8 out of 9 Liberals understand its not free in an informal poll of peers. The 9th wants death to all Republicans, so we won't count that one.

So I opened my ears, talked to people.

Maybe you just learned something.

But I doubt it, you are blinded by hate.
What you really mean is that liberals know it’s not free that someone else is gonna pay, yep that sounds just about right.

No, I’m not a leftist in any modern sense. My primary concern is civil rights and equitability before the laws.

I “defend” a lot because I challenge illogical, dishonest arguments, not because I agree with the “other side.”

And I’ll admit, I’m still maturing.
Do you are socially liberal, but fiscally not a socialist but you think BErnie is a righty.... something off about your perception of the commie. I would love to understand.

A rock and a hard place. Work hard and get more money, just to be taxed to death. Or avoid those high taxes by living on a measly UBI.

They can't even get SS or the VA to work right, how the hell would they get all this other crap to work right?

They can't. But that doesn't stop them from promising the moon, so you'll keep them in power.

You hit that nail perfectly. Why would anyone think more of the DMV is good.

Keep in mind here that I want to see all taxes go away completely, have Federal and State and local governments go back to spending only what they earn (like all of us) etc.

But come on ... let’s talk in real terms unless you guys just want this to be another “hell with dems” thread.
Yes! Let’s talk in real terms. If you really wanted that you wouldn’t vote Democrat. It’s pretty simple.
Not that the GOP hasn’t gone leftward. That was explained here very nicely by Burdman, which I appreciate. The whole country keeps going left, so the right is really a little left.

The economic trend lines for the last three years are on the same progression as the last decade.

Recent tax cuts benefited the wealthy far more than the average American, and the actual number is more like 60-70% benefiting, with the lowest wage earners getting a $40 annual tax cut, while the average family got $800 per year, but in the process, several deductions that benefited the middle class were taken away (like deducting mortgage interest)

Without corresponding cuts in spending, these tax incentives for the wealthy are once again ballooning the deficit which will in turn slow the economy and possibly trigger a recession. Typical Republican voodoo economics.

Nice Democrat talking points. I’ll take the Republican voodoo over the Democrat any day. Still, all things considered, Id like it more if the gop would stop caving to socialist Democrat policies.

Bernie has targeted the wealthy, saying they should “pay their fair share” (whatever that means), but he hasn’t been very descriptive about what tax increases would look like if his Medicare for All plan was implemented. During a town hall meeting in Salem, New Hampshire, Sanders laid out the tax proposal associated with his plan.
“What we will do — what we will do is have a four percent tax on income exempting the first $29,000,” he told a cheering crowd. “All right, good. You — you’re better at arithmetic than I am. Because what that means is if you are that average family in the middle who makes $60,000 a year, that means we’re going to tax you on $31,000 at four percent.”

Bold is mine.

So according to Comrade Sanders, if you're making over 29,000/year, you're wealthy! Congratulations!

I won't even go into how badly government already spends our money, but this aged communist wants even more of it to pay for his socialized medicine program.

I'll just add an awesome line from the link. . . .

This is what you leftists seem to want, hope like hell you can defend it, you bunch of greedy, needy, elitist takers and fakers!

Don't worry, everyone will be "wealthy" with a $15/hr minimum wage.

Oh give us a break. Trump had both Chambers for 2 years. Stop with the “it’s the Democrats fault” on that crap.

The republicans like to talk a good game but they are as bad as the democrats. Trump tax reform was a joke .

In what way?

86% got tax cuts, $1500 for the averaged middle class family - and it helped the economy to roar.

I seriously have no idea how anybody could actually be opposed to it. Being opposed is a clear indication you have TDS.

Are you crushing on the Donald? Your tds comments makes you look as bad as the Hillary supporters that want to bury their head in the sand. Look at my post history and you can see where I have stated that luckily he beat the wicked witch of the left. However unlike you, I don't think Trump walks on water.

I didnt say I was oppssed to it, I said it was laughable as some major reform when it wasn't.

For all the crap the Republicans talk about small govt and small taxes, that tax cut was a joke.

The Republicans grew govt like the Democrats. Republicans gave you the Patriot act,Homeland security, continue the worthless war on drugs, gave you the bailouts, did nothing significant about Obamacare when they had the chance, and are spending as much as the Democrats with no major tax reform coming because you Trump lovers are acting like the tax reform was epic.

So Unless you are crushing hard on the Republican party you can see there really isn't much difference between the two party besides words.

This means he's going to give about $5k a year to everyone earning less than $60k. That's individuals not household.
Thats about 90% of the working population or about 120 million people.

So he's going to have to raise abou $600bn from the 10%, or 13m people. That's an average tax raise of $46,000 a year he'll need to apply to the 10%.
To be fair to him I guess he's doing what he said he'd do in true communist fashion - redistributing wealth.
When the money runs out - highest earners leaving the US - I guess he'll ask people to eat rats.

You have to understand, Bernie is thinking of the long game. Because after 4 years of his brand of socialism, if you are still making as much as 29K a year, you WILL be rich.

It would likely cost more than 4%. If you look at the total tax cost to operate those programs in other countries there is usually a consumption tax that follows once everyone realizes their government program is going broke. I've always found it odd how so many people don't seem to equate taxes with lost income.

What the hell do you mean "what does that mean".

The wealthy should not pay, is that what you mean?

Give me a break, give us all a break...let's break this open.

The wealthy don’t have to pay for others just because they have more. That is the serpent’s lie of Marxist philosophy. If the current crop of Marxist legislators really meant what they say, then they would start with themselves, but they’ve gotten rich off the taxes of the middle class.
