America didn't learn from the Russians.....have you forgotten how many years Russia spent trying to take Afghanistan?

Probably because they were fighting an enemy armed and trained by the USA.

I would agree if we were dealing with Normal but we are not.

Thus the reason walking softly will not work, and the need to use the big stick.

Love that Teddy quote.

Their response has limited variations...this is conventional...so far.

With a Global audience....an attempted strike back at an American General would be considered fighting words....while a strike back at Civilians would guarantee a Regime change.

From a purely Leadership perspective a high ranking General made a poor decision and was remediated because of it....this should be considered a near miss and treated as such....with no response beyond a plea for World Support in demanding accountability.

Why let yourself be made an example of by a real true strong America prepared to defend Herself properly.

There will never be boots on the ground.

Donald Trump doesn't see himself as a liberator. He has no desire or the fortitude for regime change. He could care less about the everyday Iranian and what ever kind of squaler they live in after he bombs them.

He will bomb them and walk away; when they retaliate he will bomb them again.

The quagmire in Iraq was the result of the US leadership deluding themselves into thinking that they could conduct a "compassionate war" that they could escape criticism if they acted like they cared about the Iraq people.

Donald Trump doesn't suffer from these delusions; he suffers from a lot of things; he could be miscalculating and over plating his hand. But he is not going to enter an Iraq style war in Iran; he simply doesn't care enough to do that.

If Trump is doing this because of some Americans killed by Iran then why didn't he attack N. Korea when they imprisoned and killed Otto Warmbier?
It seems to me that there are other more secret reasons for this sudden move on Iran.

If you're going after someone for revenge, remember to dig two graves.

Because they probably had a friend.

Probably best if everyone stopped targeting things, step back and let cooler heads prevail, to be honest.

Anything to drive up oil prices and sell some more toys to the boys really.

It will all end in tears, and the wrong peoples tears at that.

Yesterday, the mainstream media was criticizing the Trump Administration for not being prepared for retaliation from Iran.

Tonight, they are calling President Trump a provocateur for broadcasting the administration's plans to deal with any Iranian retaliation.

Iran has for many years, and continues to, commit atrocities against Americans.
