Oh so that's how we ended up with trump at the helm...

That may seem funny and snarky at first and then we look at the Democrats and even going 15 deep in candidates your comment does seem so funny anymore...lol

The letter said that when grazing land is not required or is unsuitable for horticulture or arable production, it should, where possible, be repurposed by restoring native vegetation such as forest, which acts as a "carbon sink." A carbon sink is anything that absorbs more carbon that it releases, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Can you explain why this is a bad thing ?

Simply because when trees burn they emit all the carbon they stored.

If we go by the tree-hugger's bible (California regulations) then we will grow a lot of trees, not be able to clear them because of the flatulent glowing beetle or something and then more of America will have the same spectacular wildfires California enjoys every year.

It's a long-term disaster.

Are you really trying to argue growing trees is a long term disaster for the environment ?

We're telling you that when you do it the way Cali has with no real forest management practice, you open the door to wildfire disasters.

Its the same here, the natives backburned every winter this way all the fuel burned slowly, the animals could move away and the tree canopies weren't destroyed.

If we ate to build large population centres near potential disaster zones we need to manage the areas competently.

Saying planting trees is bad for the environment is just dumb.

Planting trees is fine, but the forest has to be managed once it exists - removal of deadfall, etc., or else you court wildfire and the forest isn't healthy. Plus, fire is a part of nature. Some trees rely on it to propagate their seeds for example, so the idea that you can prevent all fires from happening is crazy. The most you can do is allow practices to mitigate them once they occur or institute controlled burns to defang the unplanned ones that happen.

Most of these things the same nuts that campaign for planting trees, planting trees will go all crazy over if you then tell them you want to do to prevent wildfire disaster once their precious trees exist.

So they expect us to pay all kinds of new taxes, destroy the world economy, eat a bunch of damn plants. Like the world won't break down into a global civil war when they try to enforce their lunacy.

Never side with those that try to steal your bacon and tell you, You can't eat steak.

It goes against my religion.

Vegans: its bad to eat anything from a animal

Me: so why is there a ecoli warning on your vegetables

As a vegetarian of 25 years, I would accept the challenge to eat any non-toxic vegetable given to me.
Can carnivores claim they would eat any universal "meat"?

Is that maybe because meat is gross?
