Australias climate has changed and it is from Total mismanagement of the environment. Not just back burning.

It certainly is shifting that is for sure. Since starting this thread, fires have ravaged parts of my own state yet again, more lives have been lost, I fear more will be known as the day goes on. Kangaroo Island has been significantly burned.

Yes Australia gets fires, but this year has been something else. Perth is currently cut off from Adelaide by road due to fire, possibly for up to 5 days. Road trains full of produce from the Eastern States for Perth are sitting, waiting, too expensive in fuel to be worth turning back. Supplies at the road house are running out. Fires will today, no doubt, devastate New South Wales and Victoria again. 12.5 million acres is said to have burned so far this season, well that was as of last week sometime.

These fires are unprecedented. Australia has seen fires but nothing of this magnitude and our Prime Minister, aided by the Murdoch press, continues to talk it down, "nothing to see here, this is normal" or, "Its the Greenies fault" (despite the fact the "greenies" have never held power to legislate, or the fact that back burning and fuel reduction is occurring at rates higher than in the past although this year foiled by early onset of fire weather conditions)

BULL*%^

This is a disaster of truely historic proportions for Australia, and the world.

As far as the Climate Change issue is concerned. On this site, I probably shouldn't have mentioned that word, as it would inevitably lead to the derailment of the thread, but hey, its a fact, Climate Change is fuelling the SEVERITY and EARLY ONSET of these fires. The Prime Minister does not want to talk about that aspect of it. It is fuelling intense anger towards him in this country.

I believe the weight of the science, it is overwhelming. I trust the peer review system, especially when it is so unanimous and on such a large scale. Quite simply, I have largely stopped trying to reason with those who refuse to believe the science on climate change. I view them in the same light as Flat Earthers, or maybe even worse, because at least Flat Earthers are not harming anyone in their delusions. I suspect a lot of the denial is a fear response. That makes it a bit more understandable.

your post i was responding to literally blamed "greenies" you gigantic muppet!
do you lot have no object permanence or something?
is that why you'll throw in with whichever insanely corrupt bureaucrat promises business as usual?

how about we just skip the whole part where you pretend you were talking about something else that ~just happened~ to precisely echo the most popular right wing conspiraboomer take? i'm sure it feels galaxy brain to you but trust me we're better off without it.

Large parts of New South Wales have been in the grip of catastrophic fire weather this week as firefighters desperately work to save homes, properties and lives.

But as firefighters try and beat back the bushfires, a familiar blame game began with critics pointing fingers at “greenies”, claiming they get in the way of hazard reduction efforts that might have reduced the size and scale of the disaster.

“These are very tired and very old conspiracy theories that get a run after most major fires,” says Prof Ross Bradstock, the director of the centre for environmental risk management of bushfires at the University of Wollongong, who has been researching bushfires for 40 years.

“They’ve been extensively dealt with in many inquiries.”

Is there a drop in hazard reduction?
A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has told Guardian Australia that the National Parks and Wildlife Service carried out hazard reduction activities across more than 139,000ha in 2018 and 2019.

The NPWS had a hazard reduction target to treat 680,000ha of parks and reserves in the five years from 2011, which the spokesperson said it had exceeded.

The spokesperson added: “Hazard reduction is just one way of preparing for bushfires – it doesn’t remove the threat of fire.”

Bradstock says: “In New South Wales, hazard reduction work is governed by policies that are set by coordinating committee chaired by the Rural Fire Service. They bring together all players – with representatives from farmers, environment groups and governments.

“Hazard reduction work has increased because of increased funding to the RFS and to national parks. There has been more carried out in recent years than in previous decades.”

These fires are even crowning through areas that have already been cold burned. In South Australia, as seen in Kangaroo Island, they are ripping across cleared farmland at incredible speed.

It's the heat and the dry that is causing it to be so severe. Just look at how much of this country is burning. Massive fires in the remote area between WA and SA cutting Perth off by road from Adelaide.

Um no...

To pretty much all of that (as a single contributing factor)..!!

Hot and dry weather certainly don't help and it is during these times that fires tend to get a leg up and spread quickly, but weather is just a part of the equation.

We have had severe summers in the past and fires in conjunction that didn't go down like this. There are many factors that come into play between those previous fire seasons and the current one.

If you actually knew anything about fire ecology, you'd quickly realize how uninformed (or rather incomplete), your comments actually are.

Most of those articles above are about the RSF and NPWS in NSW.. They have a lot more resources at their disposal during the off season and a lot more funding. Victoria hasn't fared as well in recent years in those aspects (not to the levels that they would like anyway).

That said, burning and manual fuel reduction in certain regions are not the be all and end all, but are aimed at improving the dice roll in our favor each summer.

Sometimes we get a bad roll...!!

what on earth are you trying to show me in that post? some guy had a dream and a bit of a disjointed rant about his neighbours reacting to him burning off?
damn well i guess all these other people talking sensibly about the facts of the matter can't possibly be right because some guy on a conspiracy board had a dream

honestly i was expecting it to be the old "the government caused the fires intentionally to clear the way for a new highway" conspiraboomer nonsense and look to be frank with you i think you'd have more luck trying to float that.

old mate harold223 has given you a real good resource in that guardian article, any chance you could give that a peruse before you come back with more anonymous conspiracy board posts?
