The goverment is already doing a bang up job of dividing the people, while people are at war with each other the goverment will come and take your weapons ,you can bet on it. All they need to do is just keep pushing the buttons and the people will do their bidding for them.

The government only does what we allow government to do.

You don't live in a democracy, it's more like a shamocracy. Thanks for the belly laugh though.

It's a representative republic, infested with authoritarian assholes, currently.

I am sorry you misunderstand so much. We the people do not want war, we want the right to protect ourselves in case someone else starts one.

Yep I agree , however that's a long way from the goverment doing what the people demand , innit.

I am sorry you misunderstand so much. The conversation is about a state governor trying to break the law, federal Constitution, with the states national guard. The local police have realized this is a problem and have acted. In this case national law cannot be broken by state law.

This has probably been already stated here before, but...
Both officers and enlisted service members swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, but in the Oath of Enlistment, service members swear they will “obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over [them], according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Officers do not include this in their Oath of Office.

Instead, they swear to support and defend the constitution and “well and faithfully discharge the duties of [their] office.”

Why are the two oaths different and what does it mean that officers do not swear obedience to the president or higher ranking officers? This concept traces back to the intentions of the Founding Fathers who created our governing system with a separation of powers and series of checks and balances between the three branches. This ensures no single branch or person gains too much power and becomes corrupted. By swearing allegiance to a set of ideals and laws, our military is not bound by the orders of a single person, but are dedicated to the defense of the people and their way of life.

GOD bless the POTUS, our Military, and THE USA!

www.washingtonexaminer.com...

Looks like the President doesn’t give two shets about the sham in the house
He’s having “one of his best weeks yet”
More promises kept

More than anyone who came before him

I think “doing what the people demand” is President Trump’s modus operandi

And the “but I’m gutless so guns scare me.... ban them!” crowd are absolutely gutted about it.

Posting on a thread defending a politician who is breaking the law after three years of screeching “impeach”

Less and less self-dignity by the day

Don’t be mean. He genuinely believes that being a host on a tv show where you’re required to ‘pretend’ to fire people, is “proof” of authoritarianism.

It’s not his fault, it’s the media’s.

I'm getting so tired of people inferring what Trump might mean and ignoring actual facts.

What was it AOC said about facts?

“There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right,”

So it's morally right to take guns, call someone authoritarian, fascist, instead of being actually factual.

Yes. You have been fired and I am asking if I can have your stapler. You know the thing that dispenses the delicious little wire snacks? I don’t have one now.

In case it helps with your decision, I do agree that some people are way overestimating their own moral superiority. Example: AOC
