They probably can not afford testing. It’s like Thailand was 30 years ago.

Hey CrazeeWorld777: Ever heard of perspective? Irony? Sense of humor? It keeps the doom porn from becoming mass panic and is very useful for the survival of the species. Or we can just continue on the "we don't really know but we're all assuming we should be at Level 5 mass panic level. And as for "wasting pages?" LOLOL. This is ATS, where money is made off of "user generated content."

SMH.

Innit odd the one guy up close getting off a plane had a huge smile?

Then........nothing. Not a blip of personal anecdotes from those living to tell the tale of survival we all want/need to hear so badly?

Yep, you got me. I googled the numbers.

I understand that there is a lot of emotional distress going on, and when this pandemic is over we'll be able to see what the overall affects are.

I understand a lot more than you assume.

You probably won't accept that, but that's fine.

As a fellow aviator I don’t quite see your logic. We train and prepare for things that can go wrong with our aircraft in order to have a positive outcome that is what we get paid for. Not closing borders, stopping flights and letting everyone continue to roam to and from affected areas is akin to having an engine fire...sure you have taken care of things to an extent but do you really want to continue to your destination thousands of miles away on one engine or land at the nearest airport. Which is the lesser of the two evils. I for one don’t want to end up a smoking hole somewhere!

Things don’t seem to be adding up with China in regards to what they are saying and what they are doing. No one knows what is really happening and how bad things are or aren’t (well I’m sure a select few do). So like a good pilot I will prepare and plan and continue to monitor my gauges for any real abnormalities. Pick up a few extra items and perhaps stock up a bit in the chance things really do go south.

I've heard China is under reporting the number of cases and deaths, by a substantial number.

Any coronavirus down players comparing to Influenza, coronavirus has a stronger mortality rate. 2% vs 0.095%

Yeah, it's possible that the Laos government just shut everything down. We might not hear anything from them.

Just read this in guardian article from this evening

"The UK’s four chief medical officers called on travellers from a list of countries popular with Britons or with higher numbers of cases to self-isolate when they return – guidance that had been confined to arrivals from China."

"new guidance told those who had travelled to the UK in the last 14 days from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau with a cough, fever or shortness of breath “to stay indoors and call NHS 111, even if symptoms are mild”

www.google.com...

Surely this will include australia and usa soon aswell

2% still means that roughly 2 will die out of every 100 who get it. Those still are not good odds that you will die.

Sit down and roll d100 and see how many times 01 or 02 comes up on any 1 roll. That's your odds.

People in my personal life who are downplaying the situation compare it to the threat of influenza which has a higher number of reported cases and deaths but I am pointing out that coronavirus is much more powerful.

Hey game over man: respectfully, I don't think we can really assume that, yet, nor with a knowledge of statistics, know that, yet. We must have true infection numbers, compared with things we don't really know yet.....like, time of infection, how infection happens, and true travel numbers compared with a real epicenter.

The truth is WE REALLY KNOW NOTHING. We can ASSUME we have very little data, and that would be a safe assumption. We can also ASSUME we aren't being given any real info, and that would likely be safe, as well, just according to past practices.

Other than all that, there is almost NOTHING present to compile any sound statistics.

Just don't wanna see the world go into panic phase before we should, as the panic kills more than the reality.
JMHO.
regards and be safe and well,
tetra
