Politicians love panhandlers

Nothing is more disgusting than a politician offering
something for free. What he or she offers for free
was earned by a producer. Therefore he'll devise
more legislation to penalize the producers so
he can give you something for free.

Beware the pandering politicians projects that offers
something for free. They've learned the best way to
disenfranchise, disincentivize, and demoralize ambition
is to keep people dependent on Government handouts.

Such politicians desire a panhandlers mentality from
their constituents.

That pretty much covers everyone in office at the moment.

You know what gets politicians elected?
Votes.
You know what gets vote's?
Telling voters how much stuff they will get for their vote.

Tax cuts/hikes.
Open/closed borders.
More/ less gun control.

Basically "giving" people what they want most and for many that's other people's money in the form of "free" stuff.

OTOH, someone produced the panhandlers. If you produce something that can't live without handouts, what is your level of responsibility for that? If you produced a bum, didn't you actually kinda make things worse? And no. I don't necessarily mean you specifically (as I don't know you). But somebody did. A lot of somebodies. You can blame a bum for a lot of things but you can't blame them for their own existence. They didn't poof themselves into existence out of thin air. Your society creates an environment in which more babies are never seen as a bad thing.

The conservative mindset (generally) does not like abortion and birth control and takes a "let the chips fall where they may" approach to reckless breeding. Well, someday all those pointless babies are going to have to go somewhere. I suppose you could beat them into production mode but that doesn't strike me as "pro-life" unless you have a twisted way of defining it.

agreed. Give people handouts until they cannot live without them and then force them to do what you want by either offering more or see the alternative threaten to take them away. The government should not be anyone's provider, especially illegal immigrants, but there are others.

Essentially you're blaming society or some other causative agent
for producing panhandlers.

In my understanding, whether social position of panhandler
or Bill Gates, every persons present position
is the sum total of their choices.

Choice with it's cumulative consequences
is what makes people a panhandler or
the reverse.

I've yet to observe anything
to make me believe people are
automatons without the ability
to choose.

Such people are usually classified
under the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders and should be
under a physicians care.

Unless I'm mistaken, drug and alcohol
abuse is a contributing factor to panhandling.
No one is forced to partake of anything
that causes mental illness, Therefore
responsibility lies with the individual alone.

Your response gives me the idea some
politicians might be motivated
towards wealth distribution from a
sense of guilt.

Which is why voters are equally guilty of this mess we find ourselves in.
