Declaration of Expulsion
Due to the outcome of current events, it has become absolutely necessary for the good of the people to resolve the bonds that have held them captive
to others, and to call for the powers between Heaven and Earth to grant them equal station to which they are entitled, with respect for all of mankind
we shall declare the causes which have driven us to this separation.
It has always been self evident that that we are created equal, that our Rights are inalienable, that our Rights are not limited to only to Life,
Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, but cover a multitude of Rights borne and inherent by virtue of birth. That in order to help secure these
rights, Governments are granted power to provide justice by consent of those to be governed. But in the event that government becomes self serving to
a detriment of the People, the People have the right to alter it or abolish it completely and raise a new government to better serve the people. Never
should such an occurrence come lightly as no matter how carefully laid out, there will always be those that act against the common interests. And
People by their nature can withstand minor evils against them. But when a long train of abuses, usurpations of power, abandonment of duties and
whimsical dalliances enters into Despotism and outright Tyranny; that government can no longer stand and it falls to the People to correct the
situation. It is for the following that the People commit to alter the United States of America for the betterment of all.
They have refused their Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
They have forbidden to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till their Assent should be obtained; and
when so suspended, they have utterly neglected to attend to them.
They have failed to pass other Laws for the accommodation of such a large district of people, because those people would relinquish the Power held in
the Legislature, a power inestimable granted to them and then conferred to tyrants only.
They have called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole
purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with their measures.
They have dissolved Representation in the Houses repeatedly, for opposing with subverting firmness their invasions on the rights of the people.
They have refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; by the subversion of State and Local Legislative powers,
incapable of Annihilation and being returned to the People at large for their exercise; an inequitable practice of Jungle Elections to squash opposing
They have endeavored to prevent the population of these United States lawful enforcement of the Laws of Naturalization; for the purpose obstructing
the safety of the People, refusing to pass other Laws to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Policing of the
They have obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing separation of Executive and Judiciary powers from
that of the Legislature.
They have made Judges dependent on their Will alone, for the tenure of their offices.
They have erected a multitude of Unelected Officers, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
They have affected to render the militance independent of and superior to the Civil power:
They have conspired with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving Assent to their
Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Infractions which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our equal Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing fuel Taxes on us without our Consent:
For denying Equal Protection from their laws:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by
repeated injury. A Prince of State whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the de facto ruler of a free
We the People of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our
intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these States, solemnly publish and declare, That these United States are, and of
Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to California, and that all political connection between
them and the US, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, We have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace,
contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this
Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred
Honor that California is Expelled.
