Crazyeed - its the US presemce on the world stage that protects US interests. Is it all "Justice" and Utopia? Heck no, but its better than China or Russia taking control of the world. Maybe not for them, but for the US, Europe, other parts of Asia...If we're not careful, South & Central America will fall under China's influence to a large degree.

There's downsides, certainly. There's great benefit to corporations who profit unfairly from our tax dollars, but the costs - as padded as they are with linings for connected folks who get to decide how much of our money filters into their own pockets, we (the US and most of the "Western World") are MUCH better off with our presence.

And "our" defense spending, to this day, helps to emsure that we stay not "a" step ahead of Russia and China, but several steps ahead. When we think about the kinds of things we were building in the 60's, I believe you can safely assume today's "new" military tech is likely decades old, and the true, "in the back pocket", most advanced military tech is decades ahead of what we think it is.

I would love to see the military spending less, and building a leaner, more capable force. But we've screwed our current forces into the ground so badly with our ops tempo the last almost 20 years that our existing force needs help, badly.

How about the FACT that Trump just reached another spending milestone? He has now spent 296 times the amount of his "donated" salary, on himself! His golf cart rentals just reached a whooping half million dollars! thegolfnewsnet.com...

Republican senator Rand Paul unveils annual Festivus list of wasteful government spending

Sen. Rand Paul dropped his Festivus Report 2019, which detailed $50,463,462,292.35 in government spending he was aggrieved about
Paul celebrates Festivus, the December 23 holiday made popular in the 1990s by the sitcom 'Seinfeld'
In this year's report he knocked the government for spending $500,000 on a self-cleaning toilet at a D.C.-area Metro station
He pointed to a $22 million effort to get Serbian cheese up to international standards, while the U.S. is experiencing a historic cheese surplus
And he knocked NIH studies, including one that looked into whether there was a link between drinking alcohol and going to the emergency room

That is from here:
www.dailymail.co.uk...

The actual report is here:
www.scribd.com...

And reading through it is infuriating.

Now look, I don't care which side of the isle you are on. But THIS???

It's gotta stop. THE END.

Let's just pretend for a moment that Trump really put his foot down and tackled our governments wasteful spending. He would first have to draw attention to it by throwing names out which would include both Democrats and Republicans. That would be an amazing thing to see and a true example of leadership we'd all love to witness.

Here's the problem. The man was just impeached by the house on hearsay and speculation. We're talking about being charged for crimes with not even an iota of evidence. The Senate will be the only reason he isn't removed from office. Had he taken on the waste, would he still have the support of the same Senate Republicans he would've implicated?

Truth is, there is no one man or woman that can hold the Presidency and fight off two corrupt parties at the same time. Any attempt to do so would lead to another baseless impeachment but would result in the successful removal of the President to keep the dirty money flowing into the pockets of these self-interest serving representatives infesting both sides of the isle.

This task is the one you perform in the last year of your administration, not at the beginning or the middle. In your last year who is going to bother trying to get you out when they already know you are leaving? The trick is to make sure the incoming POTUS will clear you of whatever you are charged with by the people who get caught making nasty with taxpayer money.

More proof of how little members of Congress care about Americans. Do the creatures who waste our money like this consider all the families struggling paycheck-to-paycheck to pay for their mortgage and auto loans, put food on the table, clothe their kids, cover dental and medical expenses, occasionally go on vacation or to a restaurant, pay their taxes, put something aside for their kids’ college funds and maybe a little for retirement? And don’t get me started on what we spend on both illegal and legal immigrants and foreign aid. It makes me sick to think about it. Meanwhile, we’re running trillion dollar-deficits and leaving future generations with a mountain of debt.

Talk about insane debt, what about the student loan scam? I think more lives have been affected by that than 500k dollar toilets and pretty much anything else on the planet when it comes to debt.
