Coronavirus Wasn’t Sent by ‘Spy’ From Canada

There has been a lot of fake news surrounding the new coronavirus 2019-ncov. News stories from around the web and social media including Zerohedge.com, has been spreading rubbish claims that 2019-ncov was stolen from a Canadian BSL4 laboratory and sent to China. As these sorts of things normally go, some facts are mixed with false information and then go viral (pun intended).

However, Eric Morrissette, a spokesman for the Public Health Agency of Canada, told us by email, “this is misinformation and there is no factual basis for claims being made on social media.”

The false claim appears to have originated on a Texas money manager’s Twitter account. On Jan. 25, Kyle Bass tweeted: “A husband and wife Chinese spy team were recently removed from a Level 4 Infectious Disease facility in Canada for sending pathogens to the Wuhan facility. The husband specialized in coronavirus research.”

Bass included a link to a CBC News story from July that did not support the claims he made in his tweet.

The next day, ZeroHedge, a website that has published misinformation before, posted a story with this headline: “Did China Steal Coronavirus From Canada And Weaponize It?”

As we said, Bass’s tweet includes a link to a July story by CBC News, Canada’s publicly owned news service, that doesn’t support his claim.

But Cpl. Caroline Duval, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, told us by email, “There is no connection between the outbreak in China and any RCMP investigation.”

The Public Health Agency of Canada is denying any connection between the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg, two scientists who were escorted out of the building last summer, and the coronavirus outbreak in China.

"This is misinformation and there is no factual basis for claims being made on social media," Eric Morrissette, chief of media relations for Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada said in response to queries by CBC News.

The RCMP and Health Canada have both stressed that there was no danger for public safety.
CBC reporting never claimed the two scientists were spies, or that they brought any version of the coronavirus to the lab in Wuhan.

CBC discovered that scientists at the NML sent live Ebola and Henipah viruses to Beijing on an Air Canada flight March 31. The Public Health Agency of Canada says all federal policies were followed. PHAC will not confirm if the March 31 shipment is part of the RCMP investigation.

Contrary to posts on Twitter, the coronavirus was not part of this shipment. And there is no confirmation Qiu or Cheng were the scientists behind the shipment.

Ummm…how do...you...personally know whether any of those claims are factual...or not...?

Because some quasi government agency said these are the facts...?

I mean...I know governments don't lie to their populations...not even once...

They're so altruistic...


I just loves it when peeps make claims of fact...and truth...

Because the fake news has been tracked back to it original source, Texas money manager’s Twitter account, a guy called Kyle Bass. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Of course Canada would deny any connection.

It's all part their plot to cover the earth in maple syrup. Deny, deny deny!

what is truth and what is fake? Most things "they" tell you are a lie, blissfully we believe the lie. It all comes down to what agenda folks are trying to push to proclaim truth and fakeness.

Whether or not this thing was created or isolated in Canada and smuggled to China, this couple was actively giving the Chinese secrets related to coronavirus research among other things. Knowledge misapplied is a dangerous thing.

But all of that assumes this was a bioweapon that got out.

I still say never assume man did what Mother Nature is more than capable of doing all on her own. The conditions for both origins of this bug were more than present in Wuhan.

How do you know that this couple was actively giving the Chinese secrets related to coronavirus research?
Did you read this thread and it's sources I provided. It had nothing at all to do with coronavirus.

I guess people would rather believe misinformation from a tweet than actual facts regarding this. Kinda says a lot lol

I think you uhh need to uhh learn how to read. The factcheck article in no way supports the coronavirus stolen fake story, quite to opposite if you are able to digest simple english.
