Using a wagon loaded with 99 second-hand smartphones, he was able to "hack" Maps to create virtual traffic jams throughout Berlin.

This guy is one of a kind. I like the way he interact with technology with a simple red wagon (ya full of phones I know ) ...it's like Google facing David with his wooden Express. Will this gives ideas for geek people to clear their neighbourhood of heavy traffic?

Anyway something not into politic right now is a nice change to me

Great idea! So the ambulance is trying to get to the heart attack victim's house, sees the traffic jam on Google Maps and must divert to the next bridge over, arrives ten minutes later, and the victim is dead. It's a nice little joke and all, ha ha, but here's hoping it doesn't become a trend.

Great art disrupts stuff and breaks perceptions. Except in crazy-town, where its the job of new tech to disrupt stuff and control perceptions. Ideally, this exposes a weakness in Google's rainbow and forces them to play firefighter. If they are busy making sure the ambulances get through, they'll be too busy to do their normal evil.

Your interrogations are valid but I can assure you as a 20+ years of emergency driving that we do not use Google Map traffic display to lay our path, never. You know your sector, the traffic load time wise, the road which will get icy first etc... and use the flashes/sirens to get through. The only impact imho will be on regular users.

Be well Jeff

It's pretty crazy that there's that many people using google maps to navigate. What percentage of drivers could this be?

Last year, 144 people were rescued by emergency services after getting lost in the area, including two hapless tourists in a Porsche who ended up stuck on a narrow mountain pass, according to Il Messaggero.

I hope it was at least the SUV model. This is just evidence there are people who trust Google more than their own sensibilities. The world will never be safe for everybody.

anything that provokes a response in other humans that has been created by someone else

basically you can call that art

Lots of art is already illegal depending on which country you goto

graffiti art , hugely illegal

But this is another level of stupidity , it should be illegal because people can die as outlined by other members regarding emergency services
the guy should really do time for this or public services .

Art shouldnt really cause suffering , as it is antithesis to what art is

This is just some guy trolling. Nothing artsy about it.

Clever yes. Artistic, Not so much.

ETA: Then again this is "art" to somebody considering we had a banana taped to a wall worth 150k of money laundering

This man is doing the community a service, he is showing people that their trust and reliance on technology is misplaced. What he has done is shown a loop hole that can not be ignored, companies hire people like him to find holes in their system before the bad guys do. That said, there are other technologies he could disrupt with minimal effort that could shake up the retail sector.

Interesting and I am not denying what you have said, makes sense sort of
But
What doesn’t create a response in others

I Might be missing something

What Is the Definition of Art?
Search domain www.thoughtco.com/what-is-the-definition-of-art-182707www.thoughtco.com...
Art as Representation or Mimesis. Plato first developed the idea of art as "mimesis," which, in Greek, means copying or imitation. For this reason, the primary meaning of art was, for centuries, defined as the representation or replication of something that is beautiful or meaningful.

The definition of art has obviously changed since Plato

Many things can be artistic , in my opinion anything that is a human expressing themselves to other humans is art
of course its all subjective as to what is good or bad art
but quality cannot be denied

as the human brain and our society evolves so does our idea of what is art

all you have to do is look at art throughout the ages

cave art, to the modern artists is like childs drawings, our art will evolve alongside our reality

Plato is right , in the classical definition , art is a representation of life , art imitating life
a reflection of the divine .

What is your favourite piece of "art" ?

This, bit more than just a painting

Nothing like good commercialism and absurdity

No argument with your definition, just don’t see the artistic value in phones and google in my poor and uneducated opinion. Just look at my fave art piece as evidence

hahaha thats a mad ad , Ive never seen that before .

yeh I dont see that as very artistic the google phones thing because of the lack of consideration of the emergency services aspect.

These sort of instant art pieces dont really have the quality of labour or patience
but they are automatic and that itself is quite artistic , the greater question there is are we actually thinking about the process or are we drawing inspiration from somewhere else automatically.
Is our art even ours ?

Surely due to your affinity for religious history and culture you must love art , as a reflection of the one or divine ?

I would love to say yes, I appreciate art for other people and the value they attach to it but unfortunately it would not be sincere for me to say I love art
It’s mostly lost on me
No classic education

Jesus taught love.
Art relating to Christ is a form of worship I suppose, maybe it’s even existential, not to me.
Reflect on the one Devine, I go and love people, well try

I did like the Piss Christ, pissed on Christ myself a few times, think most have.

I've used Waze for the longest time as it shows traffic jams, accidents, etc.

Of course, Google bought them recently.

So I guess I use Google too.
