I'm not normally one to post a new thread when multiples exist, but there's no thread for overall updates.

It would be good to have 1 thread where updates can be placed. Ill let the mods decide.

Construction begins in Wuhan to build a hospital, scheduled to be completed in six days, to deal with the escalating epidemic #WuhanCoronavirus infection. In 2003, to control #SARS, Beijing built a hospital in seven days with a capacity of 1,000 beds.

A couple of good twitter feeds that have constant updates - and seem to beat most MSM

Wasn't sure where to put this. . . . .

July 4th, 2019

A researcher with ties to China was recently escorted out of the National Microbiology Lab (NML) in Winnipeg amid an RCMP investigation into what’s being described as a possible “policy breach.”

Dr. Xiangguo Qiu, her husband Keding Cheng and an unknown number of her students from China were removed from Canada’s only level-4 lab on July 5, CBC News has learned.

A Level 4 virology facility is a lab equipped to work with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases. That makes the Arlington Street lab one of only a handful in North America capable of handling pathogens requiring the highest level of containment, such as Ebola.

I posted in the other thread with some new info. It’s as contagious as Spanish Flu.

Those photos are scary even for China.

Wife seeing these on WeChat everyday. She saw those photos this morning on WeChat.

one of the C-suite executives at my company is in Taiwan visiting their parents currently... wondering if they will be back home next week as planned or will need to be locked down like we are seeing in a number of other areas. The number has jumped from 600-something cases, and 17 deceased to 850+ cases and 25 deceased in about 24 hours (with the number of countries/cities affected going up as well).

The spread seems to be accelerating...

900 that we know of..
Because it spreads faster than a Pyrmid scheme on steroids. With very little incubation time.

In china 900 is a minute minute number, you are not wrong. But 900 people can spread to a bunch more. 900 is the rough reported amount, then there are those who are feeling ill and go about their day. 48 hrs and we'll see the spread.

Better they be proactive for the moment..
Especially when they created an industrial accident with no known cure.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Department of Health says a Tennessee Tech student is being tested for the Coronavirus.

The student had "very mild symptoms" and had a recent travel history that met the criteria to test for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), according to university officials.

Everyone who has been through China and is showing flu like symptoms will be presenting to hospitals for testing.
This doesn't mean its spreading or they're infected.

900 is the confirmed cases.

Last week people in Wuhan (via WeChat) were telling people that hospitals were turning away sick people because they were full.

If they arent tested and arent confirmed then they arent in the '900 cases' figure.

Seems that way. Unfortunately there is a huge amount of information that we arent and wont be given until it cant be contained anymore.. and even then we only get half the story. Its mainly the movements of patient zero.. the exposures.. how many people in each segment of time ( few hours to this so called 15 day incubation period.. and you can shed virus during incubation) etc. So we go from one person.. zero to 15 people in a week, and then to 900 plus spread out over a few continents in about 2 weeks. Youll know if we are in the deep do or not within about a weeks time if thats number had doubled, tripled, or exploded.

In our international world of travel now.. times are ripe for a pandemic from hell. You can watch news and get information.. but youll only hear what they want you to hear and your best bet is to avoid travel to those places where the risk is high and practice normal average protocols for making oneself safer from the common cold. Know the difference between face masks and particulate masks and respirators etc. The scary thing about health catastrophes is that you dont know its a catastrophe until its out of the barn and screaming down the road.

So the plot thickens...

Nature penned an extensive profile of what it called the "Chinese lab poised to study world's most dangerous pathogens." The location of this BSL-4 rated lab? Why, Wuhan.

A quick read of what this lab was meant to do, prompts the immediate question whether the coronavirus epidemic isn't a weaponized virus that just happened to escape the lab:

The Wuhan lab cost 300 million yuan (US$44 million), and to allay safety concerns it was built far above the flood plain and with the capacity to withstand a magnitude-7 earthquake, although the area has no history of strong earthquakes. It will focus on the control of emerging diseases, store purified viruses and act as a World Health Organization ‘reference laboratory’ linked to similar labs around the world. “It will be a key node in the global biosafety-lab network,” says lab director Yuan Zhiming.

South Korea confirms 2nd case
crofsblogs.typepad.com...

South Korea on Friday reported its second confirmed case of the China coronavirus amid mounting fears the pneumonia-like illness that is spreading throughout China and other parts of the world during the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), a South Korean who arrived at Gimpo International Airport, western Seoul, late Wednesday, tested positive for the new type of virus.
The 55-year-old man, who has been working in Wuhan, visited a Chinese clinic last week after suffering from a sore throat and other symptoms, the agency said.

He was sick last week in China showing symptoms and traveled to South Korea.
