You can't say it was a start of a coup. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knew it wasn't going to go anywhere. Even Pelosi voiced doubts.

Have you been around the last three years? The impeachment is just the latest.

Yes and all that crap doesn't make for a coup either.

Calling it a coup is just political hype.

Why is this being soft pedaled as being an unusual aberration of behavior within top level FBI officials? Just because the Marines did not open fire does not mean a coup attempt did not occur.

Riffrafter: As a former Marine, I can tell you that if there was ever any real danger, there would have been a whole lot of blood on the walls.Truly.We protect our Commander-in-Chief.No matter what.

I know this. The tradition of being the Presidents own is so grand I cannot liken it to anything existing comparable.

Many have spent the last three years avoiding or outright denying reality.

No matter what is said or who says it, they will never believe that the President is not a Russian asset, or that he didn't engage in quid pro quo in a corrupt extortion attempt

Because he is. And he did.

We just had two months of testimony and hearings proving he did.

See what I mean?

Nixon wasn't forced to resign?? Technically, no. In reality, oh yes he was.

...and many believe that the Kennedy Assassination was, indeed, a coup. Orchestrated either by, or for, then sitting VP Lyndon B. Johnson.

Kennedy was making noises about removing, or at least curtailing, US activities in SE Asia, and upon his removal, or murder rather, US policy took a decided 180 degree turn is somewhat suspicious, to my mind, and others far smarter than I.

He was also about to do a deep dive on the CIA with the intention of dismantling those parts that were decidedly ignoring our Constitution and operating as if they had no authority to answer to. I believe that was also a big factor in his assassination.

In other words, he had no friends in low places.

No, a coup is an attack on a whole government/system. It is a regime change. Outing Trump would not be a regime change. Simple as that.

Of course the use of the term coup is for political agenda driven hype. And here you guys are showing that their tools still work against you.

You can play sophistry games all day long.

But it is what it is.

For the lazy...

FBI Director Christopher Wray agreed that the Justice Department and the FBI illegally surveilled Carter Page when they used British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s unverified dossier to obtain four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants against the Trump campaign associate.

I would bet there are some really pissed off VISA Judges...Don't think this will stop here. The whole premise to the VISA court is the agency that is coming to them brings accurate data that the court assumes is correct as they have very little time to investigate the data.

All this really makes Watergate seem so small doesn't it?

Do you mean FISA vs VISA?

It does, doesn't it. ...and there's a long, and rather dark, history of it within the FBI. Ol' J. Edgar built his power base the old fashioned way...by playing dirty. It's evident that the BI has a very long institutional history, and learned the lessons well.

J. Edgar...

The cross-dressing, paranoid, psychopath.

Head of the FBI.

Ah, the good old days...

The Senate looked at it, and essentially laughed it out of the room. Even those Republicans, save for one sanguine exception, who don't especially like Trump couldn't bring themselves to vote for anything other than acquittal.

Sanguine?

Well, that's certainly one word for him...

Employing felonious duplicitous acts for the sole purpose of removing a duly elected POTUS from office sounds like a coup to me.

Coup: The sudden overthrow of a government by a usually small group of persons in or previously in positions of authority.

The only part that fails to meet the description is 'sudden'. And the only reason it wasn't sudden is because democrats couldn't find their a$$ with both hands if they had a mirror and a map.

I'm shocked!
Shocked I say!

No.... No I can't believe it.
I won't believe it!
I shan't believe it!

Oh, the humanity!

Will you be laughing if trump does what obama did?
I think not.
Black nixon is responsible for the worst scandal in American history.
He used the power of the us intelligence community against his political rival.
Indeed. What the Obama admin did to thwart the Trump campaign was so much worse than Watergate. If the use of the FBI and CIA to directly influence a presidential election doesn’t terrify you, you’ve given up on government by the people and for the people. The bitter irony about this is the common belief on the left that Trump is or aspires to be a dictator.

I still remember when trump was running for president he was the 1st person to bring up the idea of Russian interference.

The following days he was mocked in the media for such a claim.

Even Obama addressed trump's comments about Russia and told the country...the u.s. election was the most secure system in the world.
And if trump was worried about losing , he should work on getting more votes, not Russia.

And then the minute trump becomes president, the Democrats are run the headlines that is was Russia collusion.

Something just a week prior they were mocking trump on.

Very weird group those Democrats

I'm saying that no ox is being gored.

Someone finally put up a definition and, lo and behold, it doesn't fit. There are 546 top positions in the current US government. POTUS is 1.
