Tail number was November 72 Echo Xray (N72EX).

If anyone wants to run a flightradar history on it.

ETA - Might be informative to know what altitude it was flying at. I'd do it, but I don't have a paid subscription and I think you need one to do that lookup.

I'm thinking either CFIT, or some kind of major rotor failure.

In some respects I almost hope it was CFIT, because at least it would have happened fast, and been over fast.

Just to be clear. This is a horrific tragedy. Rest in peace and God bless all who died in this terrible accident today. I genuinely pray for all the loved ones who will now have to deal with the grief and sadness and have to eventually and hopefully, put their lives back together.

So very saddening.

May the family find some comfort in this very sad time, RIP Kobe

Witnesses on the ground said they heard a sputter and then an explosion shortly aftwards. I'm not putting much stock in that report.

That is not what I would expect to hear from a helicopter like this under just about any circumstance. Even a flame out on one engine would sound more like a bang.

Yeah, sorry. I forgot you posted that pic on page 1. I knew I saw it somewhere, but I went and looked it up.

Anyway, you were on it. Would be nice to see a flight profile for today though.

I was not a fan or BB watcher, but the /name was in the sports page for years on end...

RIP, I just know he likely had big dealings being done to increase his standing in society that are now cast away, too bad

Much Respect.... RIP to him & family AGAIN

I searched it..
Can't find it.
Flight Aware gave yesterday's flight as the last reported.
We don't really know yet if he chartered that bird yet.
And I was confirming what you were reporting. You're doing great.

Edit: you're reporting it great under absolute crappy situation.
edit on 26-1-2020 by Bigburgh because: (no reason given)

Man this is weird. I was just reading how LeBron just passed him in all-time NBA scoring. Hope it's not true!!!!

Being the man he is, Kobe Bryant sent out a congratulatory tweet to LeBron James just last night.

This tweet from 2012 says Kobe Bryant would likely die in a helicopter crash. Kind of spooky.

A lay person's account is notoriously inaccurate. There maybe some home or business surveillance camera's that caught it. However if it exists it may not be made public.

I really want to know what the investigation tells us. As posted earlier the S-76 has an excellant safety record and one would think one that is often rented by big stars would be very well maintained.
