I simply think the system needs to collapse to be fixed.

Everyone is on the take so it won’t get done until a collapse.

The US can’t go down the socialist road and do a NHS system for a few reasons.

1 - Americans will reject higher taxes, that’s baked in to our psyche.

2 - everyone wants to get paid more money; doctors, nurses, administrators, and everyone everywhere. But how much it too much pay for medical jobs? Not an easy thing to solve.

3 - If taxes were raised do you really think that money will be used efficiently by govt? I don’t. Most Americans don’t.

Of personal note - my parents have excellent insurance as retired state employees. One primary care provider took advantage of this and had my father on 2 blood pressure medications which shouldn’t be used together and 1 had negative side effects when mixed with his other medicine for something else. When I got involved and starting asking why he was on these the answer was “we tried them out to control his blood pressure”. That does not sound like medicine to me but profiteering, there more to it but that’s the short version.

We took him off both and his blood pressure normalized and his anxiety attacks stopped.

You must not of read the other guys response but big pharma owns the Democrats and Republicans. Big pharma calls the shots not politicians . Same as banks and the military industrial complex . The politicians are only there so you think you have a choice . We don’t . They work for the corporations basically. You should know that by now

Cant believe i agree with user of op. That NEVER happens. If we ever meet we will remember to talk heath care instead of politics.

I had to go to the ER on new years a frw years back since al clinics and UCs were closed. I knew it woud cost hundreds but i was getting weak on day four with....yikes....the big D...and i mean the very widespread big D that killled millions in the past but is only serious in rare occasions in the developed nations. Weve all had it a hundred times and been juzt fine. I wasnt getting better though and those over the counter opiates you take to stop it....whats it called...amodium HD or something....they stopped helping. I was in and out in 25 min. Went to triage to a sorting bed but just sat in the chair and they gave me a bag of saline and it cured me instantly. It had dehydrated me and i just didnt feel thirsty so i didbt know. Fast forward to the bill in the mail. Lists one paper gown, one saline bag, one intraveinous catheter, one IV needle, and the total?

Eleven THOUSAND dollars. Ibsurance got half and i was out 5500 bucks for a bag of salt water and a few cents of steel. Now i know better. Theres no rationale tho othet than highway robbery for those prices.

Yes, it does suck.
After I got thrown under the bus and was forced onto Obamacare....I never could pay off the 6000-7000 deductible...so in effect had no insurance.

I actually look forward to being old enough for Medicare...so I can afford the doctor again.
