You hated Theresa May's deal to leave the EU yet you seem to be pulling yourself stupid over Boris's deal which effectively is the same as May's except conceding some points to the EU over Northern Ireland.
Why the change of heart?

It was a bad deal then and it's bloody bad deal now.

And his election could very well bring about the break up of the British Union.

Like most 'traditional Labour' voters who refused to support a party lead by Corbyn I acknowledge that Boris was probably the most acceptable choice from the truly appalling options available to us.

I don't see any of that as any cause to celebrate.

It's simple really.
Traitors pushed through a bill to take our #1 negotiating tactic away from our Prime Minister.
I.e. NO Deal.

Boris's deal is the very best we could get under those circumstances.

The election has devastated any hope that the EU can continue to hold the whip hand.
No deal will be back on the table as we negotiate the trade agreement through 2020.

The traitors who worked against our Govt and with the EU have been defeated.

It leaves us in a very strong negotiating position.
Remember Boris's deal is only an set of interim measures until full exit from the EU.

They'll say you're dead wrong about this take.

'They' being the same people that thought Brexit would never pass in the first place and same people that said it only passed because people were tricked and now that they knew the truth remainers would win. And they still think they're never wrong.

www.reuters.com... not looking good for labor in NZ either so the poster your replying to may be even more grumpy next election

ut domestic critics have questioned her leadership amid sinking business confidence, a slowing economy, governance issues and, most recently, her party’s handling of sexual assault complaints. Support for the center-left coalition government has dropped to its worst since 2017, while the opposition National Party has enough backing to form the next coalition government, a 1News/Colmar Brunton poll by state broadcaster 1News showed on Monday. On Tuesday, responding to the poll result, which showed support for the Labour-led coalition fell three percentage points to 40%, Ardern said she was not disappointed, and was pleased with the government’s progress.

I actually didn't vote for the Labour party at the last NZ elections (note the spelling, we use the English language here). I thought John Key (the previous NZ PM and National Party leader) did a good job and handled himself and the country with integrity.

But I might vote Labour at the next election. As a comparison between the performance of the leaders, Ardern and Bridges, the National Party has become fairly lackluster.

Neither the NZ National Party nor the NZ Labour Party are anywhere near as left-right polarized as the US. If you look at our current deputy PM, he is the leader of a right wing party and works well with the PM and the center-left Labour Party.

The Westminster system is different to the US republic.

If the government is not performing its duty, the royalty can dissolve parliament and then a new government must be chosen.

Pfft, those opinion polls were nothing more than rallying cries to the tory supporters. By making it look as though it would be close they were hoping to increase the turnout, that's all.
The media has been so pro tory throughout this election campaign that it's an embarrassment to democracy.

Strange.......

Most people thought it was the other way around!

We had our chance to vote for a leader who would govern for the people rather than the rich and we blew it. Now we can sit back and watch the country fall into the gutter.

Now we can see the UK rise from the ashes and become great AGAIN

Yes, they can re-take that colony!

Why?

Because that's just how lefties roll nowadays.

Is Trump a lefty, because I remember all that "lock her up" stuff.

I think that the right wing are doing a lot of it, too.

That was in response to this: "Judging from American news media, Britain hates trump.... So what do Brit's do?
Elect there own version of trump...
Then elect enough conservatives to help him out..."

I wouldn't say anything about the Brit media, we get their news from our already twisted news in secondhand reports...

www.msn.com... LOL reeee louder and hey if you could be ever so kind get us some videos of you screaming at the sky so we can relive 2016 all over again polls have closed they crushed labor

LONDON — Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Conservative Party won a commanding majority in the British Parliament, a striking victory that redraws the lines in British politics and paves the way for the country’s exit from the European Union early next year. The Conservatives were projected to win 363 seats in the House of Commons, versus 203 for the Labour Party, according to the BBC, with almost all of Parliament’s seats decided. That would give the Conservatives a 74-seat majority, their largest since that amassed by Margaret Thatcher in 1987. As the results flowed in from individual districts, they pointed to a radical reconfiguration of Britain’s political map. The Conservative Party was projected to win dozens of Labour seats in the industrial north and Midlands, shattering the so-called red wall that has undergirded the Labour Party for generations.
this is almsot exactly like when trump took the rust belt and other democratic strong holds ,and just as an aside your independent parties are "wild as all hell" i mean elmo and some guy with a bucket on his head standing by Boris whats up with that? we dont let vermin supreme stand along side trump or any president when they loose . were you not one saying Boris did not have the slightest chance and brexit was dead well seems to be another leftist prediciton based on over confidence that ended up with a stunning defeat end totals are 357 conservative ,203 labor ,and 80 other. race is done brexit is happening and now the eu is already coming to try to get a deal

Also, Trump had Mannafort and Cohen standing alongside him. I'd rather Elmo and Mr Bucket Head as comedy relief rather than straight-up crooks, real actual vermin, standing with the kingpin.

