If I hear "Last Christmas I gave you my heart" or "Here comes Santa Clause" one more time, I think I'll puke. There just aren't that many good secular Christmas "non PC offensive" songs out there. As a result, every department store, every "holiday channel" on the radio plays the same old crap over and over and over and over.

The PC left calls Christmas "non-inclusive" and demanded an end to any of the traditional beautiful songs, of which there are MANY, in any and all public venues. Now the radio stations have joined in to not offend the PC crowd.

All we are getting is Jingle bells, and the songs above over and over and over and over and over

Why?
This article tells it all: pjmedia.com...

There is a mind-blowing chutzpah or lack of self-awareness when people do something and yet deny that they are actually doing it. But the evidence is overwhelming. The left has stopped schools from calling Christmas vacations by that name -- the name schools called them throughout American history until the last couple of decades. Almost every non-Christian school in America now calls Christmas vacation "winter break."

Fewer and fewer Americans, stores, companies or media wish people "merry Christmas," preferring the neutered "happy holidays" (despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of Americans celebrate Christmas).

And in but one generation, virtually every American business has gone from having a "Christmas party" to having a "holiday party." Having written in the past about the falsehood of "merry Christmas," "Christmas vacation" and "Christmas party" not being "inclusive," I will not reiterate the point here.

Suffice it to say that it takes a breathtaking level of narcissism for a non-Christian to be offended by mentions of Christmas and a breathtaking level of meanness to seek to deprive the vast majority of fellow Americans of the public mention of their holiday.

Rather, I want to try to explain why this has happened. The "inclusive" argument is so absurd -- I am a religious Jew and cannot even fathom being offended or feeling "not included" by an invitation to a Christmas party -- that there have to be other, or at least additional, reasons for the left's neutering of Christmas. There are.

One is that the left sees in Christianity its primary ideological and political enemy. And it is right to do so. The only large-scale organized opposition to the left comes from the traditional Christian community -- evangelical Protestants, traditional Catholics and faithful Mormons -- and Orthodox Jews. Leftism is a secular religion, and it deems all other religions immoral and false.

The left understands that the more people believe in Christianity (and Judaism), the less chance the left has to gain power. The left doesn't concern itself with Islam, because it perceives Islam as an ally in its war against Western civilization, and because leftists do not have the courage to confront Islam. They know that confronting religious Muslims can be fatal, whereas confronting religious Christians entails no risks.

Thanks progressive-leftists for making it so I now can't turn on the radio to listen to "holiday music" anymore unless I go to a Christian station who will play the old lovely traditional carols that people used to sing to each other for hundreds of years.

I imagine Christmas caroling has ended because of the PC progressive/liberal insistence that the old traditional Christmas music is offensive and non-inclusive.

I really don't want a group of people singing in public, or the malls, "last Christmas I gave you my heart" or "here comes Santa Claus" those songs are repeated so much in public they have become nasty earwigs that won't go away. Why, because the multiple versions of traditional Christmas songs have been PC banned in public, even just instrumental versions aren't heard anymore.

I have actually been encouraging Christians to stop the commercialism as a result. My husband and I have cut way way way back on commercial Christmas because it simply enriches the elite class and there is no real or substantial reason for the holiday at all anymore since the PC banned any Christian or religious meaning to be attached to it.

And yes I know it was originally Saturanlia, it would be more appropriate for the official named to be changed back, because as far as the US public can see there is no religious significance. So be honest and least and insist the name be changed to Saturnalia.

Oops, my bad Saturanlia is a religious holiday of the druids.

So let's be real and call it Santa Day, or "Break the bank day and give your money to the elite rich day." or "put the stores in the black day" or "gift giving day".

Thanks pc progressive liberals for bringing back Scrooge, bah humbug, Christmas. There is no reason for the day except to party and run up your credit cards to give mandatory gifts.

Then I guess they should also change the name from Christmas to The Great Credit Card Festival. Destroy the tradition to its very last bits. /sarcasm

I agree, all the beautiful old songs are being forgotten.

Capitalism has ruined Christmas music.

Some places start playing it after Halloween, and honestly, I believe it's to drive up sales. Get consumers thinking it's time to start buying gifts.

Christmas music should be for Christmas parties.... Hearing it for over a month on the radio, in establishments, and at parties is just far too much for many (me, it's far too much for me, and I'm being selfish).

From my perspective, if you don't like "Christmas" ("Christ" is built right into the name, BTW) then don't celebrate it! It's really that simple. It's no different than Hanukka; if you don't like it then don't celebrate it.

Create your own damn holiday ya #$@%in' whiners! Call it "PC Festivus", or "Dillweed Day", or "Douchebag Day", I don't care, but quit screwing around with Christmas!!!

But the thread is about the music, not necessarily if someone likes the holiday or not. I like the decorations, the overall mood lift that comes with it in the cold of winter (which helps).... But any kind of repetitive music can be classified as torture by the Geneva convention (I probably just lied).

Also, I'd say it's far more different than most other holidays if we're being fair. I'm coming up short thinking of another one that gets attention for over a month in this scope.

Oh hey, hi there billie....
First, let me wish you the happiest of holidays this season.
May all your christmas wishes come true and may the magic of the season bring you joy.
but in the meantime... anything else you want to dump on my progressive shoulders this christmas?

Sorry I just dont see how progressives have ruined your christmas with songs you dont like.
People write new songs for christmas every year.
I think if all we had to listen to was Oh little town of Bethlehem, or Away in a Manger people would get bored which is probably why they keep writing new christmas songs.

You are getting coal in your stocking this year. You've been a bad girl.

Change the radio station you listen to.
God you guys act like you have no choices but it really sounds like y'all want to control what everybody else listens to.

I love that song Last Christmas.
I love Merry Christmas Darling from Karen Carpenter

I look forward every year to all these songs.

Y'all sound like a bunch of party poopers to me.

OP is right
we have the radio on at work (sometimes) and its nonstop Sleigh Ride / Jingle Bells / Santa Baby etc etc

even the Grinch

no Silent Night or Away in a Manger etc

even some of the 'Christian' radio stations are doing that

I make my own mix CDs

our pop culture is dominated by people who hate Christianity and would like to erase every trace of.

So....

I'm not Christian but I celebrate Christmas. It's a nice holiday, and it's just as much part of western culture as it is part of a religion. I also respect the religious elements and understand its importance as I was raised Christian.

I've also dated a Jewish girl and done some Hanukkah celebrations with her family.

I wouldn't disclude myself from a wedding just because someone I care about does it under another belief structure. You can observe a holiday without being part of that belief.

All that said.... Music for over a month is torture.

I don't want or need anyone else's cooperation or contribution to celebrate my faith. The good Lord and Mother Nature made it possible for me to do so all by my lonesome.

May Heaven help me when I cannot find it in my heart to share the love and good will for ALL that Jesus commanded of me, especially at Christmas. What better way to celebrate the birth of Jesus than to spread joy among the beloved children of God as we all celebrate our own holidays?

There are plenty of options for listening to Christmas music -- or not -- depending upon one's druthers. I do not expect anyone to cater to me and my druthers. I cater to my own.
