social hierarchy. Their self worth was destroyed in childhood so they've attached who they are to this "American" identity that allows them to believe they are superior. Which is why 8 years of a black man in office felt like such torture to them. It was a daily reminder that they are not superior to anyone and they do not own America. Trump is psychological payback for that torture they suffered.

This quote from Lyndon B. Johnson sums it up quite nicely.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." -LBJ

Well.

Um. . .

Thank you for answering my question.

Nope. Trumps ego has no bounds. He does not use this. He uses his own book the Art of the Deal. The mere fact that those who oppose him have not simply found a way to counter that books shows they have no want to win and only want to make sure they can continue to line their own pockets with donations. Heavy donations when discussing impeachment.

That is over though. There is nothing else for the left and the resistors to do. The Progressives are being hit in the pocket and the last two times that happened out POTUS was shot.

I sense hatred in your post. This is common with most on the left that I talk to nowadays. Misplaced and irrational hatred. Then they project that on to the other side and say that those that don't agree with them are full of hate. Saul Alinsky-style. They sanctimoniously attack one's morals and virtues without taking into account the fact that we are all shaped by a different and unique life experience. No one person's is the same, but most of us are inherently good.

Do you know why dems are losing in the polls? Because they don't connect with Main Street, America. They lecture and they mock anyone that has a different viewpoint than they do and end their arguments by inappropriately assigning the other side a "racist/homophobe/misogynist/nazi/etc." label where none of that exists. That is not the way to win hearts and minds, and it comes off as deranged and unhinged. The last people that we need running this country are deranged and unhinged socialists (and some of them communists) like Pelosi, Shiff, Schumer, Biden, Harris, Omar, AOC, and Sanders. Those are the people that are the face of the dem party right now, though. And that is a problem for them.

I am an independent. I am the person dems and pubs are trying to win the vote of this coming November. I will tell you this. The last 3 1/2 years has not been very good for your side in that respect. And last week was an abomination for the democratic party in general. Their nadir to this point. Their lies, false allegations, childish behavior, and attempt to overturn an election have been uncalled for and have been catalogued by many of us. The left needs to go back to the drawing board, revise their failed policies, cut out the TDS, and soften their rhetoric. They also need new leaders. The current ones are out of touch with the rest of society.

Try to understand the other side's point of view instead of attacking them all the time. When you attack, you get attacked back. That is the current state of politics these days. It is why nothing gets done. You are always going to catch more flies with honey. Not the leftist hatred that you spew.

To quote another famous leader (and fellow independent): "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

a 70 year old playbook

Wanna know why your side lost in 2016, has continued to lose at every step you've taken in 2017, 2018, 2019, and will proceed to lose the 2020 elections as well? Wanna know the secrets to your own failures? The answer is simple... found in the usage of the word "playbook". Y'all think this is a game. You're playing laser tag against a team armed with M16s and long knives and your leadership is simply too damned stupid to realize they're not going against people who are out here to play games. We were tired of watching our earning stolen, our freedoms crapped on, and our country ransacked with issues like earnings, enumerated Rights, and national security treated like pawns in a game, so we got real. Try to find THAT explanation in a 70 year old book. You found something that confirms your biases while shielding the little bubble of BS your party needs their sycophants to reside in so the Narrative isn't questioned... what you want, a cookie?

Here, have a damn cookie. You've changed nothing, including breaking free of that bubble that clouds your ability to see the world as it actually is.

Another LBJ quote These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.

a threat to their perceived superiority status in the social hierarchy. Their self worth was destroyed in childhood

"You have a perceived superiority arrogance" and "your self worth was destroyed in childhood" are contradictory statements.

As for Obama, let's cut to the chase. If you want to say the Right hated him purely because of racism, then I may as well start preaching that the Left only loved him and felt comfortable voting for him because he was half white and they felt secure in that. Heads I win, tails you lose... the narrative moving forward is now that the Right hated the black side of Obama while the Left adored his white half. Deal with it feathery ice crystal.

I'm not a democrat or a liberal but nice try.

I grew up in the household of current Trump supporters. The Fox News/Rush Limbaugh "Christian" conservative kind. I know their psychology better than I know anything. I had to learn it to survive due to being the family scapegoat. I know them better than they know themselves and the fact that they do not know themselves is precisely the problem. They are blind to their own ignorance, hypocrisy, immoral behavior and they hate anyone who tries to tell them the truth about these things. And now the same delusion that I fought in childhood and barely escaped has manifested in the White House and infected half the country. I know none of you who are under the shared psychosis with Trump can see this but I see it clearly and its frightening how I can spell it all out for people right in front of their faces and all I get are whataboutism's talking about Obama or using buzzwords meant to just discredit people instead of addressing their points. Look at this thread. Nothing but psychological defense mechanisms like projection and deflection to protect themselves against the truth I am speaking. The Democrats are # too but right now they are looking like very stable geniuses compared to Trump and his cult.

Trump's policies have allowed the People to break free of the restrictions that previous presidents put on our businesses and individuals. Anyone else could have done this, but they didn't. Unlike the way Dems want to run things, Trump has made it possible for the rest of us to do better so we're not dependent on the federal government. His love for country and people flies in the face of the Alinsky model and Dems hate that. So much that they claim we Trump supporters are mindless robots worshiping a cult leader. That couldn't be further from the truth. We support ANYONE that does what's right for our nation, we will not support anyone that doesn't. Dems will, but the rest of us won't because we are strong enough to know the difference between right and wrong, unlike supporters of the communist/socialist leaders in our society and left wing of the government. No matter how much or how loud Dems scream and whine and cry about Trump, they're only doing it because he's making the USA better for the rest of us and that's not what they want.

Oblique, your message of racism is disgusting, I'm surprised it hasn't been flagged for deletion by the mods. The fact that you believe what LBJ said is sad. I sincerely hope you find the truth which you are missing by a mile.

I don't know who said it but the statement "If you believe everyone around you is the problem, it might just be you that is the real problem" fits very well here.

That's what narcissism is... Hatred of your true self so you create a false self where you compensate for your perceived worthlessness and act as though you are superior. This is usually done subconsciously but is obvious to anyone with any knowledge of psychology and understands how those with real confidence act as opposed to those who are pretending and overcompensating. So no, its not contradictory. It's how the human mind works.

As for Obama, let's cut to the chase. If you want to say the Right hated him purely because of racism, then I may as well start preaching that the Left only loved him and felt comfortable voting for him because he was half white and they felt secure in that.

The vitriol that was unfairly spewed at Obama was due to racism, yes. Trump supporters whine about how he's treated but seem to forget that they were such sore losers that they not only tried to delegitimize Obama's presidency, they tried to delegitimize him as an American. Then tried to delegitimize his masculinity by saying he was gay and Michelle was a tranny. And did Obama go on cry baby twitter rants every morning about how unfair it was? Nope. He had class and took it all in stride like a man. You all are so sure people are against Trump simply due to hate because you're all projecting your own hatred of Obama and Hillary onto anti Trump people. The first Derangement Syndrome was Obama Derangement Syndrome followed by Hilary Derangement Syndrome next.

Heads I win, tails you lose... the narrative moving forward is now that the Right hated the black side of Obama while the Left adored his white half. Deal with it feathery ice crystal.

Sorry to tell you but contrary to popular Trump supporter belief, reality is not subjective and you cannot just think something is true and then it becomes so. Facts and logic still apply. I know those things destroy your delusional fantasy world where Trump is the King of all and is going to save the world but someone has to be an adult and take them into consideration for the sake of us all.
