There is absolutely zero chance of removal.

I have said as much.

What crimes are involved?

Abuse of power, obstruction of Congress. Who knows what else, since he obstructs Congress from their Constitutional right.

The president never claimed to be above accountability, or above the law.
Seriously show me when the president claimed to be "above accountability". ...those are your words.

Those are my words, but...umm, The Constitution says "I can do whatever I want."

What was his abuse of power? How did he obstruct Congress?

Read previous replies.

ETA: How the hell is this whole process not an abuse of power by the Democrats!?

Um, the Constitution.

Um... Fail.

Congress people couldn't do it. You can't do it. Where is the crime? Where is the crime? Where is the crime? Where is the crime? Where is the crime?

Idiots. It's a sham. America sees it. Idiots. All of you.

Does the Constitution not say the president can be impeached? By the House? Sole power?

Congress people couldn't do it.

They did it. Today.

To what end?

Historical record.

The Constitution.

Ok. Historical record. Nothing will happen. Dems will lose more support. And Trump will be next to clintons bj. Thanks for wasting my damn money.

I said he (likely) won't be removed. But the historical record is more valuable than money. So is the Constitution.

That's what most do not get.

Tell African Americans, or homosexuals that the "historical record" is most important. I support the Constitution. I don't support removing a president because "muh feelings". What was that crime again? Still not hearing an answer about that pivotal question ..

I already answered. In this reply

But I am sure that Homosexuals will praise trump for his persistence that they be discriminated against in both the workplace and potential adoptions. Talk about standing up for Americans. But only if they're hetero? #Winning.

Be concise.

WHERE IS THE CRIME!?

Saying "obstruction" doesn't answer the question.

WHAT DID HE DO?

Because the FBI, and Congress sure as hell don't have an answer. I'm sure you do though. Enlighten us, please.

If my style was to light mini fires everywhere it would still make me an arsonist. Witness intimidation, unanswered/obstructed subpoenas, censuring of testimony were all forms of obstruction. The only thing Trump was protecting against was self incrimination which is something he has also already done openly.

Again it is his right to plea the fifth in any questions or subpoenas , it is the right of his counsel nay it is the duty of his counsel to delay proceedings until all of the facts to support the allegations against him are presented.

No facts have been presented , no whistle blower, no real eye witness testimony or hard evidence of any kind has been given . Only hear say , only speculation and at best a weak circumstantial case can be made , you are innocent until proven guilty end of story. They cant simply say he abused his executive power, they must prove it .

Hilary Clinton sat in front of a senate commity for 2 days and lied about Benghazi , said she could not recall. What could they do ?? nothing.

The simple answer is they have no choice. Look at the options they have.

One they could admit they were wrong and lose support and watch the party implode as their base demands Pelosis head. Or they could continue on and keep most of their members in congress yes they will lose seats but not near the number if they didnt impeach.

This falls back to Nancy and her miscalculation thinking that the president would be unwilling to release the transcript from the call. They thought they would be able to tell the American people their version of the call. Had Trump not released it this would have gone far differently.

As it is now they may lose the house its very likely however if they retain their base people have a short memory and they can regain it at the mid terms.

Is It Political Suicide ?

Totally. I tried watching some of the impeachment discussion but only managed about 5 minutes. It was like watching people sitting around getting high on smelling their own farts.

So what crime do we have? Trump telling Shiff to get bent when Trump was unable to bring any witness or ask any questions as his own trial. Hmm, I am going with Trump on this one.

The only work I see the Democrats doing is stonewalling the Republicans. Justice delayed is justice denied. So what is the plan now? Wait until after the next election before taking this impeachment to trial. Raise that flag 'We impeached him' proud and high in the election run up, continue with the lies and continue to pay out the fake news to push it.

Yeah there is a big news cycle now going 'Yay!'. A week can be a long time in politics and still a long way to go until the next election. I hope the senate does pick up an open and thorough trial into all this before engaging the wheels of government.

It is clear that the swamp monsters are using the tactic of attack for their defense. Tie up resources and project the issues on your opponent. Most people are too busy just surviving to get into all the political details, just trust the talking heads on their tv. This has worked for many years.

Now with the rise of social media it is getting harder for the ministry of truth to establish its dominion. Thanks heaps to the team at ATS for a place to thrash out the details. I don't know where all this impeachment mess will end up, political suicide is a good bet.

What I can't seem to wrap my head around is this, why would so many Democrats be so willing to follow one another off the cliff to political suicide? These are career politicians we are talking about here , who when you sweep aside all the bull all they care about is re-election.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

They are following Soviet Communism type conformity with their political party. They are likely committing political suicide on a geographical basis. Swing voters in Rust Belt states are the source of political backlash against Trump. These voters may ensure Trump is re-elected. The suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome in New York and California will reward impeachment by backing its supporters.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

I'm looking at this as objectively as I can, When you truely weigh the impeachable evidence it does not tip torwards the President being impeached , they are basically trying to Impeach the President based on speculation . Here we have junior dems and senior dems all sitting on there hands for three almost four years now whining about the President , all the while not passing laws, not improving there districts not doing there jobs. What in Gods name are they going to run on when it comes time for re-election ?

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Trump's insane detractors have put the impeachment horse before the cart. At best they are looking for constitutional violations or high crimes after the starting impeachment proceedings. And at worst they are fabricating their motivations for impeachment.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

And when this impeachment fails and it will , all that will have been accomplished is the fueling of support behind Donald Trumps 2020 campaign. Can the Democrats not see even a little ways down the road? The least they could do is support the Presidents economic reforms and then they could stand on that come time for re-election .

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

A sane political opposition holds a sitting president or government to account. Trump's detractors have failed to hold him to account for not getting an infrastructure package through congress. Nor did they hold Trump and the GOP for lackluster tax reforms. Tax reforms and tax cuts are not one in the same thing, but that is a discussion for another day.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Very simple, actually.

They feel that they will ultimately be on the right side of history, in the long run, by standing up for democracy and the Constitution, rather than their Republican counterparts who seem to care more about maintaining power and putting their party over country in support of Trump at all costs, which is a reason so many are so spineless to oppose the Trumpublican Party.

That is why they are risking "political "suicide" as you call it, because they claim to care more about country and its founding principles than their own re-election—yet they ultimately hope they will get through to the people in order to be reelected, *because* they put country over party.

Simple.

A country has sovereign borders (occupies a specific territory) , a common language and culture, and it provides for the common good of its citizens before all others. Do the dems value any of these things in 2019? Personally I don't believe they do.

Not so simple really!
The democrats thought they would be well on their way to their idea of progressive (socialist) heaven by now. They thought that after 8 years of Obama and then 8 years of Hillary this country would be so far down the socialist path that there could be no turning back. However, something happened to their dream of Nirvana!!
What happened is a man named Donald Trump and the 63 million people who voted for and elected him President of the US.
They hate him for getting in their way and they also hate the voters who pulled the lever for him.
Now that is how simple it really is!!
