It is a good start.
Look at the years. Most are before the "evil"
All had their "starting point'

Well, Time's Person of the Year is quite an acknowledgement, but most people agree that People's "Sexiest Man Alive" has a bigger cultural impact.

All I see is a lot of jealous adults, that's all! She is, if you listen to the fanatics, the antichtist, working for big companies and governments, evil, working for the new world order, actress! I could go on and on. Of course, no evidence to back these stupid claims, as usual!

Well judging by the vitriol and anger directed at this tweener, she is the person of the year.

So did most folks in each and every country in which those leaders were....
....until it was too late.

Good for her.
She will get her 15 minutes of fame.

Unfortunately it's a perfect example of lowered standards.

What I find funny is that the climate change alarmists are so far gone now that the best person they have to attempt to try to sell their ideology...

Is a 16 year old girl.

Well, this is why the leftists want the voting age lowered to 16.

Yet want to raise the age to owning firearms to 21.

Now I'm confused.

Its crazy. They think she is a puppet with a team of handlers and of course George Soros because he's the right's boogeyman and every "leftist" movement worldwide is him😅😅😅. Talk about needing a reality check.

They should just let the abortion survivors vote as soon as they can crayon an "X" into a box on a ballot form.

Guns shouldn't be allowed anywhere.

They kill people all by themselves, after all.

Speaking of a reality check....

So Greta has accomplished all of this by herself?

I could have sworn the entire point of the Person of the Year was to showcase a person who had among the most, or the most, impact on society, regardless of whether a good impact or a bad one? Hence Hitler, Stalin, OBL, etc alongside ethically better people. The title isn't specifically for the ethically better, it's for the folks who made strong impacts for better or worse.

And that's the way it should be, not a brown-nosers-r-us rag issue.

That's the idea, and that's why they chose Nikita Khrushchev. The Times was careful to explain that their selection did not mean they thought Khrushchev was a great man, just an influential one.

Rudy Giuliani was chosen Man of the Year for 2001 because the Times didn't have the guts to name Osama bin Laden, who was being seriously suggested for these same reasons: he was the man behind one of the most consequential events in at least a generation.

I still say the Hong Kong Democracy Protestors should have won it for 2019. Major echoes of the Tiananmen Square protests there. I suspect the Times unofficially disqualified them because they're afraid of pissing off the Chinese government.

Then again, Kim Jong-Un was unofficially Time's "Person of the Year" at one point by vote.

Sorry I haven't read every reply, but I'm replying.

I feel sorry for this child. When you reach a high climax of your life so early you burn out fast. Ask every child actor who came before her.

Time's reader poll overwhelmingly (and I do mean OVERWHELMINGLY... 30% to 4.5%) chose the HK protesters as their people of the year. That's the real story here... Time kneeling before the Chinese government and avoiding giving those protesters acknowledgement. It is a perfect example of how media conglomeration and the monopoly 5 mega-multinationals hold over 90%+ of the media is a very, very bad thing. Time is owned by Warner Media, who has been desperately trying to tap into the Chinese market with their movies and stand to make billions off that market. It is not a coincidence that they totally rejected the entire focus of the HK protests as well.
time.com...
Time's mention of the protests? A bastardization likely sterilized and ran through the Chinese government prior to publishing it:

These disparate youth movements are beginning to see some wins. In Hong Kong, after months of sometimes-violent protests by young people resisting Beijing’s authoritarian rule, the pro-democracy parties won major victories in the local elections in November.

Yeah, Beijing would love it if the world at large thought those protests had one goddamned thing to do with the environment or climate change.

These American media companies are an effing joke.
