I just watched an interesting video on the 2008 Stephenville, Texas UFO sighting. If you never heard of this case, here's a great thread on it, that was posted that same year.

Here's a little summary:
On January 8, 2008, Stephenville gained national media attention when dozens of residents reported observations of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Several residents described a craft as the size of a football field, while others said they were nearly a mile long, similar to the Phoenix lights mass sightings of March 13, 1997.[17][18] Some observers reported military aircraft pursuing the objects.[19][20] CNN's Larry King covered the news story in the days following the incident, and according to Steve Allen, a private pilot who witnessed the UFO, the object was travelling at high speed which supposedly reached 3,000 feet in the air. Allen said it was "About a half a mile wide and about a mile long. It was humongous, whatever it was."[21] The History Channel show UFO Hunters featured a story about the UFO sightings. On January 23, after initially denying that any aircraft were operating in the area, the US Air Force said that it was conducting training flights in the Stephenville area that involved 10 fighter jets.[22] The Air Force said they were merely F-16 Fighting Falcon jets conducting night flights from NAS JRB Fort Worth.

The following video was posted on YouTube yesterday by the History channel. It's a 5 minute clip from the full episode, that aired this past Friday, on the History show called "In Search Of."

What is interesting to me the most about Stephenville is that so many people saw something, but they nearly all describe something totally different, and it can't reasonably be explained as people seeing the same thing from multiple perspectives. This happens sometimes in multiple witness sightings. Different witnesses will see radically different things.

Makes you wonder just how much of this stuff is going on inside people's heads, or is somehow dependent on a witness for its form and appearance.

I'll have to raise a glass to the Stephenville case (whatever the arguments for and against) for being the last truly major UFO case in history.

A shame about the intervening eleven years, though. (The Gimbal/GoFast nonsense from 2015 is a pretty miserable substitute.)

It seems hi-def camera-phones have killed MAJOR sightings dead, when one have thought the opposite would be the case. Funny that. Perhaps because everyone is gazing downwards rather than UPwards (or even straight ahead) these days, like a moby-entranced Dawn of the Dead.

In some ways, I think the High-Def cell phone camera has gone on to prove that perhaps 95 percent of all UFO sightings in the past were primarily just junk misidentifications, hoaxes or delusions, and that real, paranormal UFO interactions with aliens, etc., are extremely rare. Cell phones still take images (and videos!) of UFOs that would have had researchers and supporters doing back handsprings and going over every frame with a fine-toothed comb. And writing books. But now, after what we've learned, all those old books full of UFO sightings? Mostly filled with total garbage.

Cell phones have made UFO images and footage so common that few people even bother to consider them anymore. "Oh, well, just another drone." Everything's a drone, apparently.

I get nostalgic for those old UFO flaps sometimes. But after decades of the same old thing, always coming up short on verifiable evidence -- always! -- I would just like something significant to happen.
