In poker there's a term called "pot commited". Pot commited means when a player has already invested so many chips in the pot that he can no longer fold if he is raised all-in
That's how pro Trump folks on ATS are.
Every piece of evidence that exposes Trumps corruption or incompetence is met with denial because these people have invested so much time in defending him and portraying him to be this great genius patriotic leader.

That's probably true for many people on both sides.

When you raise the stakes by trying to over turn an election before the winner even takes office that pot gets very sweet very fast.

So he wanted to end the war gravy train and that makes Trump stupid.

Nice take

I voted for trump once, will vote for him again. There isn't a better candidate running again. Doesnt mean I like him. Doesnt mean half the people that voted for him like him. And I been losing faith in mainstream media long before trump was on the scene. All it takes is a little eye opening to see the bs going on. Tell me one thing you saw on the news in the last year that helped you in a decision that helped to improve your life.

lmfao

he avoiding fighting a fake war, and they diss him by calling him a draft dodger.

i will NEVER fight in a war ever.

i used to be a bouncer, so i do not mind taking a scrap.

but flying 20 hours to some stupid country to kill some guy i never met?

pass.

all wars are set up to make inter-nationalists richer. every war is an inter-nationalist war.

anyone in the armed forces should be stationed on US SOIL and WATERS only. then it would be awesome.

but the inter-nationalists want their profit, and what better way than to wage fake wars to collect profit.

I’m a vet, will vote for him again because the alternative is far worse.

Officers (I was one) mostly have their heads stuck up their asses.

They need a good ass chewing from time to time.

the sad thing is the DNC lost to him... and with the current crop of whack jobs they have fighting to run against him there is a good chance he wins again.

if the Democrats would offer something different than what they have and offer a platform that appealed to the majority of independent/middle ground voters they would have won 2016 in a walk, and would have won in 2020 as well.

Instead of people trying to tell me how horrible mean, nasty, juvenile trump is, give me a change I can accept to encourage me to vote against him.

But the economy is doing well, unemployment is down, (in record numbers for some groups) he appears to be fighting china for the economic benefit of America...

I didnt vote for Donald, wont in 2020 either, but no way will I vote for a democrat either.

The DNC needs a platform that cant be distilled into SJW talking points... higher taxes, more illegals, more infringement on our rights, bigger nanny state, they have forgotten how to speak to the blue collar worker that doesn't live on social media and scream in outrage over a tasteless joke.

Actually several Dem candidates are probably OK, it's just that team Trump has no qualms about character assasination and has control over several media outlets.

The Dems talk about political issues. Team Trump talk about sniffing hair, or clulessness, or make unfounded criminal allegations. It doesn't matter if it is true or not, is it damaging?

Quoted this for irony..

How many trump supporters have been labeled racist, sexist, Nazis etc if they publicly said anything good about trump.

Or look at people getting pissed at Vince Vaughn for having the gull to shake trumps hand... etc...

How about the pee gate dossier that was never verified...

How about the people wishing ill on baron because hes trumps son...

Democrats are not exactly squeaky clean when it comes to the last 3 years.

Well he (Trump) forced every other republican even thinking about challenging him to.. Not..

You really have no alternative other than Trump... And that's more than ok presumably

Washington post is fake news.

Anything that Trump fans don’t like is fake news.

It's fun watching them flip flop and turn on each other when the full truth comes out...

According to them, Trump had a lovely phone call with Ukraine and he released the transcript! They were all on board with that too and we're al vehemently calling everything else 'fake news'.

😊📰📰😒😅

I said this from day one : sit back and enjoy the ride

Thanks for the honest and decent answer DB and for not being one of the usual ATS posters who points out "You're British, so bla bla bla, you're opinion means nothing bla bla bla".

And thanks to the vast majority of posters who just want to post their opinions on this delicate subject without getting into the typical "mines bigger than yours" arguments.

Everyone is missing the point - it matters not whether this is factually based or fake news. In case anyone didn't get the memo, let me paraphrase it...

'henceforth any public servant accused of any crime or dodgy conduct shall be found not guilty by virtue of being extremely careless without intent - irrespective of all witness testimonies or the submission of indisputable evidence'

'Precedent - pwning everyone since the big bang'

As a us army and Air Force veteran I think trump is a horrible president. He has ignored the major issues such as the massive corruption and fraud that permeates our govt. IN fact, he should have devoted vast govt resources to one of the main issues of our time, the Epstein case, and all the pedos and rapists in govt that have associated with him. And he has directly exacerbated many of the key issues such as corporate predation on consumers and students. He has also ignored the coming economic collapse, and indeed has increased it with his tax giveaway that has inflated the stock market bubble.

