It’s a little more complicated than “tax the rich to pay for the poor” in reality. That’s just pejorative. It’s a catch-phrase.

No it isn't,

Capital gains medicare surtax.

Alternative minimum tax ontop of the income tax.

And then Enter people like Warren and Sanders that intend to make rich folks the new 3/5's crowd and make them PAY EVERTHING for the mobs wants.

It's not a a catch phrase it's what they openly campaign on.

Fair enough.

Then why don’t you quote from their plans rather than summarizing?

All told, Sanders’s current plans would cost as much as $97.5 trillion over the next decade, and total government spending at all levels would surge to as high as 70 percent of gross domestic product.

Comrade Sanders a walking man caused disaster.

The man is as dangerous as he is STUPID.

8 out of 9 Liberals understand its not free in an informal poll of peers. The 9th wants death to all Republicans, so we won't count that one.

So I opened my ears, talked to people.

Maybe you just learned something.

But I doubt it, you are blinded by hate.

And when government starts mandating cost controls on the medical industry doctors, nurses and every other person in the field will quit in frustration with no one getting the training necessary to replace them. Medical care will go to hell. Long lines waiting for care and can't get what they need for months. People will die needlessly under a socialist system of supposedly free healthcare.

Source?

www.healthmarkets.com...

This is where you fail. Medicare is 80% and you pay the additional 20%, but if Comrade Bernie picks up the tab for the additional 20% he'll have to raise taxes even further, plus, you're stuck with this plan, have no choice to opt in or out, and are mandated to pay regardless.

Under Sanders' plan, cost-sharing is eliminated. So no, you won't need to 'raise taxes even further' because it's already covered by the planned increase in taxes. pnhp.org...

Fully cover all medications, without copayment: Sen. Sanders’ bill excludes cost-sharing for health care services.

Land of the not so free with the insanely complex tax system you use over there and amount of people on medication of one form or another .

Life is a lot simpler and easier here in the UK

He is doing it all wrong for the middle class, it should be person not per couple/household so the they make $60 then they should pay 4% on 2K, that would make the middle class stronger, and more flexibility. The alpha earner works full-time the beta earner works part time, looks after the kids.

An $80.00 federal tax bill on $60K is pretty good.

Don't you need COMPETITION in a capitalist system?

Last I heard, Putin jailed his. Wouldn't call him capitalist, but your free to worship him. Just don't get it twisted, he is no capitalist.

Without corresponding cuts in spending, these tax incentives for the wealthy are once again ballooning the deficit which will in turn slow the economy and possibly trigger a recession. Typical Republican voodoo economics.

I am only going to disagree with you on this point. It's not Republican voodoo, it's congressional voodoo. When is the last time you've seen either party make substantial budget cuts?

Mo$st of you are reading this wrong. Bernie is saying 0% tax bracket on the first $29,000 of income and 4% on the next $31,000 or $1,240 of tax. Under the Trump plan now in law, the first $24,000 is 0%, the next $19,400 is 10%, the next $56,550 is 12%. So under the Trump plan making $60,000 will cost you $5,612. Now, each kid you have knocks that down by $2,000. So if you make $60,000, whether you pay more under the current system or Bernie's proposal, depends on how many kids you have. Bernie may leave kid credits in there as well. The plan is short on detail. The problem with Bernie is once you get above that number, he wants to increase the rates really fast.

Health care in this country and the cost of insurance can be fixed by doing this. Have insurance companies cover the first $150,000 of cost. After that you go on a government plan. The hard truth is once you are above $150,000, you likely have some awful cancer and are going to die. Or some other chronic illness. The reason why insurance rates are so high, is that the 1% who have some awful disease cause everyone else to pay a lot. If the insurance companies knew their exposure was limited, the cost of premiums would go down probably by half. If you don't like the government plan for catastrophic care, I would let the market offer plans and if you want it fine, pay for it. To pay for the the government share, there is a 2.9% medicare tax embedded in the net investment tax for incomes above $400,000. But there are lots of ways to avoid this. I would lower the income threshold to $300,000 and I would make S corporation income and any type of partnership income subject to the tax or SE tax. No avoiding both anymore. Leave the rest of the tax system alone. Essentially, it is hitting the really wealthy with a 2.9% tax, that they should be paying anyway under current law absent planning techniques to avoid it. I am just taking the loophole away to pay for it.

Sanders isn't the answer. I think Mark Cuban described this health care plan. Why no candidates are going with this is beyond me. Everyone keeps their insurance. No one goes bankrupt if they get some catastrophic disease and the pay for is the removal of a loophole that shouldn't be there to being with.

Next year I'm retiring and continuing to work part time and throwing 50% of my paycheck in the 401k. My reportable will be a little over 10k. Not that I'd vote for a communist but older people who are on fixed might support it. If they're mental "lightweights" due to aging. And there's a lot of them... er... us.

No really, seriously ... Sanders said this yesterday and now you’re convinced that this is what all non-Trump supporters want? (Since that seems to be the going definition of “leftist.”)

BS Cowboy. I think Sanders is a right two-watt.
You think Sander is right wing? Seriously? I’d love for you to specify. He is a communist no doubt.
