The Su-27 has round exhaust and is roughly 9 feet longer. So would appear similar in size, not 50% larger.

I trust the observer, my comments didn't mean to imply the OP was lying or pretending they saw something.

Oh I've just realised.. my first reply I've said I WAS calling the OP a liar .. I genuinely meant to type 'I'm NOT calling the OP a liar' my apologies at my mistake

No worries especially after seeing your later comments :-)

I've done a basic sketch of what I saw but it does not want to load to myATS!! If anyone wants it I can email if you PM me an email address.

Nothing else really to add apart from the jets were heading straight in line with an approach to Mildenhall's runway 1-1 so they may have been on route to there and not Lakenheath.

It has to be either jpg, not jpeg, or png and below 2 MB to upload.

No I haven't yet, I can and will later, the closest existing (old) plane I can think it looked like was similar to the old Saab Draken. When I first saw it, it was slightly past overhead travelling away from me, I was so fixated by the glowing exhausts.

I'm not saying for one minute this was the plane I saw but the shape was very similar.

I'd be shocked if that was it. Especially if it went to either Mildenhall or Lakenheath. Any kind of black project or demonstrator goes to somewhere as remote as possible. Both of those bases have a lot of traffic around them and a lot of visibility.

Maybe it was just "passing" through and on route to meeting a tanker!! Does Mildenhall still hold JP-2!!

Although that said I think the JP-2 was always roared in as it could not be put through normal pipes!!

Don't you think it could be something going grey more than black ? it would explain why they less don't care to be seen.

Off topic a little maybe, are the air force still operating the KC135Q's?

No one uses JP-2 anymore. If he was meeting a tanker he wouldn't have been that low.
