going after the Mexican Cartels means going after almost the entire Mexican Government and half of our own.

Don't be so naive.

Drug Cartels having been funding their politicians and ours for a very very long time.

Why do you think there is this fight going on for open or closed borders?

Closing the borders means a lot less money for the American and Mexican law enforcement.

And this is why so many are hellbent to impeach the president. He wants to drain the swamp and is equally ready to take out the cartels. Both affect the corrupt in Washington. Same with the MSM who's leaders are probably as corrupt as the swamp dwellers.

Thats weird, when I read the article it just stated that Trump wants to designate drugdealers as terrorists and invade Mexico with us armed forces.

Same thing right, totally legit. That Mexican president must be part of the cartel if he doesnt want the us armies help.
That's totally not like the rest of the world determining the US 2nd admendment is enabeling terrorists and we'll come take them for you. Oh snap!

Then your comprehension is really bad.

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he planned to designate the Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations, after earlier saying he would help Mexico wage war on the drug gangs and wipe them off the face of the earth.

Trump said he would work with Mexico and help them get rid of the cartels. Mexico was given the ability to have the US military assist him in dealing with cartels, no invasion, no US forces against his will, and he is refusing US help which will keep the cartels in power.

No, he doesn't want any help in attacking the cartels, he wants the cartels left alone. Trump never said he was doing anything against Mexico's will.

We are NOT going in. Please, that is never going to happen.

Do you realize your TDS is so strong you are pro cartel because Trump is against them? Hilarious.

Here's my take on this. I don't think the Mexican President is on the cartels payroll, but I think he fears what will happen. If people think it's bloody now between the uncorrupted police and the cartels, once actual war breaks out between them and the US things will get real messy.

Hundreds of thousands will die over the next decade with inaction. And then more the decade after. More the decade after ....

Is the cost of action higher than the cost of inaction?

60 seconds after Trump made his announcement there was a phone call to the Mexican president saying he better not let that happen...or else!

F# these cartels!! I say we go in there and surgically hit these buttwipes where it hurts, right in their growing fields. And hit 'em HARD! Take as many of these douchebuckets with them as they can! Let 'em start killing the crooked politicians, good riddance for them too!

ETA - No need to send in the Army, screw that! No police action...just KILL 'em all! I'm tired of this crap!

A few weeks of intel and a couple of dozen A-10’s. Cut the head off of the snake.

As if most drug users care about them self and won't seek out drugs if their first source is gone.

As long as there is a demand, s supply will exist.

the US 2nd amendment is enabling terrorists

That's just dumb. What is enabling the drug cartels is not the 2nd amendment. It's this asinine drug war. It's pouring billions of dollars into the cartel's pockets. Sheesh!

A world wide war on drugs? Can't just get rid of the Mexico supply. Otherwise, there will always be a supply. Probably at a higher price and therefore more crime.

Cheaper to give out free drugs until all users are dead.

I think because what happens in Mexico is none of our business.

Do we want to encourage another countries leader to come here and try running things?

Just what does trump think he can do anyway?

And yet, a bunch of selfish idiots in the USA that keep buying drugs from violent cartels to give them power.

That won't stop the cartels now. They've invested heavily in legitimate business ventures, on top of their other dealings such as human trafficking. How far are we willing to go for a bloodless resolution to the cartel problem? Do we legalize human trafficking, and organ harvesting to stop them?

The drug war can't work if the CIA is part of the drug running operation..

The US can’t wipe out their own drug problem. And they certainly can’t wipe out the Mexican drug cartels

They would bring an absolute disaster on America and Mexico if the US intruded in that war.

I don't necessarily think it would be disastrous to have a predator drone loitering a few miles out from a Cartel's coastal villa..

It will when an innocent civilian or civilians get wiped out.

Drones have killed many innocent people.

Yup, some too full of hurr durr to understand this. Only thing will happen is driving up price, and that means more profit, more death..etc The cartels are not going to take it sitting down either..there will be bloodshed on U.S. soil.

Doing it economically is the only possible way. Only a real f'ing fool thinks you can win this drug war.

The best way to handle this in my opinion is to trace the money and start at the top and work your way down...

I'm not sure how easy that would be as far as tracing the money goes.. although it does provide a good argument for a global electronic currency and then all participants could be made subject to global audits to find out where the money comes from.

You could also instantly shut off their money supply. I know we've all thought of that scenario and how easy it would be for the government to cut off our money supply as well but it's situations like this that are forcing such things upon society... we can't let these bastards keep running wild like they are.... killing innocent people.

The cartels may be bad but their influence feeds lots of people in Mexico and many of the Mexican people might decide to take up arms with the Cartel which could cause major chaos in their country. It is not so easy to start declaring war on such big entities and Mexican citizens could suffer a lot if that happens.

I think that the new president there is being conservative, also many people in law enforcement and in government have ties to the Cartel. It could lead to an overthrow of the leaders of Mexico, this has to be done right, not with haste.

Trump may have what appears to be a good idea but he needs to listen somewhat to Mexico's concerns too.

Just a touch off topic, but can you imagine a drone replacement for the A-10? That would be like that flying thing in Terminator.

The Cartels will have their resources seized in nearly every country in the world...money is useless if you cannot acess it or spend it...… Society is going cashless at light speed.... anywhere they do run to hide will have to face American Military might....harboring a Terrorist Group is leaving yourself open to massive impacts including Military strikes.

The Mexican President is simply afraid of a bloodbath or a Civil Guerilla war...but he is mistaken...simply because If the MEXICAN PEOPLE want the Gangs gone they will co-operate with American forces...and if they do that then these Gangs have nowhere to hide...with Pablo Escobar he had the minds and voices of the people because he really did make their lives better in many ways ….not anyone else but his Homeys were taken care of first...….and even he went down....these Mexican Gangs are evil and a lot are even worshipping against the Church which is very Important to the Mexican People.....Mexican Gangs cannot survive without Poisoning USA and Canada and other Countries with their Drugs and Terrorism...they have not allowed the country of Mexico the freedom to grow and prosper so they cannot make any money in their home Country.... but in todays world of digital money and cyber-forensics there is literally OWHERE TO HIDE and if there is a license to nail you -- you shall be nailed to the wall....if America deems these Gangs to be Terrorist groups then the rules change DRAMATICLLY....and action and intervention is imminent 24/7/365....anywhere on the Planet.....America can reach out anywhere on the Globe and touch someone in real time.
