Amazon workers describe brutal work conditions

I did the same thing at UPS as I described, but I invited my abusive boss out to lunch to settle our differences. He declined and he didn’t even fire me!

So, I quit.

Anyway, still, we should know what’s going on and make decisions one way or the other to do business with the organization.

In a few years time, Amazon will be stop employing humans except in managerial roles and only employ robots. They are already trialling drone delivery here in the UK. Robots don't need rest breaks holidays sick days nor do they need Employment laws. Those people complaining about the crappy working conditions will be the first complaining there are no jobs in their areas once Amazon (and others probably) go fully robotic.
Its the same thing that happened with the British Car Industry and Steel Industry.

Interesting that phrase you used, "employ robots".

I wonder if the robotic systems are for hire or if you have to integrate your own units over time? I bet you could simply hire a company that rents you the equipment you need and the provides the personnel to service it. I can see a lot of jobs besides the common labor ones being lost due to the robotic replacement of the labor force. This is going to change everything without a doubt.

ETA: I wonder what an unemployed robot might do to occupy it's time? Likely it would be "jacking on" like Bender from Futurama.

As a college boy, I recall working at UPS. It was savage. The USPS was alright.
But UPS was barbaric.

NEW YORK - Workers at a Staten Island Amazon fulfillment center claim they are working in brutal conditions that are more dangerous than coal mines and expected to do work at rates design for robots and not humans.
A rally was held Monday afternoon on Staten Island. Activists and workers detailed complaints and demands. The workers and activists protested what they said are inhumane job conditions. They want longer break times and free MetroCards for public buses to get to the worksite.
Organizers claim that more than 600 workers have signed petitions to demand the changes. Workers complain of "brutal shifts" often lasting between 10 and 12 hours. They claim that an analysis of Amazon's own data show the fulfillment center on Staten Island is more dangerous than traditionally dangerous sectors like coal mining and waste collection.
Amazon workers on Staten Island experience severe injuries that require them to miss an average of nearly 64 days of work annually for recovery, according to an analysis from Make the Road New York and New York Communities for Change.

I am sure they were informed as to the rigor and hard work before they accepted the job, c'mon give me a break. And! Yes And! Why would they not think that working at a hopping place like Amazon would not require hard work?

Hey, don't forget Christmas shoppers are in full force, that is, those that plan delivery dates ahead of the day.

Amazon is a low life company I now know firsthand.


They have delivered items and recklessly leave them in hallways, outside my door.
I finally got robbed a few days ago when the Amazon deliverer left the item in a public hallway of my apartment.


I know they are overworked but there’s no excuse for that kind of stupidity and disrespect. Once I buy something online its mine. I don’t expect my product to be thrown in backyards, hallways, on a door where any old person can grab it.


After I informed them about this, they sent me an email saying:
Make sure to check areas such as a porch, garage, or even behind bushes. Could you believe that!

The nature of a place like Amazon is that they demean human beings.

I'll have to go to Wall Mart and hope for better service. Or better stop buying online.

Sadly, stories like this are a lot more common than just Amazon. And are largely down to poor regulations union busting. I'm no AOC supporting socialist, but this case does highlight how poorly large companies sometimes treat people, and why America needs more of the safeguards that places like Europe have had for decades.

Amazon is great compared to the Apple I-Phone/I-Pad factory in China. Employees go mad and jump out the windows. Net put over employee entrance to keep those arriving/departing from being killed by falling suiciders.

I worked a Holiday Season at UPS in College (Columbus Ohio). After 1 week they let me go because I wasn't loading fast enough, and was also leaving gaps between the boxes while loading up the semi-trailers.

Getting terminated was a relief.

I'm looking forward to finding a reason to SUE Amazon after they start delivering packages by drones.

"Amazon, your Delivery Drone came down out of the sky and scared my client so badly, he'll never be the same again. We're going easy on you, by only demanding $10 million...immediately. Or you can pay $100 million when we sue you in court."

No you still sound like a socialist, workers should stfu and just die quietly if need be, no one wants to listen to their whiny cries, the sooner the drone delivery army is activated the better, then we can just youthenaise the useless eaters and live happily ever after.
