Things continue to go awry for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In early November, the California senator's campaign announced a round of layoffs and pay cuts. Now state operations director Kelly Mehlenbacher has resigned—and her farewell letter offers a scathing glimpse inside Harris' operation. "This is my third presidential campaign and I have never seen an organization treat its staff so poorly," Mehlenbacher wrote in the letter obtained by The New York Times. "With less than 90 days until Iowa we still do not have a real plan to win." "We have refused to confront our mistakes, foster an environment of critical thinking and honest feedback, or trust the expertise of talented staff," Mehlenbacher's letter continued. The Times interviewed "50 current and former campaign staff members and allies, most of whom spoke on condition of anonymity." Their takeway? Harris' swift drop—which the campaign and its allies have blamed on racism and sexism—was both predictable and largely divorced from larger cultural or political forces:

I see your political knowledge is very slim. There are many candidates to fold before Biden.

That may be your desire since he would badly beat Trump.

You mean like out behind the woodshed?

Trump is rude, crude, and even uncouth in his speaking. Given. But Joe Biden is sinking into a quagmire called Ukraine and Burisma, is quite the ladies man if the ladies are very young (as in young children), and seems a bit too... weird?... for most people. Not to mention his speeches are sounding almost senile as of late. In a debate between the two? Trump wins hands down.

Now add in the booming economy under Trump with no end in sight, and the miserable economy under Obama with Biden as VP. And you think Biden could defeat Trump in an election? Hahaha, good joke.

Yes it's a joke.

A day later, in Des Moines, Biden addressed a group called the Iowa Asian and Latino Coalition, an organization that was started a few years ago to advocate for minority communities in a state that is ninety per cent white. The event took place at a plumbers-and-steamfitters union hall, in a stuffy room crammed with coalition members, the general public, campaign staff, and press. About twenty minutes into his remarks, Biden turned to the issue of education. “Does anybody here think that twelve years of education is enough for the twenty-first century?” he said. “I don’t know anybody who thinks that.” He called for increased funding to Title I schools, increased teacher pay, and universal pre-K. “We have this notion that, somehow, if you’re poor, you cannot do it,” he said, speaking of academic success, before adding, “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” There were groans in the room, and a smattering of hesitant applause. Biden quickly corrected himself. “Wealthy people,” he said. “Black kids. Asian kids.” Within moments, reporters had put the quote on their Twitter feeds. Trump’s campaign, delighted, clipped the video and tweeted about it, too.

Were talking about the politics of the election not who is the best candidate.

Biden is still doing better than most of the candidates.

Kamala didn't come across as authentic, IMO, that's why she lost that momentum she had.

To win the presidency a candidate has to have a narrative. A story where issues merge into that story and can have an impact on the nation.

Every winner always has a narrative, just go back and look:
Obama had one, Clinton, Reagan Carter, Nixon, even Trump.

She like Hillary didn't have a narrative. You cant have a narrative that says one is only a democrat or republican. A successful candidate tells a story that transcends party politics.

No.

You have to have a platform.

Raise taxes or lower them.
Control immigration or open borders.
Socialized medicine or free market.
Communism or capitalism.
Fair trade or one-world government.

The candidate who wins is usually the one who appears to be the best candidate to the most active voters.

I can respect your position re the narrative. I think of it similarly, that a candidate has to connect with the people and instill confidence in the people that he/she will be the best choice. That sounds a lot like what you are talking about with a narrative. Trump tapped into that. Obama did, too, but then disappointed the voters and allowed Trump to present himself as the "anti-Obama." His rash language, manipulation of the media, and tweets are all part of that and all keep him tapped into the thing that allowed him to win.

Biden hasn't been able to tap into that... really, none of the candidates have to any appreciable extent. Biden appears to be the most stable (which is in itself a scary thought) politically. He has experience as VP and his positions are not as "left-fieldish" as Warren and Sanders. But damn, he's creepy! Watching him conjures up images that are worrying even steadfast hardcore Democrats... even Obama himself!

I believe had Sanders not caved in and endorsed Clinton so readily in the 2016 campaign, he would today be in a position to actively challenge Biden head to head. But when he caved, he lost the respect of a huge portion of his base. Now his base is much smaller and nowhere near large enough to convince independents to look at him seriously. Warren had a following, until she threw them under the bus with her "Medicare for all" proposal. If people wanted that, they already had Sanders to go to; they didn't need Warren. As it turns out, it seems a great many of Warren's supporters didn't want it.

Mayor Pete is riding the wave of "none of the above" IMO. He's not really got a platform, but when the other platforms are so repulsive that can be a good thing. I won't be surprised if Mayor Pete takes Iowa... but his track record as Mayor is a lot less than desirable. He can't stand up to Trump.

Yeah, she didn't make it about her gender or her race.
Not everybody needs to lay blame for everything that happens.

Are you going to do this for every candidate that drops out because at the end of the day there can be only one.

Or do you imagine a field where its trump against nobody?

Are you kidding?

Trump IS running against nobody. He is literally unopposed.

