As for resurrection of abandoned ideas. I did a character sketch assignment in a creative writing class long ago in college. The assignment was to interview a person by asking 3-5 goofy personality questions from a list of 10 or 20. And then create a character based on the vibe you had from the questions.
No one understood the assignment and wrote short stories of 4-5 pages often taking 20 minutes or so to read in class, usually incorporating the questions and answers. I walk up with what looked like a page and a half, which I showed was a half a page of the questions and answers and maybe a third of a page consisting of two paragraphs for the character. None of the questions nor answers were in there and I spent far more time answering classroom questions than I did reading. Including the professor’s request to read it a second time.
That character was reused, just given a name, turned evil and reduced in age to a child for a Halloween Writing Contest years ago. It was actually how I picked up my Writer’s status on ATS. I would say about ten years after that assignment.
