I think it is almost a guarantee it is significantly worse than they are telling people. The Chinese government is never forthcoming with information, and are massive, untrustworthy liars. They care more about image than anything else.

Nearly 40 million people on lockdown in 14 Chinese cities.

All 70 thousand movie theaters closed.

Because 26 deaths and 881 infected.

I don't buy that. They are going to take a massive economic hit from this.

Something way more serious is taking place IMHO.

Can you provide a link for the information mate before I completely run out of toilet roll and gas masks from reading this thread.

Thanks

Not faulting you here or anyone else, just looking objectively at the facts...

First link still says at the bottom after all the sensationalistic journalism of the article (nothing new yet at all but they have to make money)...

"As of Friday, more than 800 people had been infected by the virus globally, and 25 had died by it in China. Eight Chinese cities near the center of the outbreak β€” home to tens of millions β€” have been put on lockdown."

800 people infected out of approximately 7.7 billion with still just 25 dead, only one place in the world where any have died, China (population 1.4 billion approx) to put it into perspective...

Second source says the following in order;

BREAKING: Scientists move symbolic Doomsday Clock to 100 seconds before midnight, the closest ever, citing threat of nuclear war and climate change

Nothing sensational about that at all. Just a normal report of sensationalist news.

BREAKING: Chinese cities of Huanggang and Chibi are now on lockdown due to coronavirus, raising number of people in locked down cities to 18.5 million

BREAKING: Chinese officials say a 4th city, Xianning with a population of 2.5 million, will be put on lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus

BREAKING: Chinese city of Jingzhou to be put on lockdown at 5 p.m., raising number of people in locked down cities to 35 million

Waiting on the next update - World explodes due to Chinese King Kong taking dump on toblerone.

PS: here is an almost realtime and accurate map of all disasters/outbreaks/earthquakes/eruptions/epidemics or anything else occuring on the planet at the moment, its one of the most accurate and unbiased sources you can find these days...

26 dead and 881 infected is absolutely not sensational.

35+ million people on lockdown is.

All Chinese theatres shut down, and now other big venues such as Disneyland, Casinos etc is pretty huge.

Hence why something else is up. In this case, it's the Chinese govt feeding the news non sensational numbers.

35 Million out of a population of 1.4 billion in one country is not sensational at all.

500 million would be sensational or maybe 200 million at the least but that spreads into opinion rather than facts since there is no actual figure, for what is sensational or panic mode numbers.

If reports are accurate they are doing what they need to do to stop it spreading if it is an outbreak.

Bit of perspective and level headedness is all I am saying here.

35 million of anything is pretty sensational. We're going to see more, bet on it. China is also a massive chunk of land.

Imagine if they shut down say... California? Not sensational?

The thing is, this is all experemental because 35+ million people have never been quarantined before, and certainly not for 25 deaths.

Yes... you can always choose where you lay your own perspective.

Would you rather:
A. Overreact and be told afterwards you overreacted

Or

B. Play it down and hope for the best with minimum meassures taken... Only with the risk of causing a world spread infection that spirals out of control.

Id choose A any day.... if you have two options, and one of those two potentially could lead to massive destruction, the sound choice is to choose the option with minimal destruction.

So... with all respect to your total population comparison. Right now you can make it on the premise that they in fact ended up choosing to react. They did do something.... and are doing something. If they hadnt those numbers would be very mucj higher.

We already have more confirmed infected in 1 month than sars did in 3 months. At that number will cross over 1000 today. They have another 1000 that are suspected. Thats almost 2000 in 1 month.... again, sars had 305 in 3 months.

If CV continues in this pace for 2 more months, it will have spread almost 20 times faster.... and be 25 times more deadly.

We probably will see more, we are overdue for something horrible to come along if history is anything to go by.

Ive seen this type of thing many a time now in my life. BSE, all the farms closed, everyone panicking, cannot go fishing with land being closed everywhere. Have to do chemical scrubs etc before entering places. BSE is still around but ignored by the media - public calm after panicking

SARS- Remember that one?

Swine Flu - Remember that one?

AIDS - Remember that one?

Flesh Eating Disease - Remember that one?

The list goes on... every 4 years or so there is a new one and always will be.

All of them still exist and still cause more deaths per annum than this new "outbreak" has so far...

Im just waiting to see what the "solution" provided by the narrative is, that often tells more truth than the overhype does is all I am saying.

You're right, there was SARS and all the rest. Never this type of quarantine process. Let's hope it's a super cautious reaction from the Chinese govt since SARS was handled so badly.

I have my doubts, however. The Chinese govt doesn't seem the type to take such an economic hit unless forced into it. Much downplaying ensues to save face in the process. I do hope I'm wrong though.

I agree with you in what you say. Not exactly the most trustworthy source of Gov.

I just, think there is more to this than meets the eye and im waiting to see the solution to the narrative. That will tell the full story.

The last big outbreak solution spread everywhere was to get Tamiflu vaccinations for a virus that was and still is not-treatable for patients with swine flu yet here we all are, still alive (the H1N1 tamiflu resistant strain with said outbreak)

If this is a real virus that is something to worry about, there will be no existing solution to it that will come out soon. The sensational narrative already suggests otherwise and pre planned.

BecAuse people treat the flu like a cold...... pop some pills, head to work, infect two more....

Some basically you are confirming that people are stupid and downplaying disease is stupid. Thank you

I have a question, sorry its not an update.

But how do they differentiate people with common cold/flu symptoms, to people with the Coronavirus?

I mean imagine the millions of people over there panicking and going to the hospitals when they just have a normal cold/flu 😐

There's probably a really simple answer, but I cannot think of it yet as it's early

On topic, the updates are a genuine concern to me, because I also think we are not being given the full story πŸ˜•

The type of virus is detected by matching its RNA (converted to DNA) to the Gene database. The full genome for the virus has already been sequenced and uploaded, it is accessible to anyone. Genbank

Probably taking some samples of their fluids and send them on some testing? I wonder if those tests take long ass time like bloodtests for some rare diseases

It could only take a few hours to get a result, it depends on the type of protocols used. The specimens don't have to be incubated like a bacteria culture.
