Yep, and you can't even have a rational discussion with any of the ones wrapped up in it because they are neck deep emotionally invested in it.

We were talking with my old college pal whose daughter is that generation, and that subject of the LGBT+Whatever Other Letters crowd came, specifically trans. It's a subject near and dear to me as a former high level athlete and woman who now sees these female impersonators coming into my arena and taking genuine competitive opportunities from actual women. I just started to say that no matter what you do to yourself you are always biologically female or male -- that won't change -- as my friend is a highly educated microbiologist and understand perfectly what I'm on about and *her daughter* got immediately defensive.

"Don't you say anything about my friends!"

As though I knew a thing about her friends, their orientations or identities or cared one way or the other ...

I was having a more or less dry discussion with her mother on an intellectual level about an issue that concerned me, but it was intellectually morphed into a personal attack on people I knew nothing at all about.

That's why no one can have a rational discussion about any of it, and that's how this generation has been taught to think of it.

Tried to have a conversation with my Brother about some concerns about my nephew, and it did not go over too well. The immediate defense response makes it impossible to deal with any problem, when feelings of guilt, misplaced loyalty, and the desire to defend is greater than the problem at hand.

I hadn't and wasn't even going to say anything negative about transgenderism itself, only about the idea that it was fair to allow them to compete like that because I don't think it's fair.

Whatever my personal feelings about transgenderism, people are free to do to themselves what they feel they must to be happy in life. It's not my place to stop them.

Everything you said was pandering to fear and silly buzz words and associations that have no actual associations. This is nothing new, it was happening in the 20s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc etc. It still happens today. Old people hate change and blame the youth for all problems.
