I'm curious to hear what ATS has to say about these charges against the Israeli PM.

Netanyahu is charged in three cases. In Case 4000, Netanyahu is accused of giving the owner of the Walla! News website $280 million worth of regulatory benefits, in return form which Netanyahu received positive media coverage.

In Case 1000, Netanyahu allegedly accepted a couple hundred thousand dollars in bribes from an Australian businessmen in return for favorable treatment of his business and attempting to get him a US visa.

In Case 2000, Netanyahu is alleged to have offered a deal to Arnon Mozes, the publisher of Israel's biggest-circulation newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth. Netanyahu supporter and shady casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson had begun a free pro-Netanyahu newspaper, Yisrael Ha-Yom, and it obviously was eating into the profits of the other newspapers in the country. (How this is not illegal as "dumping" baffles me.) Netanyahu allegedly told Mozes that he could persuade Adelson to reduce the publication run of Yisrael Ha-Yom, which would help his bottom line. In return, Mozes should report more favorably on Netanyahu.

Myself, I find it all very interesting on many levels and wonder what, if anything, interests you?

Yes and he may well go to prison too! Best place for politicians that take large bribes do you you think.

The fact it's taken this long to get this far is what interests me , I think it likely that as Netanyahu is now at the end of his political life and his power is draining away the prosecutors think now is a good time to haul his sorry ass to court.

I'd still be surprised if anything significant came of it though.

Nice to see there is BS politics in other countries too lol...

Seems like case 1000 might be a little lame.
Phrased another way, what possessed an Australian to think Netanyahu could get him a US visa?
Did that come with an Israeli passport maybe?
Can't just about any Aussie get a visa to the USA?

However, I have no doubt that all politicians everywhere are dirty to some degree, so carry on and prosecute to the fullest! Wonder what's on the plate for Israel after this situation resolves?

No, he can't actually do anything to get an Aussie a visa.. unless you count using the influence of office toward a national security issue lol... i mean seriously... this stuff happens every day... every leader in the world uses his influence to do things, every single one lol.. hello, we expect them to do so lol... if they did not do that they are not doing their job lol...

"Picking on a Military Hero"...

I've an honest question for you and dlbott who also brought up the war hero and leader angle.

Do you believe, truly, that, regardless of definition, a decorated (objective measure - open to criticism) military hero is above the law of their own country?

Are they not 'fighting for', the principles of their democracy or constitution? And is not "no one is above the law" one of those principles?

The question(s) above that I just asked of GBP/JPY, I would also ask you.

Both post got a few stars - so I assume that those agree with your position and frankly I don't get it.

Makes you wonder about the Netanyahu's election wins, did voters really vote for him or did bought the election with connections?
