The underlying causes of impeachment are not going away. Trump's determination to wield sweeping unrestrained power and his refusal to accept the checks and balances our Constitution dictates means we have finally entered into dictatorship. The Constitution is now toilet paper and has been flushed down the toilet.

Every democrat in the house is also an accomplice to trumps “crimes”. If they did their investigation properly they just might have something but that is a moot point. The way the house handed it off to the senate there was no other possible outcome.

For the first time in our history an attempt was made to remove a President with a purely partisan impeachment. An attempt was made to take away the right of "We the People" to decide who we want for president with our vote.

Now you are trying to make it sound like letting us vote to decide is somehow the equivalent of a "dictatorship"?

If the Dem's put forward a candidate I think is better, I'll vote for them. That's how free elections work. It's the Left that attempted a de facto coup. That's what the history books will say 100 years from now.

I don't hate the idea of a dictator in theory, but in practice does this specific dictator represent me? Of course not, everyone has different needs and believes, but the elite have reduced us down to 2 choices, Dem or Rep. Neither of these represent me (or anyone else). Why can't we have a strong social safety net with free healthcare for citizens while having open hunting on illegal immigrants...oh wait that would make me a nationalist socialist and that party has been banned from running and can't compete with corporate money. not to mention the only nationalist socialist parties are ignorant racists.

It says in the Constitution that after impeachment there is a trial before the Senate.

Surely at a trial you examine evidence and take witness testimony? Surely a fair trial is to determine if someone acted as alleged in the charges? To acquit or convict based on party allegiance is a travesty against the Constitution.

What happened in the Senate was not a trial.

The Trump circle jerk, replaced the Obama circle jerk and so it goes. There will be both Democrat and Republican Presidents in the future thanks to us having elections.

Personally I have hope that soon we will see moderate Independents in Congress and the White House. The Democrat's and Republicans have held us back for far too long. It would be nice to see a message of unity and optimism, rather than the partisan vitriol and spreading of hate.
