The U.S. and the United Nations put Soleimani on sanctions lists in 2007, though his travels continued.

In 2011, U.S. officials also named him as a defendant in an outlandish Quds Force plot to allegedly hire a purported Mexican drug cartel assassin to kill a Saudi diplomat.

Another cable in 2007 outlines then-Iraqi President Jalal Talabani offering a U.S. official a message from Soleimani acknowledging having "hundreds" of agents in the country while pledging, "I swear on the grave of (the late Ayatollah Ruhollah) Khomeini I haven't authorized a bullet against the U.S."

Target the five or six Iranian leaders that have been causing so many deaths over the last 30 years.

Honestly, despite the public saber-rattling, I'd be surprised if they actually tried something direct and conventional.
It seems more likely that reprisals will come in the form of asymmetric warfare--attacks from proxies in the ME, sleeper cells, etc.--that will allow for plausible deniability.

That is what Israel did. They assassinated about a dozen Iranian nuclear scientists not that long ago. No war. Stop listening to the media. Not going to be a war. Iran has no ability to fight a war. Just small terror attacks which they were going to do regardless if we take this guy out or not.

6) Warhawks need something to masturbate over.

And fools and cowards remain in their graves.

On that note, I’m sure you’ve already been to see a recruiter, yes?

As fun as it may be to play armchair general, maybe let the informed professionals handle this one.

Unless you are planning on being a TrueAmerican, and heading over to fight.

Well, what is done is done.
If we outright attack Iran now, then there will be a war, no doubt about it.
If we wait and stay on guard then perhaps a war can be avoided.
I have no doubt they will hit us.
It is a tough call.

But war means unavoidable American deaths.

Best to wait and see what they do.(but be ready)
They cannot take out our entire military,
but certainly can give us a black eye in exchange for the bloody lip we just gave them.

But that is just my thoughts, and I am tired of war.

you really want this war, eh? If I was a betting man I would say more will certainly die in a war vs the possible actions that result from Iran, a nation that's always slewing crap out the mouth

I dont believe anyone wants war with Iran, but sometimes, a good defense is a strong offense. Now, we know they want strong retaliation, so why wait for that strike to happen first?

Because the US war machine would lose the full support of both the domestic and international community if they were to strike now, without retaliation.

I wouldn't worry much though, Iran has to strike back somehow, one way or another... They would just look weak as piss if they didn't, both to there own citizens and the rest of the world.

I'm sure the US military industrial complex are well aware of this and are locked and loaded and almost in a frenzy right about now, like a shark that just caught the scent of blood in the water.

Lets just hope Iran doesn't do anything irrational, which would give them a valid excuse.

At this point, I think both sides (militarily) are looking at a Mexican Stand-Off, waiting for the other to flinch. It likely will never happen on Iran's part, but the US tends to be very trigger-happy in such stand-offs.

We will flinch first, and the excuse will be as transparent as "Saddam has WMDs!"

Saddam had WMDs until they were moved to on top of our oil in Iran.

1) We now have open, public threats from Iranian Clerical, Presidential and other factions sworn to severe retaliation against the US and its interests.

2) They have raised a red flag for the first time in their history.

3) A vast amount of the Iranian and other populations are DEMANDING this retaliation.

4) The threat is real, with very powerful weapons that in some cases WILL exceed our ability to defend against them, causing almost CERTAINLY hundreds if not thousands of US casualties. This is NOT the Iraq we mowed over in the Gulf war.

5) Physical action has been taken with the fueling of their missile systems.

6) Warhawks need something to masturbate over.

ATS is PornHub for warmongers and the MIC of late.

Yup. Because if you're gonna throw a baby from something everyone knows an incubator is your second best option after a 7 story window.

...and in a just world George W. Bush would have been sent to a war crimes tribunal at the Hauge for starting a war under blatantly false pretenses.

Perhaps it's not too late to put the people on trial who overthrew the Libyan government, and tried to overthrow the Syrian government, for the express purpose of destabilizing the Middle East. John McCain is already dead, but the rest of them are still out there.

OP wants the u.s. to go all-in and hope russia and china don't care that we just started a war with their ally Iran. How does OP know that the situation won't escalate quickly and lead into heavy civilian casualties?

Regarding point number 3. You know this because, I assume, you've actually spoken to all of them? And just exactly how many are a "vast amount"?
