Bernie has targeted the wealthy, saying they should “pay their fair share” (whatever that means), but he hasn’t been very descriptive about what tax increases would look like if his Medicare for All plan was implemented. During a town hall meeting in Salem, New Hampshire, Sanders laid out the tax proposal associated with his plan.
“What we will do — what we will do is have a four percent tax on income exempting the first $29,000,” he told a cheering crowd. “All right, good. You — you’re better at arithmetic than I am. Because what that means is if you are that average family in the middle who makes $60,000 a year, that means we’re going to tax you on $31,000 at four percent.”

legalinsurrection.com...

Bold is mine.

So according to Comrade Sanders, if you're making over 29,000/year, you're wealthy! Congratulations!

I won't even go into how badly government already spends our money, but this aged communist wants even more of it to pay for his socialized medicine program.

I'll just add an awesome line from the link. . . .

Christopher Jacobs writes at The Federalist:
If You Think Health Care Is Expensive Now, Just Wait Until It’s ‘Free’

This is what you leftists seem to want, hope like hell you can defend it, you bunch of greedy, needy, elitist takers and fakers!

Every time some democrat presidential candidate opens their mouth Trump gets more republican converts IMO.

And another thing email author unknown:

"America does not need to see the tax return of a billionaire who became a public servant.
America needs to see the tax returns of all public servants who
became millionaires while being public servants.

Well, with a close like that, who would want to disagree with you?

Sheesh.

This will be the new incentive.

Earn less than 29K/year just so you don't get "penalized" by the wealth tax.

No really, seriously ... Sanders said this yesterday and now you’re convinced that this is what all non-Trump supporters want? (Since that seems to be the going definition of “leftist.”)

BS Cowboy. I think Sanders is a right two-watt.

Don't forget these clowns continue to say that middle class families will still save money overall, even with higher taxes. Yeah right. At first they implied their Medicare-For-All BS plan wouldn't affect middle income families, now this. What other surprises will they come up with down the road? Yet their gullible supporters continue to rally behind them. smh

Why I put this in the 'Pit.

Apparently this is what people want. Lets see if anyone wants to defend it.

Bernie has a typical government mindset.

Obamacare says if you make $50,000 per year, you can afford $800 a month for your health insurance with no problem.

Well, this might be your choice.

Commie Sanders or Orange Man With Tiny Hands Bad Bigly.

Choose wisely.

So according to Bernie, I'm upper class? And at what rate would one be taxed passed 29k?

I really don't feel like I have to say this, but 29k or 60 for a family really is not that much money.

Yeah, I love when life long government workers, who have never paid a dime for health care, makes decisions about how much I should or should be able to pay for mine.

So $7.25 x 40 x 52 is $15,080/year. And if married and filing jointly that is $30,160.

And the cutoff is $29,000 you say? Who’s rich now?

I can never understand why people actually think Medicare is free...much less, Medicare For All!

Wait until one of these socialist dumb****s get into office. You will get a front row seat to the disintegration of prosperity.

People pay into Medicare with each paycheck they receive. On top of that, once you begin drawing Medicare, you are charged monthly for it. It is not free. It comes right out of your Social Security check!

If you and your spouse are both receiving Social Security, double that! Then, on top of that, Medicare only pays approx. 80% of medical costs. You or your supplemental private insurance will pay the additional 20%. Then, if you want prescription coverage, add an extra payment. No, Medicare is not free and it goes up periodically.

People like Warren and Bernie are going to destroy this country.

Your link says he told the cheering crowd "you're better at arithmetic than I am". Lord help us if any one of these idiots are successful in persuading a majority to vote for them.

It's been their platform forever. Tax the rich to pay for the poor.

In every case, even when they themselves done it... The middle class got beat to hell. It NEVER affected the rich, no matter which side was supposedly going to bat for the people. The only one that ever looked remotely in favor of the people was the first idea Trump put out there but he was c-blocked at every turn so we ended up getting less of that "for the people" benefit. Thanks to Democrats.... Of course.

Since the beginning... Democratic leaders only want to give everyone everything for free so their socialist plan actually makes sense to them. More government - a communist way of life.

No thank you

Yes, two kids working at the 7-11, struggling to make ends meet will actually be taxed under Sanders plan.

It’s a little more complicated than “tax the rich to pay for the poor” in reality. That’s just pejorative. It’s a catch-phrase.

The middle class was beat to hell under Republican policies for the last couple of Great Depressions, Recessions, etc.

Democratic Administrations got us out of those situations.

Oh give us a break. Trump had both Chambers for 2 years. Stop with the “it’s the Democrats fault” on that crap.

You’re grossly oversimplying the matter. No one wants to “give everything for free” (except maybe Bernie) so that’s just ... not a valid argument.

At least bend a slight stitch toward the facts, eh?
