This entire deal was a British thing
Let them handle it.
Indeed, do you know the original 1897 treaty? Was it to return the area after 100 years with no strings attached?
I wondered if the US would intervene at some point.

As voting continued, the vote was an overwhelming 412-1 in favor of the “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act,” sending it to the White House for President Donald Trump to sign into law or veto. The Senate passed it unanimously on Tuesday.
A 16-year-old girl from Hong Kong claimed she was gang raped by police officers. Recent reports state that she got an abortion on Friday (Nov 8) as a result of the rape. The girl said she was walking past Tsuen Wan Police Station on Sept 27 when she was seized by police officers wearing riot gear. She was dragged inside a room in the station and was allegedly raped by the four officers. The Hong Kong Free Press reported that the girl was not wearing black nor was she protesting when she was abducted. The lawyer who represents the victim reportedly filed a rape case to the Complaints Against Police Office (Capo) on Sept 22. The victim has since had an abortion at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei.

Why is one country passing bills for other countries?
No other countries are stepping in to save the US from its turmoils.
The reason America never protests or take to the streets no matter if its government spying on citizens, corruption, inequality, etc, is because the entire country is on drugs of some form or the other.
