United States v. Nixon, 418 U.S. 683 (1974)

Presidents cant use Executive privilege just to hide information.

Read slowly: Only the judicial department can determine if it legitimately falls under executive privilege or is simply hiding information for personal gain.

I thought the point was obvious. The Dem controlled House is actually passing bills. The GOP controlled Senate is doing nothing.

So why are the Dems being perceived as doing nothing?

Given that the House has the power to impeach as well as declare treason, it would be up to them to say impeach. Except removal is in the hands of the Senate for those impeached and the House is more than capable of convicting and removing their own...so it would never need to be an actual impeachment. But the Senate also has the power to police and remove their own, so a Senator could not be impeached without the House acquiring a power not enumerated.

So, long story short. House *could* impeach their own, but doesn’t have any need to do so. House cannot impeach a Senator without full cooperation of the Senate as any Senator could go to the Supremes to strike it down. President can adjourn the House and/or Senate. Or order troops to take control, but that kinda opens that “Abuse of Power” box for the house. The argument could easily be that there is not supposed to be a standing Army in times of peace for the President to have power over...so that’s what you get for just leaving it around to be used like guns outside of safes.

The house can pass a million bills; if they can't compromise with the Senate and President and pass bills that all can agree on than they are simply participating in a time waitsing circle jerk.

To me that is the definition of "doing nothing".

Ps. That truth doesn't speak any kinder to the Senate or the President.

But they can use Executive Privilege for other things, it's up to the courts to decide, not the House.

I'm not a lawyer, and I seriously doubt you are one as well.

But Alan Deshowitz is and a damned fine one.

HE SAYS that this article of impeachment is bunk.

Now obviously YOU know more than a lawyer with decades of experience, so go ahead and refute it if you can.

Judiciary report Pages 78-138, covers the abuse of power charge which includes bribery.

Judiciary report

Dood, you should have helped the idiot dems with their impeachment hearings. They couldn't get any factual witnesses other than Vindman, who acknowledged that the transcript Trump released was accurate, and Sonland who's only first hand information was that Trump wanted NOTHING from Zalinsky.

Had you been there, you could have showed the world how horrible Trump is for killing all those babies.

So because Trump is withholding all additional witnesses and evidence we just pretend he did nothing?

No President has EVER just flat out said "congress gets nothing", full stop. Thus the second article of impeachment.

That's why you use the 3rd branch of government, the Judicial System.

Democrats didn't, that article of impeachment is null and void.

And the Judicial already made a ruling in the Nixon impeachment. The president cant withhold information.

Different case, different rulings.

Executive Privilege is not something that the House can determine.

Yet the Supreme Court already ruled that Executive Privilege can not be used as Trump is now.

Actually, it is the exact opposite. You really need to watch something other than what you are watching.

That was allowed because Fast and Furious was the follow up to Operation Gunwalker. Which was funded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. You know, those shovel ready jobs that had a $500 green sign erected before filling in a pothole proclaiming how great Obama was?

Every single democrat is parroting the same snip.

It makes me want to punch my screen.

Why did I even bother even trying to watch this crap?

Rhetorical question.

For the same reason the Republicans were perceived as doing nothing when the Democrat Senate did this same thing?