As to whether he is worse than Obama, Bush, or worse than Clinton would have been, well that’s debatable. But he is far from good. And let’s not make allowances and excuses for his stupidity.

THE EMPEROR HAS NO BRAIN!

What you seem not to realize is that Trump is the only person that I can remember that even talked about corruption in government and said he would do something about it. Unfortunately, when someone tries to clean up "the swamp", the offenders will kick and scream to prevent it. Why do you think our career politicians (Nancy P., Shiff, etc.) can't seem to focus of business? They're working 24x7 to get rid of the one person that threatens their livelihood. If Trump weren't being put on the defensive for the last 3 years, where do you think the country could have come?

Trump isn't a saint and not someone that I could pal around with but, damn, he's a strong leader! Congress should keep him in check, not shackle him.

I dont believe anything WaPo or this book says because the involved players are demonstrable liars, with a robust track record of sensational falsehoods about this president.

That said, I would not have much of a problem with it if proven true. If he said this directly to their faces, as the book claims, then he let his nuts hang in a manner very few people in DC possess the sack required to do. Anyone who can look Mattis in the eye and directly insult him has ice water for blood.

The book is written by authors that work for Bezos

So what, Bezos PAC has donated to both Dems and Reps.

Trump's childishness couldn't be manifested better when Trump invited Bezos to be an advisor on a defense initiative board.
Bezos declined, and ever since a disgruntled Trump has villified Bezos with name calling and accusations, that would really apply more to Trump himself....that what Trump does, transfer his own misdoings onto someone else, and it's quite incredible how so few people can see this all played out before your eyes.
Trump is the real big fake, and one of these come shortly you might realise it.

President Trump chews out a bunch of Admirals and Generals. WAPO takes offense and reporters for WAPO write a book. ATS members go silly/happy over the latest Trump fiasco...

Now, as Paul Harvey used to say, the rest of the story. At least 197 Admirals and Generals were purged in one way or another by then President Obama. Washington Times Several very good sources report that president Obama was very wary of the current military command when he took office. His agenda was to initiate a socialist/communist political takeover of the government with the military's help or at the very least, when Obama couldn't get any Military Commanders to go against the US Constitution, to cut the funding and reduce manpower in the military to basically neuter all branches of the military. Obama Vs. the Generals

After getting rid of the DOD command structure of those who wouldn't "play ball" with Obama, He found and appointed those into command roles that had been vacated. The top two nominated by Obama to restructure the military were hand selected to carry out his orders. Top 2 Selected

Now then, the WAPO would like you to think that President Trump is just crazily threatening Admirals and Generals in the Penatgon because he is a megalomaniac narcissist just showing his ass and power to the "very upstanding Admirals and Generals of the Pentagon". Nothing could be farther from the truth. President Trump is having to either reshape the command structure to bring back those that follow the US Constitution or fire those that don't and were put in place by a former socialist/communist commander in chief. But of course Orange Man Bad, and all that jazz...

I have always quietly thought that you here on the left were of a slightly lower IQ than most. Most here, that did no research, have proved my thoughts to me...
In spades.

I haven’t actually read the book, so I’ll reserve judgement. It sounds interesting, but the real key is where did they get the information? Has it been corroborated, etc.?

Just because the WaPo reported on it and Trump fans don’t like the WaPo, doesn’t make it fake.

Most of the basic stories tend to be the same, detail-wise. Oftentimes things are fluid; more facts emerge; details are clarified, etc. And when they get it wrong, there’s usually an effort to correct it.

Where things really go off the rails is with the so-called “expert analysis,” opinion pieces, and speculation—the spin, basically.

The left detests rags like Breitbart, but some of their stories do seem to come from valid sources.

I know people in the armed forces who love Trump and people who can’t stand him. In fact, I see a lot of cars with “Veterans against Trump” type stickers.

The Afghanistan war is a quagmire, but recent reporting from the WaPo has shown that the last 3 admins have been lying to the public about it.
As commander-in-chief, Trump could impress the hell out of me by insisting on transparency with the American people. Just a few months ago, the pentagon quit publishing the numbers about how much territory the Taliban controls. Why?

I know what you’re saying. Couldn’t resist being a wee bit cheeky.

In all seriousness, they’ve done studies that suggest the news is indeed a shallow cycle of negativity that just induces anger & anxiety. I’ve got a copy of one study somewhere if you’re interested.

Really Epstein is the big thing out of so many dirrections that you see as a top priority for a President to do...lol geez This massive corruption can you name some of it that Trump could have fixed or caused in 3 years? BTW they couldn't devote vast govt resources since it was all being used ON TRUMP...lol give me a break.
