From a terror attack point of view I'm pointing at the climate activists, china being taken down would give us decades of extra time to sort the rest of the world out before it's to late

Just thinking outside the box here (well not really I'm copying 12 monkeys), but if you werea bioterrorist, and you managed to get your hands on something like this - wouldn't you travel around and launch it in as many countries as possible, rather than pick one where they WILL shut down cities and God knows what?

Would China even be the best place to launch it?

I kinda see what you're saying here... sort this climate out or else you'll all be going down with us kinda thing. Does seem a bit drastic though. I was thinking more islamic attack, especially if you look at which Country's are getting infected.

I read a book couple years ago about this exact scenario, although in the book... the terrorist was caught before letting off the virus! At first he had tested it in Afghanistan or somewhere..

I wondered where the cruise ship cases would get counted too. We know there are several from various countries, but it seems that they aren't being added to any of those countries tallies.

In military terms they are acceptable casualties. All in a confined space, easily guarded and quarantined. Better they stay there than risk movement of such a large number of people to another area with all the associated risks. Crap scenario for them but that's the way it goes. From a medical view point, this could be a very good opportunity to observe and learn.

This is a war we are facing. I'm not interested too much in numbers, just the threat and how it can be stopped.

I truly feel sorry for those on board.

Think of the impact to the climate already, how many planes have stopped flying, cruise liners arent going to be popular anymore. And china with all the factories and pollution, I bet climate activists are already rubbing their hands together even if it wasnt them.

Could be the tally at the top that says Others: 61

I think China would be agood spot because of all the travel in and out and the huge population to get it started spreading.

But yeah, those stats don't look good. I guess in another week, we'll know if the sh@@ has really HTF

Single-cell RNA expression profiling of ACE2, the putative receptor of Wuhan 2019-nCov

This new coronavirus has resulted in thousands of cases of lethal disease in China, with additional patients being identified in a rapidly growing number internationally...

Severe infection by 2019-nCov could result in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and sepsis, causing death in approximately 15% of infected individuals.

This research paper was from 26th January. With too many accounting irregularities to take the official numbers seriously at this time, a 15% mortality rate is closer to reality with all that I am seeing than the 2% rate more commonly stated.

Yeah and that Japan one is wrong, apparently there are 85 there now.

If you add the Others: 61 to Japan's 24 you get 85. I bet the 61 is from the cruise ship.

I think the reason we havnt heard much from the countries I'm guessing you're referring to is they dont get many chinese tourists? Also testing facilities, dont think Syria or Iraq would be very well prepared tbh?

Latest MedCram. If you believe the official nummbers, things may just be peaking in China. That doesn't mean the rest of us are clear, but they may be getting past the worst of it in Wuhan at least.

I was thinking there are other places equally densley populated with poor sanitation etc like India.

But I suppose it's only China that has (the largest migration on earth of) hundreds of millions of people travelling here, there and eveywhere for their new year.

So timing and location is a bit suspect I suppose.

That one doesn't sound good either... if the 2 meet? Terrorists wet dream!

But i guess I should stop speculating and pushing fear onto people.
