Just because you're drafted doesn't mean you have to fight.

Ok - how about this one? Not everyone who is drafted will even leave the States much less go into hand to hand combat.

Of course all recruits will go through weapons training - and - if the US gets attacked on Her own soil? They'll be glad of it!

As for me? This goes much farther and I'll enlist - if I can get them to take me.

If Democrats are elected to run the government, there will be a drafting of citizens to the new "Disarmament" branch of service. They will be trained to go door-to-door, confiscating all guns.

I don't agree, I am 42 years old with 1 year old twins, a 7 year old daughter, and 3 older kids. I don't think we need a draft just yet. I don't see this war going anywhere to the point where people have to be drafted. I don't agree with you on this.

Very Nobel of you and its your right to do what you want to do.

But -

A draft robs the draftees of that very same right, does it not - just accept alot of people just won't kill. It doesn't sit right with them.

Desmond Doss - Hacksaw Ridge movie, this is how the people forced to enlist who won't kill are treated.

And fair enough not all draftees will leave the states but lets be clear the vast majority certainly will.

LMAO, isn't it hilarious how equality drumbeats, specifically feminism ones, go deathly silent when an across the board draft is brought up? Like they're kinda clearly saying, "Erm, we want equality, as in preferential treatment, all the ex's money and property, and the ability to sue our way into jobs, or sue our way into shopping money if someone looks at the boobs I have hanging out of my V-cut shirt, not equality in soldier work!"

As it stands, I'm all for letting people try their damnedest at unchanged equal tests in the military to get where they want/hope to go. I'm not pro-draft, though, there's no honor or respect in winning something with what is effectively unwilling slaves doing the dirty work.

Israel has women in front line service.

They're bullet magnets. When a female soldier is under fire the men all go into big brotherfather figure mode and protect her even if she's in cover and they're out in the open. It's a natural instinct, and the people doing the shooting know it. So they double down.

I have total respect for human rights. So much so, that I don't think it should just be young men that

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

I have noticed the biggest supporters of equality in our societies don't talk about or don't support National Service/Draft. Arguably, one of the greatest sources of inequality in the postwar period is the outsourcing of warfighting to less than 25% of Australia and New Zealand populations. I don't view this as a stand-alone argument for the return of National Service.

Do arguments exist for the return of voluntary National Service in Australia and New Zealand?
In Australia firefighting (combating bushfires and the effects of Climate change, adjusting the military to meet Australia's declining strategic outlook are reasons advanced by John Blaxland ).

In New Zealand: I support the introduction of voluntary National Service to rebuild the New Zealand Defence Force's drained personnel numbers. This leaves the question of people who are not medically eligible or unsuited for military service. Opportunities to serve in a Kiwi version of the PeaceCorps ensures inequalities in National Service are smoothed out.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

The upside would be they would have to have some firearm safety training (do not look into the barrel while pulling the trigger mechanism to check if loaded)..The Democrats of old could/would fight in an international war; those in this day and age fight and win wars domestically through crippling and impoverishing people with hopelessness. Its insidious. Its a forced enslavement to a failed idea (socialism).

remember how, not long ago, there was a whole furor about how trans people shouldn't be allowed in the military? all sorts of boneheaded allegations about the quality and ability of lgbt people everywhere, all "the only perverts in the military should be hetersexual ones!" all over the place

how quickly the tune changes the moment there's some uncertainty and risk!
now it's suddenly about what those utter ingrates who dare ask for equal treatment can do for you and how you can turn people you hate into shields to hide behind.

People panicking over a draft. We are nowhere near the point of that occurring. As for it I agree should be everyone. Feel free to draft me, they will not take me though. They turned me down due to lack of taping out when I was 18. No way I am taping out now that I am 40 lol.
