For the purposes of spreading the disease, yes.

So a plane is faster, but that's beside the point. All a method of transportation needs to be is fast enough to ship people from point A to point B before they get obviously ill.

We have a 14-day window. Who cares if the jet does it faster? We're talking about mass movement of people around the globe. You had people stuffed like cattle into trains and ships easily fast enough to pretty much beat the incubation window in most circumstances.

It achieved the desired mixing of people as well as modern air travel does.

Aye, and chances are they are probably chock full of imported masks and gloves.

Smart thinking, city linking.

I went to china town this morning and bought two large boxes of dust masks in preparation for this.

In this case, you would have been better with the Mexicans!

The smartest thing to do right now is assume its here and act accordingly. If its airborne there is not much you can do besides avoiding crowds, and wear a mask when you have to go out.

Although this particular virus, which appears to have originated from infected live animals is new, coronaviruses are not.

Doctors know that these viruses, in general, can circulate easily among humans, and how they primarily spread through close contact with another individual, in particular through coughing and sneezing on somebody else who is within a range of about 3 to 6 feet from that person.

While they do not know all of the mechanisms of spread of the epidemic so far, its likely spread by droplets and contaminated surfaces, and possible airborne, similar to SARS.

You cannot just send in hundreds of thousands of third world people who have no skills, no education, no real form of knowledge as to how society works as a whole and expect it to go well.

This cannot be stressed enough!

I want to say "what were these people thinking?" but the answer is clearly either they weren't or they simply didn't give a rat's ass. Nothing else fits.
