I've followed the economy for years. As far as I am concerned there really is only two measurements that matter for the working man in this country. If you look at first table nothing has really changed. There is no pressure on wages rising anytime soon. And if you look at the second graph and put in 3 years and 1 year both curves are grim as hell.

Employment-Population Ratio

And this one:

Purchasing Power of the Consumer Dollar

I want to vote for Trump but there is just no reason to. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe someone can post some kind of economic data showing me how great the economy is because I don't see it. It seems to me all Trump's touting is nothing but BS.

‘ I want to vote for Trump’ do you expect anyone on ATS to believe that!! You seem to criticize anything Trump does. You also seem not to pleased with anything pro American.
As a small business owner I can attest that the economy is booming, and jobs are at an all time high for minority’s. Now go about spewing your anti American BS again!

I was going to advocate just that.

Nothing else to say.

I'm not sure why you find the employment-population ratio concerning. 61% employment is the best the US has seen in many, many years. PPI is partially based on a very heavily manipulated inflation figure that is artificially lower than it should be due to it being redefined some years ago. If inflation was honestly reported in the US as is is among our top competitors, US PPI would be about the same as it has been since we left the Gold Standard (a move which is the real enemy to the US economy.)

As much as you've criticized everything Trump has done, I have significant doubts that you "want to vote for Trump" but if you are sincere, look a bit deeper, beyond just these two charts, and you'll see American households are in the best financial shape they've been in since before the Dot Com bust.

For those that have a 401K or something in a lifecycle account (low/moderate risk) the gains this past year have been substantial. Most are getting over 20% return over the past year which is unheard of considering during Obama the gains were not enough to keep up with inflation. Most of the time there were no gains. Many months I lost money.

One can say Obama inherited that mess which is somewhat true but he also did things that stifled it even more. He attacked Hillary on NAFTA for example in 08 but he did nothing about in in 8 years. Go watch the videos, all he talked about was NAFTA. People can hate Trump all they want but he actually did something about it. Is it perfect. No, but it's something. Same with China. This country has been leaking jobs and wealth like a busted fish tank for decades. People did not elect Trump on morale values either. They elected him because they were sick of the economy tanking.

Steve Jobs did horrible in school. It wasn't until his parents started rewarding him with cash the light bulb went off. Communism, socialism impedes progress. If there is little to no incentive then there will be almost no motivation by anyone to try something new, invent something. Just look at the results. Who has been pumping out more advances to mankind than anyone else the past 150 years. Even today, only one country has landed on the moon or put a rover on Mars. We actually put lots of rovers on Mars. Nobody else has done a damn thing on that level.

My income level went up 50% since Trump. During Obama it went up 15% in 8 years. My job satisfaction ratio is off the charts it is like being freed from a N K prison camp and entering shangra la.

Now go vote for Trump and when you do imagine Hulk Hogan's entrance back in the day to the tune "I am a real american"

3.9 unemployment reported which is the lowest in 50 years. If you are tired of flipping burgers or some other menial job you should have gone to a trade school or got an education of value instead of listening to CNN and MSN "Orange man bad".. Winners are saying MAGA is working just fine for them while the socialist/Communist/ NWO thugs are seeing all their hard work being flushed down the drain. Trump really did have a Magic wan even though Obama thought Trump did not really have one... Obama could not find the simple logical magic because once a socialist always a socialist IE make everyone suffer equally. IMO Socialist NWO folks Can't Understand Normal Things because that is just the way they are.

Anyone complaining about wages, it's highly unlikely they get anywhere in life financially. That paycheck is depreciating the day they cash it. A higher wage is not even a formula to build wealth. Have to invest some of that paycheck at a rate higher than inflation. The more the better. Eventually the returns will be greater than that meager wage but it takes time. Most don't have the patience for it.

We have about 50% of the country not investing anything or even saving for that matter. Add to that poor life choices like having kids, quitting their education or getting an education in fields with poor earning results. The wage end of the day is not the problem. It's resistance to invest and improve their skillset.

Communism is not the answer.. Sadly, most people it’s a fact were never taught life is not fair... Learn that, and only then can people persevere and make the country great.. It’s as simple as that.. End STEmili . It’s easy to be a champion once to maintain it is what scares most men,,

This is the thing about Trump because it is the economy for a lot of individuals that is keeping them going. My business of over 30 years is extremely sensitive to the whims of the economy. Yet as we change companies we rep and fight with internet sales our business is still firm and solid and supports 4 families. It honestly hasn't been this good in a long time, almost makes you feel like some of those economic challenges in the past decades were manufactured or at least manipulated. LOL, I remember when the Democrats slogan was its the economy, stupid. They have forgotten that somewhere along the way.

People have a hard time getting out of the mindset of working for money. Have to put the money to work as soon as possible. It doesn't even have to be much at first just get that money working.

Look at these candidates, all of them have investments, most are mulit-millionaires yet not one word about investing and saving in their message. They sure do though love talking about handouts, free stuff and horrible wages. It's comical but also sad. They are basically telling people they are all a bunch of dummies and will always need help at every single level in life.

I have a few simple questions for you.
How has Trump effected your life in a negative manner?
....and has Trump done anything positive in your eyes and if so what?

Only thing I can tell you is what I personally experience.

I don't make enough money to get tax cuts.
I make min wage 8.50 an hour.

I don't get anything back from the government at the start of the year.

My mom gets about 200$ more a year in her weekly pay checks due to the tax cuts. She gets paid $9 an hour. Been working at the same job for 10 years.
Recently something changed in medicare and medicaid and now her prescription meds are being paid for in full. But she was only paying $23 a month for them anyway.

The housing market sucks for people like me. Anything decent in my city is 800+ rent. Nothing under 150k to buy.
So most of our money goes to rent. Food prices are fine. I buy more than enough food with $100 each month.

I'm on the aca so my health care is super cheep.

I'm living pay check to pay check. Same thing I have been doing all my life. When I do work.
In short I'm doing the same as I was under obama and from my perspective the potus has little to do with any of it.

Taken as a percentage of the total, which would be in line with how essentially all economic expenditures and debts are compared in this world of vastly different incomes, tax rates, and inflation, Trump has seen the second smallest percentage of debt growth (behind only Bill Clinton) of any US President since LBJ. Debt reduction would be ideal, but history would indicate hes done way better than the average in slowing down the runaway freight train 16 years of Bush and Obama shafted us with.

I used to be concerned about our debt but It doesn’t seem to matter to our gov, so why should it concern me? Our Democrat leaders (who we all pay very well) just spent three years not doing a damn thing besides hating our prez and spent millions upon millions of dollars to do just that. I’m not stressing on the debt, besides paper and ink are cheap, they’ll just print more and cook the books, so they can continue receiving their exorbitant paychecks, benefits and of course their lavish lifestyles they get to enjoy since they get months of paid vacation per year. Yep, not worried about it at all anymore.

That's the biggest thing IMO. The govt is spending trillions and trillions and some of it is trickling down into the economy. I think the Trump admin is actually spending more than the Obama admin did and it has only been three years.

This kind of spending will float the economy for a while, but it isn't sustainable and when the GDP breaks 100% we may be looking at a total collapse.
