People are vegetarians only because they have the money to do so. They pick their eccentric lifestyle only because they can afford it then they then shame everyone else not drinking their flavor of Kool-Aid, but if the crap hit the fan there would be either a lot of dead vegetarians or prior vegetarians. Even in India where the cow is holy only 30% of the population is non-meat eaters.

This.

There are "20 essential amino acids" that the body cannot produce on its own. Your body CAN make these from plants, but as xtero says, you have to be rich.

Most of the world's humans are poor.

beans and corn will make most of the 20 essential. But you have to eat a serving of beans and 4 POUNDS of tortillas to get 'er done.

Vegetarian is an ancient word for bad hunter.

To go along with your strong opinion on the subject, do you also have useful insight as to the environmental costs of industrial farming? It would help your argument if you explained simple concepts and methodology of the study, like how many gallons of water to produce so many pounds of grain feed to make X amount of meat.

Myself, I consider natural areas to be preferred over the scarred earth of mechanized farming / grazing. Take a look at Google Earth and let us know. State after state it's 100s of miles of damaged environment from farming. I suppose you get your meat at WalMart or whatever...?

The letter said that when grazing land is not required or is unsuitable for horticulture or arable production, it should, where possible, be repurposed by restoring native vegetation such as forest, which acts as a "carbon sink." A carbon sink is anything that absorbs more carbon that it releases, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Can you explain why this is a bad thing ?

Simply because when trees burn they emit all the carbon they stored.

If we go by the tree-hugger's bible (California regulations) then we will grow a lot of trees, not be able to clear them because of the flatulent glowing beetle or something and then more of America will have the same spectacular wildfires California enjoys every year.

It's a long-term disaster.

Are you really trying to argue growing trees is a long term disaster for the environment ?

Lol your side really does lack a sense of humor.

That's just your lack of comprehension.

What the hell does it matter if you eat soy? Unless you buy into the fake news that it lowers testosterone.

O jees.. What a terrible world to envision! One where we don't need to torture animals in factory farms and make efforts towards less pollution (riding bikes as you mentioned)...

You anti-vegan ppl are nuts.. You take offense to people suggesting to reduce factory farming (the largest emission sources for livestock).

Dear god... sorry i offended your right to eat cheap tortured animals.

It doesn't matter if our grandchildren have a world to live in as long as he can eat as much meat as he wants😛

Nope. Utter nonsense. Beans, rice, and tofu are all very cheap vegan proteins.

Kool aid? Only kool aid that is being served is the anti-vegan misinformation you blindly accept.

Go to the store, look at prices of staple vegan proteins and compare them to meat.

Why are you spreading misinformation? Rice compliments beans well in amino acids and are amongst the cheapest food in the world.

I'd bet the most expensive food is ethically sourced meat that isn't injected with chemicals or fed a bad diet. Unless you're living on a farm..

4 pounds of tortillas ...

You anti-vegans still go off decade old stereo types...

People like OP are worried about these laws which seem to only effect big companies that handle huge numbers of livestock and care nothing about the environmental impact of livestock and the crops to feed them.

But... gotta have that cheap walmart meat ! Yee haw!

You've been playing too much fallout, the mutant rat's with monocles and top hat's will eat you long before it's get's to that stage.

Anyway an article that explains why we NEED meat in our diet.
breakingmuscle.com...

Please just stop...

The article is from a sports nutritionist student who practices a raw meat diet. Check out one of her sources (8) which is a 2014 study that studied 330 vegeterians (not vegan) and meat eaters with mixed resuls that could not prove anything.

Most of the UK media’s reporting on the study does not mention its numerous limitations and that it cannot prove cause and effect.

That's from her own linked source!!!!!!

Yet, she makes the bold assertion of

According to research conducted at the University of Graz, vegetarians are two to three times more likely than meat eaters to suffer from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and somatoform disorders and syndromes

With conclusions like that, it's obvious she's grasping at anything to fool her readers into a perception that you absolutely need meat.