After a legal battle with the orginal Lord Buckethead, the person who ran against Boris had to rename himself as Count Binface. But the BBC seemed to use the old name.

EDIT : no wait - I think this could be the real Lord Buckethead. Count Binface is the other one... I think they both ran...

p.s. one of the reasons here why UK elections are easily the best.

When the economy is bad and the future looks dim, the stock market goes on a downward trend. When democrats threaten with tax hikes, that hurts middle America and if those democrats win, it drives the market down. When trade with China is on the verge of passing, the stock market goes up, when it stalls, the market drops. I've been watching it since it broke 20K and I've noticed the trends.

True.
There are already protests - pretty much using the same banners as the ones in the US against Trump except the name is changed to Boris.

Boris Johnson won the election but he may struggle to keep the UK together

When he's done celebrating his thumping election victory, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is going to realize he's got a problem -- some constituent parts of the United Kingdom are heading in different directions.

While Johnson's Conservative Party punched huge holes in Labour's red wall in the north of England and Wales with a dominant performance in England outside London, it fell back in Scotland -- in a set of results that reverse surprising gains from 2017 and may set a constitutional time bomb ticking.

It sounds like Boris Johnson made a mistake; he failed to realize that achieving victory would be the worst outcome for himself and the UK. I hope you guys survive your constitutional time bomb.

The people of the UK have sent a STRONG mandate for Brexit and for FREEDOM from the utterly undemocratic, corrupt and failing EU.

What Britain has done is elect a party of the rich who will look after the rich and deliver the worst case scenario for Brexit , Johnson is selling the deal as Brexit but it isn't Brexit , we will still be tied to the EU we just won't have a say over the direction of the EU.

like the 2016 US election we had a choice between bad and worse , we chose bad (I say we but I did not vote) , we elected a lying lightweight because the alternative was so unpalatable , it's for Johnson to prove me wrong

I see no reason to rejoice other than celebrating the undemocratic scumbags who lost their seats and in Swinson's case the leadership of her party.

The "party of the rich" is actually, paradoxically, LABOUR.
LABOUR supports bringing in migrants by the 100s of thousands on PURPOSE to depress British working wages as much as possible, and then stiffs the people a second time by raising taxes to pay for the benefits of the migrants.

The UK nor any other country never had any say in what happens in Brussels with UNDEMOCRATIC unelected "commissionners". They are more like USSR Kommissars, faking democracy. The UK has lost NOTHING and
gained FREEDOM !

Corbyn NEVER gave a damn about the English working people. FACT!

Conservative are the BEST Choice

Yep, the mob are rampaging around London... including trying to get to Jacob Rees Mogg in his home. Police holding them back.

These idiots have zero idea about democracy or why they have the freedoms to pull this kind of snip.

I was just reading about that. Only a thousand though from the article.

The signs are handed out by the Socialist Workers Party it said and the participants are ANTIFA, the communists and the socialist groups. They are demanding a "revolution" and the removal of all conservatives.

Seems the whole Western World is shifting Right due to fears of socialists and communists getting too much power.

Don't know why they try to hide their real views with fake concepts like Democratic Socialists. How democratic can they be when they won't honor elections.

Still, only a thousand, so I'd think the number of radicals are pretty small in real life. Not very many considering it was planned in advance.

Yep, these idiots are insane.

Ahead of a Conservative landslide in the British general elections on Thursday, Fusion GPS founders Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch — who commissioned the now-debunked Steele dossier — wrote an op-ed in The Guardian arguing that “Britain needs its own Mueller report” to investigate “Russian meddling” in British elections on behalf of the Conservative Party and Brexit.

“The British political system has become thoroughly compromised by Russian influence. It’s high time its institutions – including the media – woke up to that fact,” Simpson and Fritsch write. “While our initial focus was on Russian meddling in US politics, it has since become increasingly clear that Britain’s political system has also been deeply affected by Russian influence operations.”