Poor thing you

LoL. Probably because she was as fake as a Botox injection. You make it sound as if she was actually authentic and she just was portrayed badly by everyone.

She pandered to everyone......that's the sign of not being really genuine and authentic. When her true feelings came out against Gabbard, you saw the real unvarnished Harris.

Now with her and Beto gone, who am I going to mock for the way they talk behind a podium? Horrible Speakers they were. Booker I guess for a few more days till he drops.

I miss her fakeness already.........

Lots of speculation that Biden did not want to run, but was asked to by the Dems to run so they can accuse Trump of spying on a "candidate". Once the sham of an investigation is wrapped up Biden can go back to kiddie sniffing.

Harris is like Obama, in that she's technically African American, but not really.

Obama was raised by his white mother and grandmother (and Indonesian stepfather), and grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia. Harris' parents are Jamaican and Indian. Neither has anything in common with any typical African American beyond skin color. Both of them are totally fake.

It's like if Justin Trudeau moved to Michigan and ran for governor, and expected me to vote for him just because he's white. Uh, no.

There may be some truth in that. Biden announced his candidacy on April 25th, just four days after Zelensky won the Ukrainian Presidency on an anti-corruption platform. The DNC had been after Trump since before he got elected, so they surely knew he would look into Ukraine. If Joe Biden was a candidate, they could use that as a way to try and keep Trump and Zelensky from digging too deep by bringing up the 'fact' he is Trump's political opponent (even if he isn't, at least until and unless he wins the nomination).

The timing is suspicious, as is the fact that Obama refused to endorse him. The DNC and MSM could easily be artificially keeping his numbers high for now as well. There's little to no chance he could win against Trump with all the gaffes he makes, so why else would his numbers be staying so high? I am starting to think he was never meant to get the nomination, just keep Trump busy while the House can impeach him, run his name through the mud, then suddenly someone like Hillary shows up to take what is 'rightfully hers' against a wounded opponent.

Problem is, Trump's popularity goes up every time there's an impeachment hearing.

Let's see...

Kamala is out of here.

Tulsi never caught traction.

Is Booker still in the running? Last I heard he was hanging in there by a thread.

Beto go bye bye.

Bloomberg has about as much chance as a snowflake in a nuclear reactor meltdown.

Yang can't get anything going.

Most of the rest are just playing catch-up to fourth place 9and not very well).

So we have left as actual potential candidates: Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and Pete Buttigieg (sp?]. A fake socialist, a fake Indian, a fake human, and a fake mayor.

Comrade Sanders has already shown that he's a sell-out, and now he's literally preaching against himself since he's now a millionaire. Fauxcahontas is slipping down the polls since she can't come up with a straight answer about how she's gonna pay for her utopian healthcare proposal, and now she's been caught doing her own rendition of Obama's infamous "You didn't build that!" speech. Creepy Uncle Joe is getting creepier by the day. Mayor Pete might take Iowa, but he probably won't take his own city, and so far all I have heard from him so far as qualifications is "I'm gay! Vote for me!"

It's looking like we may well see a last-moment entry. Oprah? She doesn't seem to want in this circus sideshow. Michelle Obama? Maybe, she's got a following but she also brings up visions of high unemployment and low wages under her husband's administration. Hillary? Heaven forbid the Hildebeast appears again, but she's just demented enough to try it.

Unless they can come up with someone else, which is unlikely because so far everyone is trying to out-spend the other using taxpayer funds.

This isn't true. 52% plus now support removal, not just impeachment but full removal. This is expected to rise into the low 60s by Christmas. I'd imagine after all of the holiday table conversations for that number to rise even higher. And unfortunately for you, in the battleground states.

When senators who are up for re-election (cough cough Kentucky) realize their constituents are against this president they will jump ship like the Titanic. Just wait.

Republicans need to stop worrying about the presidency and start worrying about retaining the senate come 2020. Otherwise lose it all. Get on the right side of history now.

guess biden is open to giving her the VP slot

www.reuters.com...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A day after U.S. Senator Kamala Harris ended her 2020 presidential bid, former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading contender for the Democratic nomination, said on Wednesday he would consider her as a potential running mate. Biden, with whom Harris clashed during a Democratic debate earlier this year, praised her after a campaign event in Ames, Iowa.
guess we will see if this helps or hinders biden in the long run or if hes even serious

Not by a long shot. How about some real numbers?

DEVASTATING: Democrats’ Only Accomplishment – The Trump Impeachment Show Trials Are Now COMPLETELY UNDERWATER in Swing States

By the numbers: In a dozen October and November polls on impeachment in battleground states like Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin, an average of 44% of those surveyed supported impeachment, with 51% opposed, according to the Post.

The national average is supposedly 47% supporting impeachment and 43% opposed.

Independents narrowly oppose impeachment, 44% to 42%.

Of course, most of those polls have been grossly over-sampling Democrats (sometimes by up to 10%) in an effort to create the appearance of support for impeachment. Corrected to reflect an accurate partisan split, Americans have consistently been against impeachment, and it really hasn't changed.
